About the Show:
From Emmy Award winners John Wells, Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack comes a raw and authentic look at the police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, "Southland" is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Michael Cudlitz plays John Cooper a seasoned Los Angeles cop assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman. Cooper's honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer.

Cudlitz and McKenzie are joined by other cast members including Regina King who plays Detective Lydia Adams. Adams lives with and is the primary caregiver of her mother. Her partner, Detective Russell Clarke is an unhappily married father of three. Michael McGrady plays Detective Daniel "Sal" Salinger. Sal oversees fellow gang detectives Nate Moretta and Sammy Bryant. Arija Bareikis plays as patrol officer Chickie Brown, a single mom who dreams of being the first woman accepted into SWAT.

Season 1



1. Unknown Trouble
The first day on the job for a rookie cop isn't going to be easy, especially when his training officer is tough-as-nails veteran Officer John Cooper. Meanwhile, Det. Lydia Adams investigates the disappearance of a little girl who had vanished while playing ball.

2. Mozambique
An investigation is opened when Officers Cooper, Sherman, and Brown find an abandoned baby in the middle of an intersection. However, the case proves to be too close to home for Det. Adams, whose involvement with the investigation forces her to deal with past issues. Meanwhile, Detectives Bryant and Moretta find themselves in a difficult situation when they can't seem to gather sufficient funds to place a teenager under police protection for her safety.

3. See the Woman
Officer Sherman reveals details of his past that explain his motivation to be a cop. Meanwhile, Officer Brown questions her partnership with Officer Dewey when the latter becomes starstruck and fails to do his job.

4. Sally in the Alley
Detectives Bryant and Moretta are summoned to an alley in Los Angeles where the body of an unidentified woman is being used by street thugs for target practice. Meanwhile, Det. Moretta reveals the truth about his sister.

5. Two Gangs
Detectives Moretta and Bryant step in to aid Det. Salinger when he crashes into a light pole and members of a gang steal his weapon. Meanwhile, Det. Adams is taken aback when a man exposes himself outside her home.

6. Westside
When Detectives Adams and Clarke investigate jewelry thieves who are targeting homes in Bel Air, Officer Sherman becomes involved personally when he discovers he knows one of the victims. Meanwhile, as Bryant and Moretta prepare Janilla for trial, Det. Bryant uses unconventional means to insure her safety.

7. Derailed
After a member of Marta Ruiz's Avenue gang is found dead, Detective Bryant persuades Det. Adams to help Janilla. Meanwhile, the rift between Det. Salinger and his teenage daughter continues to deepen.

Season 2



1. Phrase Three
Lydia and Russell’s replacement, Rene Cordero, investigate a possible abduction of an elderly man by a known drug addict. Nate and Sammy investigate a freeway shooting and wind up threatening the integrity of a major undercover operation. And Chickie finds herself in the middle of a mini-riot after her new partner shoots at a 13-year-old boy.

2. Butch and Sundance
John and Ben are the first responders to a gruesome triple homicide in Hancock Park, where a mother is bludgeoned to death and her young daughters are found bound, gagged, raped and dead in their bedrooms. In investigating the case, Lydia and Rene realize they have two very different styles of doing detective work. Sammy continues to have problems with his wife, who seems unable to complete even the simplest of tasks. And Ben confronts John about his increasing reliance on pain pills.

3. U-Boat - 03/16/10
Ben winds up in a patrol unit alone for the first time. Among the cases he has to handle on his own are a missing girl and a suspected stalking case. Lydia and Rene spend the day checking in on and helping out Brianna and her baby. Over in Gangs, Gil Puente leads the task force to take down ex-banger Trinny Day, but Sal and Sammy have a hard time working with Puente. While patrolling with John, it is clear that Chickie has no command presence, but she is determined to work harder and become a good cop again.

4. The Runner
Lydia and Rene arrive in Compton, where a young USC student was murdered. Kenny and Andy canvass the neighborhood while Nate and Sammy investigate a house nearby where a party took place the night before. John and Ben head to Indian Wells for the funeral of a cop that proves to be very personal for John. They also stop at a halfway house for cops to see how Dewey is doing. And Lydia decides to talk to her mother about something that has been festering between them for years.

5. What Makes Sammy Run?
Gangsters open fire in a crowded club and kill two bangers, one of whom has a connection to an officer. Meanwhile, tensions rise between Sal and Gil on the gang task force. And Sammy confronts his wife, Tammi, after discovering that she has been out photographing gang members.

6. Maximum Deployment
John gets an unexpected request from his ex-wife just as he, Ben and Chickie are sent out as part of a maximum deployment to capture the “Canyon Rapist,” a perp who has been impersonating a cop. Lydia gets re-partnered with Russell for a double-homicide case. And Sal gives his wife Susan a special gift to commemorate her promotion, but their night turns into a disaster when their daughter reveals Sal’s affair with TV news reporter Mia Sanchez.

Season 3



Episode 1: Let It Snow
Detective Lydia Adams adjusts to working with her new partner, Detective Josie Ochoa, as they investigate the disappearance of an illegal immigrant. Detective Russell Clarke settles in to a new desk job. Meanwhile, Detectives Sammy Bryant and Nate Moretta track down the killer of two gangbangers. Officer Ben Sherman catches the eye of an attractive woman during a traffic stop, while his partner, Officer John Cooper, copes with increasing back pain.

Episode 2: Punching Water
Detective Sal Salinger asks Lydia and Josie for help when a four-year-old is killed in a drive-by shooting in a series of gang murders. Officer John Cooper is asked to monitor Billy Dewey after he returns from rehab, Officer Ben Sherman is teamed up with Chickie Brown.

Episode 3: Discretion
Officer Ben Sherman seeks revenge after the man who raped his mother is released from prison. Detectives Adams and Ochoa argue about a chainsaw that may have been used in a murder as Sammy Bryant deals with Tammi's betrayal.

Episode 4: Code 4
Officer John Cooper gives Sherman tips on how to be a police officer, including the proper method to make a death notification and arrest a suspected drug user. Detective Sammy Bryant continues to stay at his partner's home as he sorts out his marital difficulties. With Josie Ochoa in court, Detective Adams deals with a drug-related murder case by herself.

Episode 5: The Winds
Detectives Adams and Ochoa are assigned a complicated rape case on the Westside. Officer John Cooper bonds with an abandoned teenager while also having to deal with testifying at his own father's parole hearing.

Episode 6: Cop or Not
Detective Adams discovers there are good and bad consequences involved with being in the spotlight as she works on a celebrity's murder. Detective Bryant goes out on patrol as Officers Cooper and Sherman become frustrated with a tedious security detail.

Episode 7: Sideways
Detective Adams is suspended from duty and bonds with an injured witness. Meanwhile, a high-speed chase during which a bystander is killed haunts Officer Chickie Brown and Officer Cooper attempts to clean up a neighborhood.

Episode 8: Fixing a Hole
Sammy Bryant looks for answers to his problems in the desert, as Detectives Adams and Ochoa babysit an important alcoholic witness before a murder trial. Officers Cooper and Sherman disregard standard procedure to help a young boy who needs help.

Episode 9: Failure Drill
Officer John Cooper's drug problem becomes worsen as Ben Sherman nears the end of his training period. Meanwhile, Lydia Adams is involved in a shoot-out while preoccupied with a teenaged victim and Sammy Bryant turns his attention to his impending fatherhood.

Episode 10: Graduation Day
Officer Ben faces his final day as a rookie and contends with his partner's increasing dependence on painkillers. Meanwhile, Detective Sammy Bryant is assigned a new partner.

Season 4



Episode 1: Wednesday
Detective Lydia Adams is assigned a new partner, Ruben Robinson, a former Marine, as she confronts a former confidential informant. Officer John Cooper's successful back surgery allows him to return to the job after his treatment for drug addiction. Cooper learns he has been teamed with a new partner, Jessica Tang. No longer a trainee, Officer Ben Sherman is partnered with Sammy Bryant, who continues to struggle with the loss of Nate Moretta.

Episode 2: Underwater
Officer John Cooper's past physical problems are tested when he and Officer Tang are attacked by a perp on the street. Detectives Adams and Robinson investigate a convenience store murder, and Lydia charms a grandmother to collect facts on the suspect. Officers Sherman and Bryant ride along with a mistake-proned officer. Joel Rucker takes over as the new captain.

Episode 3: Community
Captain Joel Rucker orders the officers to monitor the streets of Los Angeles on Hood Day, and a violent gang war erupts when Officer Bryant intentionally leaves a gang territory unattended. Detective Robinson practices his speech for his daughter's Quinceañera during a murder investigation. Officers Cooper and Tang investigate a robbery in a strict Orthodox Jewish home, which leads Tang to reveal parts of her past.

Episode 4: Identity
Jessica's past is revealed after she offers help to a veteran who is homeless. Meanwhile, Sammy takes care of a dog of the vet bill after he accidentally shoots it. Lydia and Ruben investigate the murder of a Good Samaritan as Lydia face a huge change in her life.

Episode 5: Legacy
Cooper tries to save a suicidal teenager who's in a situation that affects him personally. There are serious consequences when Sammy tries to convince a former addict to be an informant. Jessica Tang has a visitor from someone in her past as Lydia and Ruben investigate a possible home invasion that appears to have been staged to cover up a murder.

Episode 6: Integrity Check
A young man who had been scheduled to testify in one of Sammy Bryant's cases is killed as John Cooper and Jessica Tang are assigned to ride along with a documentary film crew. Det. Fernandez assigns Lydia to work as a field supervisor because the flu has created a shortage in officers on the street.

Episode 7: Fallout
Officer Jessica Tang is served with divorce papers in the morning that appears to have affected her judgment in a shooting later in the shift. Sammy Bryant holds a grudge against Ben Sherman for not backing him up over drug evidence that may have been planted during a previous arrest. Meanwhile, Lydia is still hesitant to discuss her pregnancy with Ruben and Det. Fernandez.

Episode 8: God's Work
Lydia and Ruben investigate the death of a young nanny, but first they have to find the children who had been in her custody. Ben makes matters worse when he tries to intervene in the life of a prostitute with a daughter. Jessica Tang gets an update about the boy she shot, but John Cooper still wants her to admit what really happened.

Episode 9: Risk
Ben Sherman's tries to help a prostitute with a daughter, which creates an encounter with the woman's pimp. Lydia and Ruben investigate the murder of a gangbanger who may have been killed over a graffiti tag as Jessica Tang's promotion to sergeant is jeopardized after she shoots an innocent bystander.

Episode 10: Thursday
Officer Jessica Tang prepares for her last day on patrol so she can move to another precinct as sergeant, but she needs to deal with unresolved issues on her beat first. Ben Sherman and Dewey are partnered together as Sammy recovers from his injuries, but Ben wants to spend his time tracking down the prostitute he's been trying to help and get her and her daughter away from the abusive pimp who is controlling their lives. Meanwhile, Lydia is pressured to make a decision about her police duties during the rest of her pregnancy.

Season 5



Episode 1: Bats and Hats
In the season 5 premiere of Southland, Officer John Cooper clashes with his new boot, Gary Steele, a vet from Afghanistan. Lydia struggles to balance detective work and motherhood. Ben Sherman falls in with a sketchy crowd of cops, while Sammy Bryant is trapped in a hellish custody battle with Tammi.

Episode 2: Heat
After Mendoza is injured in a drive-by, Ben takes it upon himself to solve the case, much to Sammy's dismay. Lydia regains her footing as a detective while investigating the murder of a female boxer's husband. Tensions between Cooper and Steele finally come to a head during a traffic stop-gone-sideways.

Episode 3: Babel
A breakdown in the LAPD's dispatch system makes a difficult job even harder for the cops, all of whom are already grappling with communication issues. Lydia, in a moment of weakness, reaches out to her old flame, Terrell. John is assigned a new partner; Ben and Sammy's partnership is strained just as Ben makes a romantic connection on the job.

Episode 4: Under the Big Top
Lydia and Reuben track the killer of a man whose body was slow cooked down to the bone. John and Lucero settle into their new friendship during a day filled with strange calls. Ben and Sammy respond to an insane bank robbery in which the suspects throw cash out into the streets as they make their escape in a getaway car.

Episode 5: Off Duty
John is forced to think about what life will hold for him once he leaves the LAPD. Lydia connects with a man she sent to death row earlier in her career. Much to his chagrin, Sammy becomes a tabloid celebrity for the day after a very public act of heroism. Ben makes a dubious decision to get a drug dealer arrested. And a foot pursuit puts Dewey in danger.

Episode 6: Bleed Out
The day’s events bring all of our cops face to face with some of their greatest fears. The death of a baby shakes Lydia to her core. Sammy is questioned by I.A. about his altercation with Tammi. A difficult day on the job causes Cooper to seek solace in Hicks but finds none. Ben becomes more deeply involved with Brooke while continuing to see Elena.

Episode 7: Heroes
John takes drastic measures to try to save Hicks while being confronted with demons from his past. Sammy’s lie about the tape weighs heavily on his conscious. Lydia and Ruben track down a John Doe. Ben’s relationship with Elena becomes more serious.

Episode 8: The Felix Paradox
The funeral of a major drug dealer brings gangsters of all kinds out of the woodwork, there is chaos in the streets but as our cops learn sometimes the greatest threats come from within. Lydia and Ruben investigate the drug related murder of Sgt. Hill’s son; they discover police corruption in the process and clash over how to handle it. Ben suspects that Sammy did not destroy the tape and decides to take matters into his own hands with tragic consequences. John sinks farther into his loneliness.

Episode 9: Chaos
Chaos prevails in the city of angels when Cooper and Lucero are kidnapped and held hostage by a pair of tweakers. All of our cops join the frantic search to find their brothers in blue before it is too late. Sammy searches for Strokeface. Ben tries to throw Sammy off the trail while simultaneously dealing with an increasingly irrational Brooke.

Episode 10: Reckoning
John copes with the aftermath of his kidnapping. Sammy closes in on the real robbers. Lydia continues to pursue John’s kidnappers and becomes more intimate with Russell.
