Jade Goody signs £700k wedding deal

Jade Goody has signed an exclusive £700,000 deal with OK! for the media rights to her wedding, it has emerged.

The ceremony will take place at Down Hall country house in Hatfield Heath, Hertfordshire, Sky News reports.

Associate editor of the magazine Philip Gould said: "There is a lot of interest in this wedding because Jade is such a popular person and I think people do want to be there on the day with us.

"So the best way that this can be achieved is by being in a magazine like OK!.

"All the money that Jade will get will go into a trust fund for her two boys."

He added that photographs of the wedding will feature in the publication next week, provided that Goody is well enough to walk down the aisle on Sunday.

Goody was also reported to have sent back her wedding dress to Harrods for some adjustments, including the addition of a pouch to keep her drugs in.

The Big Brother star's fiancé Jack Tweed said this week that he and Goody must part every night because of the electronic tag he has to wear since his early release from prison.

Friend: 'Goody can pull off wedding'

Jade Goody's friend and bridesmaid Kate Jackson has said that she is confident that the Big Brother star can put together her last-minute wedding to boyfriend Jack Tweed.

Jackson told The Mirror that Goody had called five friends, including herself, to her bedside and asked them to be her bridesmaids.

She said: "Then she started flinging out random orders about what we had to do for the preparations - although now everything keeps changing.

"There are so many things to organise, and so much of what Jade wants isn't practical when there is only a week - but if anyone can pull off this wedding, Jade can.

"She wants it to be the most incredible day of her life, and we will do whatever we can to make sure it is."

Jackson added that she would stay in touch with Goody's sons to make sure they will never forget their mother.

It has emerged that Goody has signed an exclusive deal worth £700,000 with OK! to cover the wedding, though the Daily Mail claims the star will earn a total of £1.5 from the big day.

PM: 'I applaud Goody's determination'

Gordon Brown has praised Jade Goody's "determination" to provide for her family.

Speaking at his monthly news conference at Downing Street, the Prime Minister expressed his sympathy for the terminally ill reality star.

"It's very sad and indeed tragic that someone so young has got this deadly disease... and it's very sad indeed that the treatment that has been given has not been successful," he told reporters.

However, Brown praised Goody's "determination to help her family" by selling the rights to her wedding, adding: "[It] is something that we've got to applaud."

Goody, 27, has confirmed that she will marry her boyfriend Jack Tweed at Down Hall in Hertfordshire on Sunday.

OK! has paid £700,000 for the exclusive images of the ceremony, while Living TV has reportedly pledged £100,000 for the rights to broadcast the event on TV.

Goody 'thrilled' with Tweed curfew lift

Jade Goody is said to be "absolutely thrilled" with the government's decision to waive her fiancé's curfew for their wedding night this Sunday.

Justice Secretary Jack Straw has lifted the order on Jack Tweed, which states that he must return to his mother's home by 7pm every day.

Tweed has been under the order since his early release from Wayland Prison in Norfolk after he attacked a teenager with a golf club.

Straw said: "It is crucial that offenders are treated equally within the rules regardless of the publicity surrounding their case, but I was satisfied that it was reasonable to allow this."

A spokesman added: "Jack has enormous sympathy for Jade Goody and her family at this time. She is showing extraordinary courage and his thoughts are with her and her family."

Goody's publicist Max Clifford said the decision would give her a "dream finish" to her big day that would make a big difference to the occasion.

Earlier this week, Tweed spoke of his heartache of having to leave his partner to return home under his curfew order.

Morgan's "Friend" -- He Was Drinking Before Crash

The woman who was injured in a car crash with Morgan Freeman last year claims the actor was boozing all over town before he got behind the wheel.

According to a lawsuit filed today in Mississippi federal court, Demaris Meyer claims on the night of the crash, she first met up with Freeman at dinner -- where she noticed "throughout the course of dinner and afterward drinks were consumed by Freeman."

Meyer then says she left dinner and met up with Freeman and others at a friend's home. She claims Freeman "had at least one more drink" while there. She claims Freeman then invited her to stay at his home for the night -- guaranteeing her not only her own bedroom, but her "own house." She says she agreed.

Meyer claims at around 11:30 PM, while Freeman drove her to his home, Morgan lost control of the car and "ran off of the right side of the highway." Meyer says she suffered a broken left wrist and right scapula, a torn labrum in her right shoulder and numerous bruises and lacerations.

At a press conference today, Meyer said she and Freeman were "just friends" -- despite widespread rumors that she was his mistress.

Meyer is suing for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, permanent disability (short term memory loss) and additional damages.

Bruce Willis Sued for Allegedly Walking Off Set

Bruce Willis is being sued by a production company that claims the actor committed to a bargain-basement deal to direct a movie and then walked off the set, never to return.

Foresight Unlimited claims it inked a deal with Willis to direct a movie called "Three Stories about Joan," starring Owen Wilson and Camilla Belle (Joe Jonas' GF). Willis was supposed to get $196,404 to direct the flick, budgeted at $20 mil.

The lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, claims "Willis abruptly and without notice terminated his services as director for personal reasons and walked off the set." The suit doesn't get more specific.

The suit seeks more than $4 mil in damages.

Willis' legal pit bull, Marty Singer, tells us the suit is "absurd" and that the movie collapsed because the producers didn't have the money to pay anyone. Singer says the producers were required to salary money in an escrow account, but never did. He also says Willis will sue the producers for the fee they promised.

Oprah Warns Rihanna To Keep Distance From Brown

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has warned Rihanna against reconciling with boyfriend Chris Brown.

Brown has been charged with two felony charges following his bust-up with the Umbrella hitmaker last month.

The Kiss Kiss singer is free on $50,000 (£35,700) bail after he was granted a continuance at his arraignment hearing on Thursday and is due back in court next month.

Reports suggest Rihanna has reconciled with the singer and was in Los Angeles with him prior to the arraignment.

But Winfrey is wary of the pair getting back together - and advises them to have counselling.

She says, "You need somebody to tell you the truth in this moment. And the truth is guys, both Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I were your friend, I would call you up and I would say 'Give it some time, get yourself some counselling, take care of yourself, heal yourself first.'

"And also, 'Love doesn't hurt'. I've been saying this to women for years - love doesn't hurt. And if a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again. I don't care what his plea is, he will hit you again.'"

If convicted, Brown faces up to four years and eight months behind bars.

Winslet Used For Political Party Advertising

A picture of Kate Winslet has landed British political party the Liberal Democrats in hot water - after workers edited the image to make it appear she had attended a party function.

An photo of the Oscar winning beauty on the red carpet at the 2007 Golden Globes was used for an advert for the Liberal Democrats' conference brochure.

But the image was doctored to appear as though Winslet was at the Liberal Democrats Council Awards at the party's conference in Yorkshire, England on Friday.

The advert made a joke of Winslet's speech at this year's Golden Globes ceremony, reading: "Winning can be emotional."

A spokeswoman for the actress confirmed the party had not asked Winslet's permission to use the photo.

She says, "They did not request permission to use the image and, so far, Kate has not been made aware of its use. I am not aware of her political position."

A spokesman for the Liberal Democrats' local government group - which was behind the advert - says the image does not suggest Winslet supports the Liberal Democrats.

Fox Praises Obama For Lifting Stem Cell Ban

Michael J. Fox has heaped praised on U.S. President Barack Obama for lifting an eight-year federal funding ban on stem cell research.

Fox has been a strong advocate of embryonic stem cell studies since publicly disclosing his battle with Parkinson's disease in 1998, seven years after his diagnosis.

He founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000, which has since become the largest private funder in the U.S. of medical research into the disease.

And he's given a nod to Obama, who will sign an executive order on Monday lifting limits placed by the administration of former President George W. Bush, who blocked the use of any government money to fund research on human embryonic stem cell lines created after 9 August 2001.

Fox says, "Today is a new day. I'm thrilled to see President Obama has honoured his commitment to get politics out of science. The last few years have been incredibly frustrating for patients and researchers who believe that embryonic stem cell research has the potential to bring better treatment... to many of the patients. I commend the President for recognising the inherent value of research freedom and creating an environment in which it can flourish."
