The girly`s ......giggle box

Enjoy the snow, Barb- I hope the colder weather helps your migraines at least (I imagine really hot weather doesn't help at all).

The little one fell asleep no problem tonight, but last night was a disaster so I'm hoping she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night again (and again, and again!) =( Fingers crossed!

Thanks sanggye- she's doing much better with the whole sleep thing now that over a week's passed. She still wakes up in the middle of the night crying some, but generally falls back to sleep within 5 minutes - which, of course, at 4 in the morning with a crying baby seem like 5 HOURS!

babysexylexy- I actually avoided putting my little one in too much pink or cutesie, but she is starting to prefer it! She loves picking her own shoes in the morning, loves having a choice about her outfit. She's definitely more girly than I am!! She's going to LOVE dress-up once she gets to that age!

Barb, my wish for you for 2011 is to be migraine-free, or at least to be able to get a good appointment in with your specialist! I'm sorry to hear things aren't doing wonderfully, but I'll be optimistic for you ok? By the way, what's "ME"? Please excuse my ignorance.

2011 has started off on the sick side for us as well - first the baby, then my husband and I got the flu, I'm taking a sick day today actually (though my husband, who is home with me, has gotten so many work phonecalls, I might have just gone to the office, grrrr!). At least the baby is fine and back in daycare today so we can try to rest up and get our old selves back somehow!

A very belated HAPPY NEW YEAR and my best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011!

This flu is horrible, it's really killing us! Not a fever, but lots of hacking coughing, stuffed noses and overall BLECH feeling!

Glad you're well now Bala!

Marmite, ewwwww! What about "vegimite"? Is that like marmite? I always think of that song lyric "She just smiled and gave me a vegimite sandwich"! (I come from the Land Down Under...) =)

I have a friend who is diabetic and has to eat all GF and I know she's had a very hard time with it- though things, like you said, are getting better and improving and there are more (good tasting) GF solutions. Yes, though, I know they do cost a lot.

My family's still a little sick over here. The little one, thank goodness, seems to be ok, but my husband and I are still coughing/sneezing. This flu was a rough one, wish me luck in finally getting over it!!!

A friend of mine who's a graphic designer often is prone to bad migraines, you can imagine how painful it is for her to have to push through it and work at the computer anyway. Ouch.

Good luck with your next GF loaves! I'm a fan of nuts (walnuts especially) in my bread, maybe you could try one with walnuts in it, maybe add some raisins too? That'd be delicious with some butter and cinnamon on it - since I know you're working on keeping some meat on your bones, too!

My cough's still hanging around but I"m feeling a bit more energetic - but this is now almost 15 days after I first felt sick, a record for me (usually just a couple days resting and I can get rid of these bugs). Definitely think the bugs are wicked brutal this year!

Thanks Shinny! I'm feeling much better today. Get well soon and I hope you don't get the lingering cough!

Barb: I often forget how hard it is to get anything accomplished when you don't feel well, like your brother. Actually, pre-baby, when I got sick, like I said, I just laid myself up for a couple days and always got better quickly. With a little one, I don't have that liberty anymore, so things tend to last longer since I can't really take care of myself. Even showering is complicated business!

Mmm, all I can see there is that "Chicken noodle" book! Now I want some chicken noodle, the way mom makes it! =)

YES, a fire sounds splendid!

Apple cider vinegar, huh? For BOTH acid reflux AND the flu? Sounds too good to be true! I'll be sure to try it out next time I get sick, which hopefully will be NEVER, but I guess i have to be realistic!

Oh no, sorry to hear it Shinny! My father-in-law had something similar happen today - he was feeling really weak (after a week of a cough) and it turns out he has pneumonia. He'd been on antibiotics for his sickness, but they were the wrong ones. They caught it in time so he's going to be ok, just has to take some stronger antibiotics and rest (though his Dr. recommended staying inside, but not in bed as that will make him feel weaker).

Get well soon Shinny!!

My doctor always suggests I take something to help the tummy while I'm on antibiotics, like a product called "Enterogermina," that helps your "intestinal flora." (that sounds ridiculous, but it does help!) Ha!

Yes, that would work just as well - and probably be much tastier!

I strongly hope that you (or anyone!) never gets stranded somewhere and only has marmite//vegemite to eat!! LOL, leave it up to Oprah to discover the underlying mysteries of a marmite sandwich!

Meg! How are you? Haven't seen you around in a long old time. How's things - married life treating you ok?

YES, I do remember you mentioning it, but I never had a chance to make it. Don't have much time for baking- or, well, for much of anything - these days! But I'm really glad you found the makeshift ingredients work for you!!

I absolutely can't believe 10 years have passed - time does fly.

That's horrible Barb, so sorry to hear it. I didn't know you needed a cane =(

How are your new homemade bread experiments going?

And hi Shinny! All's ok here- little one had a form of pneumonia and is on antibiotics, so she's home from daycare till probably the end of the month. She's doing much better, is almost completely healthy, so now we just need to keep her entertained!

Thanks - she's doing great now - it's her dad and I who are exhausted trying to keep up with her!

Ah, I see about the cane. That must be extremely frustrating =(

Good luck with the bread!!!

So glad you have an understanding (and knowledgeable) friend to help with the shopping. I hate throwing out food, too, by the way!

Feel well, Barb!

I would very much LOVE to take it easy! THis morning was our first few hours away from our daughter - we sent her to her grandparents for a few hours - and we cleaned the house top to bottom. Boy, did it need it! However, not much of a rest for the weary!

One of my best friends is arriving for a visit tomorrow, though, so I'm very happy about that!
