Hudgens to shoot, fight in 'Sucker Punch'

Zack Snyder has promised that fans of Vanessa Hudgens will be stunned by her transformation in his upcoming movie Sucker Punch.

The High School Musical actress has been cast opposite Emily Browning and Jena Malone in the movie, which sees a group of institutionalised girls retreating into a fantasy world in order to escape.

Speaking to MTV News, he said: "You’re going to see her shooting machine guns, fighting, beating the s**t out of people.

"It’ll allow her to stretch herself and do whatever she wants, and not be too exposed by the movie - but also, on the other hand, do things that people have never seen her do... She has a big part, but she’s not the centre of the movie."

Snyder added that his decision to cast Hudgens had made him very popular with his young family, joking: "They try and be cool about [their dad hanging out with Vanessa], they try and be like, 'Yeah, whatever'. But the truth is, they’re really into it."

Sucker Punch is scheduled for release in 2011.

Jackman, Cyrus to remake 'The Bodyguard'?

Hugh Jackman and Miley Cyrus will star in a new film loosely based on The Bodyguard, it has been reported.

The pair are said to be attached to the project, tentatively titled Personal Security. The proposed movie musical has been likened to the 1992 film that starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, says Contactmusic.

Earlier this year, Variety suggested that Jackman was to feature in the picture as "a tough Gotham police detective forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats".

Further speculation that the two may be working together was fueled after they were spotted enjoying a "business lunch" in California.

Bay: 'LaBeouf almost cancelled Transformers'

Michael Bay has admitted that Shia LaBeouf’s injuries almost cancelled production on Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

The actor injured his hand after he was involved in a car crash last year, while bosses had considered scrapping the entire sequel, STV reports.

Bay revealed that the film, which grossed $200 million (£120 million) at the US box office this past weekend, was lucky to be made at all.

He said: "I actually read it on CNN online and was like, 'This can't be true'. I called my line producer Ian Bryce and he said 'It's true', and I was like 'Oh, my God'. He said 'Let's shut down', and I said 'We can't shut down!'"

The filmmaker decided to shoot around the star's injury and even incorporated it into the follow-up's plotline.

He added: "I immediately had them find the best people in the world to make a special cast that had never been made, with the Kevlar fingers. It was very thin, so you could photograph it. The problem was, if he were to jam his fingers, he could have lost his fingers forever, so we had some experts of the world come up with this design."

LaBeouf recently revealed that he would never regain full use of his damaged hand.

Cohen faces further 'Bruno' lawsuit?

Sacha Baron Cohen may be faced with another lawsuit tied to his movie character Bruno, it has been reported.

An elderly woman filed legal documents against Cohen earlier this month, claiming that she suffered "life-altering" injuries following a prank he filmed for his new comedy.

The New York Daily News reports that comedian Pauly Shore has threatened to sue Cohen over similarities between Bruno and his 2007 film Adopted, and a scene in which the gay Austrian journalist adopts an African baby, making quips about Angelina Jolie and Madonna.

The Encino Man actor has claimed that the sequence bears a striking resemblance to the tagline and trailer of his picture, about the public's fascination with stars adopting foreign children.

Shore is said to have contacted an attorney regarding the matter.

Bruno opens in cinemas on July 10.

'Deadpool' is most wanted 'X-Men' tie-in

Deadpool is the "most wanted" X-Men spinoff project, suggests an online poll on MTV's online comics section Splash Page.

According to the web survey, 30% of readers chose the recently-announced Ryan Reynolds project as their most-anticipated, giving it the edge over a follow-up to this year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

A sequel to Logan's solo outing accounted for 28% of the votes, followed by Josh Schwartz's X-Men: First Class with 21%. David Goyer's X-Men Origins: Magneto finished bottom of the pile with 20%.

MTV reported that "a fairly large number of voters" took part in the survey, but several readers were unhappy with the lack of options available, leaving comments requesting Cyclops and Gambit spinoffs.

X-Men: First Class is slated for a 2010 release, followed by X-Men Origins: Magneto in 2011. Fox is currently recruiting writers for the Deadpool spinoff.

Megan Fox Denies Turning Down Bond Role

Megan Fox has shot down claims she turned down a role in the next James Bond film.

The Transformers star, 23, was said to have been sounded out by Bond bosses for a forthcoming 007 movie in which she would have starred opposite Daniel Craig as one of his conquests.

“Megan might be interested in a villainous role if it was a central part of the movie but she is not interested in being just your usual type of Bond girl,” a source revealed. “She did consider an approach but she won’t be doing Bond while she’s so busy with other projects. She might consider it again in a few years time.”

But a spokesman for Megan has spoken out to set the record straight.

“The report about Megan Fox turning down a Bond movie is completely not true,” the rep said. “There have been no discussions nor any offers. Megan is a fan of the Bond movies.”

Fox is slated to attend Comic Con in San Diego this week, to do publicity for her films Jonah Hex and Jennifer’s Body.
