Sex and the City' star John Corbett cast as 'Widow Detective



John Corbett is to play the title role in CBS pilot Widow Detective.

The cop drama will focus on a detective who becomes a surrogate husband, lover and father to the families of partners who died in the line of duty.

Sex and the City star Corbett has joined the project from CSI exec Carol Mendelsohn, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The actor currently appears as Seth Holt on NBC's Parenthood and also starred on Showtime's United States of Tara.

Widow Detective has been written by David Hubbard, who will exec produce alongside Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz.

Elyes Gabel (Game of Thrones) was previously cast in the pilot as the latest partner of Corbett's Denny.

Kat Foster to play Zachary Levi's wife in Fox sitcom 'Let It Go'



Kat Foster will star opposite Chuck's Zachary Levi in a new sitcom pilot.

Let It Go - from DJ Nash (Traffic Light) - will see Levi play an uptight husband.

Weeds actress Foster has been cast as his wife, who helps to raise their 4-year-old son, reports TVLine.

The pilot reunites Foster with writer Nash, with whom she worked on Fox sitcom 'Til Death between 2006 and 2010.

Her additional credits include episodes of The Good Wife, Law & Order: SVU and Franklin & Bash.

Let It Go's star Levi previously admitted that he was planning on taking a break from television, following the conclusion of NBC's Chuck.

"A lot of the advice I was getting from... people in film and television was that it's not about the size of the screen, it's about the quality of the content," he explained. "And I really believe in this content.

"We shoot the pilot in a month, and then it's up to the television gods."

Peter Tolan (Rescue Me) will executive the Let It Go pilot, alongside 2012's Michael Wimer.

Beauty and the Beast' CW pilot adds 'The Shield' star Brian White



Brian White has joined the cast of The CW's Beauty and the Beast.

Loosely based on an '80s CBS drama, the pilot will star Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) as tough NYPD detective Catherine.

Terra Nova's Jay Ryan will also appear as 'beast' Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a botched military experiment.

White will play Joe, the veteran cop who commands Catherine's homicide unit, according to Deadline.

The actor - who previously starred in The Shield and Men of a Certain Age - can currently be seen in Joss Whedon's The Cabin in the Woods.

Other stars attached to Beauty and the Beast include Max Brown (Spooks), Austin Basis (Life Unexpected), Nicole Gale Anderson (Ringer) and Nina Lisandrello (Nurse Jackie).

Brothers & Sisters producers Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper have written and will exec produce the pilot.

A rival Beauty and the Beast drama is also in the works at ABC, starring Ruth Bradley and Darius Campbell in the lead roles.

'Lights Out' star Holt McCallany joins CBS pilot 'Golden Boy'



Holt McCallany will star in CBS drama pilot Golden Boy.

The project will focus on Walter Clark, a young cop who rises from officer to detective and ultimately becomes police commissioner.

McCallany - who starred in FX's 2011 drama Lights Out - will play Detective Diaco, a homicide cop who is proud of his 'man about town' status and connections, Deadline reports.

The actor has previously appeared on Heroes and CSI: Miami, while his upcoming projects include roles in films The Gangster Squad and Bullet to the Head.

British actor Theo James has been cast in the lead role of Clark. Ryan Phillippe was previously attached to the role, but later dropped out of the project.

Chi McBride (Human Target) will also appear in Golden Boy as Clark's partner Owen. Chuck and NYPD Blue scribe Nicholas Wootton wrote the pilot script.

Executive producing is Greg Berlanti, whose previous credits include Dawson's Creek, Everwood, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone and Brothers & Sisters.

Damages' star Tate Donovan joins NBC's 'Notorious



Tate Donovan has joined NBC drama pilot Notorious.

The project, from writer Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights), follows a female detective who was raised by a wealthy heiress.

When the heiress dies in mysterious circumstances, the detective goes undercover in her old family to investigate.

Former Damages star Donovan will play the "smart and cold" eldest child of powerful tycoon Robert Lawson (Victor Garber), according to Deadline.

The actor's past credits include roles on The OC, Friends and voicing the title character in Disney's 1997 film Hercules.

In addition, Notorious will star FlashForward actor Neil Jackson as another member of the Lawson family, described as a "handsome, sexy and smart bad boy".

Katherine LaNasa (Big Love) will also appear in the pilot, which will be produced by Alphas execs Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.

Dennis Miller to play 'genius boss' in 'Awesometown' comedy pilot



Dennis Miller has been added to the cast of the ABC comedy pilot Awesometown.

Written by Adam Sztykiel, the pilot is about a young husband Dusty (Ben Rappaport) who finds out his wife has been cheating on him, which prompts him to move in with his co-worker Andrew (Nick Kocher) and his friend Oliver (James Earl III).

Miller will star as "a genius boss" of Burke Architecture, reports TV Line.

Miller's previous television roles include Boston Public, News Radio, Norm and Saturday Night Light as a Weekend Update anchor.

In February, Miller guest starred in CBS's Hawaii Five-0 as a talk radio DJ who becomes bored after he retires.

Hawaii Five-0 airs on Mondays at 10pm ET on CBS.

Mistresses': 'Lost' actress Yunjin Kim cast in new ABC remake



Yunjin Kim has joined the cast of new ABC drama Mistresses.

The show is based on the well-known British series about a group of women struggling to deal with illicit relationships. The original series starred Sarah Parish, Sharon Small, Shelley Conn, and Orla Brady.

Deadline reports that Kim has joined the programme as one of the four leads, with Rochelle Aytes and Jes Macallan already cast.

She will play Katie, a therapist who was having an affair with one of her patients before his death, and who later becomes romantically entangled with her late patient's son, played by Erik Stocklin.

Since Lost, Kim has married her longtime boyfriend Jeong Hyeok Park and starred in a handful of South Korean films.

This will be Kim's first return to television since the end of Lost, in which she played Sun-Hwa Kwon.

Mistresses is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2013.

Brothers & Sisters' star Matthew Rhys joins FX pilot 'The Americans



Matthew Rhys has won a role in FX drama pilot The Americans.

The '80s-set project - from Graham Yost (Justified) and Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies) - will focus on two KGB spies who pose as a married American couple.

In the midst of the Cold War, the pair's cover becomes increasingly complicated as they begin to develop real feelings for each other.

Keri Russell will play wife Elizabeth, with Rhys now cast as her 'husband' Phillip, reports TVLine.

The actor's notable credits include playing Kevin Walker on Brothers & Sisters from 2006 to 2011 and recent BBC period drama The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

He will also appear opposite Andrew Scott (Sherlock) and Dame Eileen Atkins (Upstairs Downstairs) in ITV1's forthcoming Daphne du Maurier adaptation The Scapegoat.

Other projects in the works at FX include a political drama starring Eddie Izzard and a rock band comedy executive produced by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

Zachary Levi pilot 'Let It Go' adds 'Avatar' star Joel David Moore



Joel David Moore has joined Zachary Levi's Fox pilot Let It Go.

The comedy - from DJ Nash (Traffic Light) - will feature former Chuck star Levi as an uptight husband.

Avatar star Moore has now been cast as Levi's best friend, according to Deadline.

The actor - who appeared opposite Levi in a 2010 episode of Chuck - plays the recurring role of Colin Fisher on Fox's Bones and has also appeared in episodes of Hawaii Five-0 and Last Man Standing.

Kat Foster ('Til Death) was previously cast in Let It Go as the wife of Levi's character.

Rescue Me's Peter Tolan will executive produce the Let It Go pilot alongside Michael Wimer (2012).

Other comedy pilots picked up by Fox include Rebounding starring Will Forte (Saturday Night Live) and Aly Michalka (Hellcats) and Like Father from Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence.

The Wire' star Pablo Schreiber joins 'Baby Big Shot' pilot



Pablo Schreiber has joined the cast of CBS drama Baby Big Shot.

The pilot will star Janet Montgomery (Human Target) as Martina, a working-class lawyer who uses her street smarts to compete with colleagues at a top New York firm.

Schreiber will play Luke Aronson, a partner in the firm and Martina's love interest, according to Deadline.

The actor is best known for appearing in season two of HBO's The Wire and last year's FX boxing drama Lights Out.

His Lights Out co-star Holt McCallany was also recently cast in a CBS pilot, the cop drama Golden Boy.

Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) and Toni Trucks (Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2) are among the other stars attached to Baby Big Shot.

Dana Calvo (Covert Affairs) has written the pilot, with Kevin Falls (The West Wing) serving as showrunner.

Luck' star Mercedes Ruehl joins Fox pilot 'El Jefe



Mercedes Ruehl has joined the cast of Fox pilot El Jefe.

The comedy will focus on Josh (Ryan Hansen), a 30-year-old man who is forced to move in with his old nanny.

Ruehl has been cast as the nanny Delmi Rodriguez, Deadline reports.

The actress was also recently cast in the second season of HBO's horse-racing drama Luck, but the show was scrapped last week following a series of animal casualties.

She has also filmed a role in ABC drama pilot Last Resort, while her past credits include roles on Frasier, Entourage and Psych.

Jessica Camacho (Dexter) has also joined El Jefe as Lucia, the girlfriend of Delmi's son (Victor Rasuk).

The pilot, which has been in development since August 2011, is from Moses Port and David Guarascio (Happy Endings).

Terra Nova' Jason O'Mara joins Dennis Quaid in CBS mob pilot



Terra Nova star Jason O'Mara has been cast in the pilot of a CBS gangster series.

The actor will appear as Frank, the brother of Las Vegas Sheriff Ralph Lamb (Dennis Quaid) in the new drama from Goodfellas writer Nicholas Pileggi and Without A Trace producer Greg Walker.

Set in the 1960s, the project tells the true story of Lamb's face-off with Johnny Savino (Michael Chiklis), a Chicago mob fixer with big plans for the city.

The Matrix actress Carrie-Ann Moss is rumoured to be playing Assistant District Attorney Katherine O'Connell.

O'Mara will only commit to the project if a second season of Terra Nova does not go ahead, according to Deadline.

The show was axed by Fox at the beginning of March, but producers are apparently discussing reviving it on Netflix.

After Terra Nova's cancellation, O'Mara thanked fans on Twitter for their "immense outpouring of love & support".

Brothers & Sisters' star Gilles Marini joins 'Scruples' pilot



Gilles Marini has joined the cast of ABC pilot Scruples.

The fashion drama will follow wealthy and powerful designer Wilhelmina 'Billy' Hunnewell Winthrop (Claire Forlani).

Brothers & Sisters star Marini will play a Frenchman from Billy's past, reports Deadline.

The character is expected to recur if Scruples - from exec producer Natalie Portman - is picked up to series.

Since Brothers & Sisters concluded last year, Marini has appeared in episodes of Modern Family, Switched at Birth and Are You There, Chelsea?.

Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill), Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers) and Karine Vanasse (Pan Am) are among the other stars attached to Scruples.

Michael Sucsy (The Vow) will direct the pilot, which is under consideration for ABC's 2012-13 television season.

Brian Cox to star in ABC fantasy pilot 'Gotham



Brian Cox has landed a role in ABC pilot Gotham.

The veteran actor will play the wise and secretive Alderman Morrill, according to Deadline.

Gotham will follow Annie Travers (Megan Ketch), an NYPD detective who discovers a magical world that exists within New York.

Cox's character appears to be the owner of a simple clock shop, but is entrusted with maintaining order in the secret world.

The 65-year-old actor, acclaimed for his theatre work, has appeared in such films as 1986's Manhunter, 1998's Rushmore and last year's Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

He also recently signed up to star in BBC Four comedy Bob Servant Independent.

Other stars attached to Gotham include The Walking Dead actor Lennie James and former Hollyoaks star Barry Sloane.

The River's Michael Green has written the pilot, which will be helmed by I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence.

Eddie Izzard cast in 'The Munsters' reboot 'Mockingbird Lane'



Eddie Izzard is in the final stages of negotiations to act in and produce NBC's new pilot Mockingbird Lane.

The programme will be a reinvention of The Munsters, the much-loved 1960s sitcom about the home life of a family of monsters.

Deadline reports that Izzard is the first to be cast in the pilot, which will be written by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) and directed by Bryan Singer (Superman Returns).

The comedian and actor will play Grandpa, the patriarch of the family, a charming and womanising vampire who can shapeshift into rats, wolves and other creatures.

Izzard was originally offered the role in January, but was tied to a drama project in development at FX at the time.

ER' star Eriq La Salle joins CBS pilot 'Widow Detective'



Eriq La Salle has been cast in CBS drama Widow Detective.

The former ER actor will make a guest appearance in the pilot - created by CSI: Crime Scene Investigation showrunner Carol Mendelsohn - as Lieutenant Lutrell, a friend of protagonist Denny (John Corbett).

La Salle has an option for a recurring role if the show is picked up to series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Widow Detective stars Sex and the City actor Corbett as a detective who becomes a surrogate husband, lover and father to the families of his past partners, all of whom died in the line of duty.

Widow Detective has been written by David Hubbard, who will also take on executive producing duties alongside Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz.
