The Haves and the Have Nots Premiered on OWN on May 28, 2013

Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots is a new television drama from the prolific writer, director and producer Tyler Perry. The show follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent Savannah, Georgia, mansion.

From the outside, the Cryers are the enviable face of success and wealth, but behind the veil, the family's dysfunction threatens to destroy their world of privilege. Cryer family patriarch Jim Cryer (John Schneider) is a powerful judge whose double life, including tawdry affairs with high-priced escorts, puts his family and political ambitions at risk. His wife, Katheryn Cryer (Renée Lawless), is the ultimate matriarch, portraying a loving and dutiful wife, but she is willing to do anything to protect her family's status. Their son, Wyatt (Aaron O'Connell), is a troubled, angry jock who cares little for his own image and finds himself in and out of rehab. His sister, Amanda (Jacyln Betham), a struggling law student, tries harder to live up to her parents' expectations but unknowingly has befriended a scurrilous young woman, Candace Young, with the power to ruin the entire family.

Hanna Young (Crystal Fox) is the Cryers' maid and the matriarch of her family. Despite having no money, she has found other types of wealth through religion and virtue. She prides herself on her dutiful son, Benny (Tyler Lepley), the glue who helps keep the family together. Hanna does have one dark secret, however—her estranged daughter, Candace (Tika Sumpter), a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. In a bizarre coincidence, Candace is shocked to find out that her newfound friend Amanda's father is Jim Cryer, the very man who has been paying her for sex and who also employs Candace's mother as his family's maid. Armed with this knowledge, the stage is set for what will be, in Candace's eyes, the opportunity of a lifetime.

Other characters in the series include the Cryers' chef Celine (Eva Tamargo), their wealthy friends Veronica (Angela Robinson) and David Harrington (Peter Parros), and Wyatt Cryer's rehabilitation counselor, Jeffery Harrington (Gavin Houston).

Candace saying her mother was dead was sad as she was there as a maid but throwing a drink over her was a bad start to her first day on the job and Candace blackmailing her friends dad was a surprise

Wyatt giving Candace a hard time after seeing him with his father was understandable but Jim telling David that Candace is blackmailing him was a surprise, Wyatt's trap after he wonders about Jeffery's sexuality was amusing

Candace is a real nasty piece of work by increasing pressure on Jim but lipstick on his underwear was amusing and Benny wanting Candace to pay the overdue mortgage on Hanna's house was a surprise

Candace talking to the reporter was one hell of a way to get Jim worried and if only her family could see how she was planning to get the money to save their mothers house and now with the notice of eviction it's only going to get worse

Hanna learning that Katheryn has cancer was interesting as they now have that in common and Candace risking them for the car was an arrogant move and lets hope David has a plan to bring her down before his wife does something

Candace seduces Jim once again is getting frustrating but as he as paid he may as well use her like a hooker and Hanna offering Katheryn a joint was interesting but it's nice to see them getting on so well and Celine getting envious as she has been there years is understandable, Veronica thinking Candace was sleeping with her husband was amusing and Benny's mother setting him up with the girl from church was priceless

Jeffery trying to ask Candace out couldn't of gone worse as she thinks he's gay but laughing was a little rude and she can really tell a believable story about her passed but a great way to get Wyatt of her back, David setting his mother up on a blind date was interesting as he has no idea the guy is his father

Candace coaching Amanda on how to use her feminine charms on her professor was interesting but you just knew there would be trouble and Celine getting more envious is bound to cause trouble for Hanna, Benny getting arrested while driving Hanna's car was predictable as David is out to get her

Celine hiding the tea and honey from Hanna was childish and all because Katheryn promoted Hanna over her but how ironic that Hanna ends up at David door looking for legal advice but what a cliffhanger with Candace about to spill the beans

Katheryn embarrassing Candace after she spilled the beans about her affair with her husband was priceless and the fact she is the ninth in a long line of affairs Jim has had made the title make sense, who would of thought Hanna would have David in tears after her praying but what a shame for Amanda being ignored by Candace when she needed her the most

Katheryn asking Hanna to keep the video evidence in case the worst happens during surgery and her will disappears was a big thing to ask and Veronica takes Benny's case was great as she has Jim and David worried, Jim learning about Amanda's suicide attempt from Wyatt was understandable as Candace wasn't going to tell him

I'm glad Amanda told Candace about her rape after her suicide attempt and Veronica putting the pieces together about Jim and Candace affair but Jeffrey's behaviour was despicable

Jeffery asking Candace to be her date was bizarre and telling Laura to stay away from Wyatt was sickening as it's obvious he wants him for himself knowing he's not gay

All Jeffrey's interference in breaking Wyatt's relationship up has got to backfire sooner or later and I cant believe David was so stupid to use his own bag that got Benny arrested but the fact Veronica gave him the bag and she has figured it all out was amusing

I'm not surprised Veronica is upset with David for lying straight to her face and the fact she can no longer believe anything he says after 25 years of marriage is sad, Katheryn revealing the truth about Jim's philandering past to Hanna was interesting as she also learnt about Candace being his ninth mistress and Wyatt coming onto Jeffery to get him to confess he's gay was a surprise and Jeffery hitting him with a golf club was a bigger shock
