Mo Gaffney to star in Mary McCormack ABC comedy pilot



Mo Gaffney has signed up to star in an ABC pilot.

The comedy, which has a working title of The Unprofessional, focuses on an executive called Hilary who struggles to adapt when she becomes unemployed and has to become a full-time mother to her two teenagers.

Gaffney has now joined the cast as Robin, Deadline says.

The character, a "supermom", does not get on with Hilary.

Gaffney has previously appeared in shows such as Mad About You, That 70s Show and, more recently, House of Lies.

Mary McCormack has already signed up for the lead role of Hilary, while earlier this week Greg Germann landed the part of Hilary's husband.

The project comes from Kari Lizer, who has previously worked on shows such as Will & Grace and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Ray Donovan' pilot adds 'Scarface' star Steven Bauer



Steven Bauer has joined Showtime drama pilot Ray Donovan.

The project will star Liev Schreiber as Donovan, a professional 'fixer' who solves problems for LA's rich and famous.

Scarface actor Bauer will play Avi, Ray's ally at his detective agency, according to Deadline.

His past credits include a recent recurring role on AMC's Breaking Bad and such films as 1996's Primal Fear and 2000's Traffic.

Newcomer Devon Bagby has also been cast as Ray's son Conor in the Ray Donovan pilot. Other stars attached include Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes), Dash Mihok (I Am Legend) and Paula Malcomson (The Hunger Games).

Jon Voight, Elliott Gould, The L Word's Kate Moennig and House star Peter Jacobson will also appear in the drama, created by Southland's Ann Biderman.

Claire Forlani, Boris Kodjoe join ABC pilot 'Scruples'



Claire Forlani has signed on to star in Scruples, a new ABC pilot.

The drama is based on a Judith Krantz novel, and tells the story of a successful clothing designer named Billy Winthrop, to be played by Forlani.

Deadline reports that Jessica McNamee and Boris Kodjoe will also feature in the pilot. McNamee will play Billy's friend, a celebrity journalist. Kodjoe will play the attorney of Billy's late husband.

This will be Forlani's fourth foray as a television series regular. She has previously appeared in NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI: New York, and Camelot, where she starred as Queen Igraine.

Kodjoe recently finished filming another ABC pilot, Georgetown, about a group of young people working in Washington, DC. The actor also starred in the spy series Undercovers alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw, but the show was axed last year.

Scruples is produced by Tony Krantz and Natalie Portman. It is to be directed by Michael Sucsy, who helmed the hit romance The Vow.

Angela Bassett cast in Fox CIA pilot



Angela Bassett has been cast in a new pilot about the CIA, it has been announced.

The pilot will be a teen spy drama focusing on an orphaned 14-year-old daughter of a CIA agent, who gets taken in by a rogue CIA agent and assassin.

Bassett will play Alice Vargas, the director of the CIA. She is joined by Julian McMahon, known for his work on Nip/Tuck. McMahon will play Kevin Lear, the agent who becomes a surrogate father to the orphaned 14-year-old, played by Saxon Sharbino. Brett Ratner is tapped to direct.

This will mark Bassett's return as a series regular since leaving the long-running medical drama ER.

This is the second ABC drama pilot Bassett has signed on for in the last two years. In May 2011, the actress played the lead in Identity, a remake of the UK series, which was to follow an elite police unit who investigate cases of identity theft.

Bassett played a CIA director in recent comedy romance This Means War, alongside Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine.

All My Children' star Susan Lucci joins 'Devious Maids' pilot



Susan Lucci has joined the cast of ABC drama pilot Devious Maids.

The project - from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry - will focus on four maids who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.

All My Children star Lucci will play the wealthy Genevieve Delacourt, according to Deadline.

One of the maid's employers, Genevieve is used to male attention and is struggling to deal with her fading sex appeal.

Lucci played Erica Kane on ABC's All My Children for 41 years between 1970 and 2011. Last year, she criticised the network's decision to axe the soap, blaming a "fatal combination of ignorance and arrogance".

The actress also hinted last year that she was in talks to appear on Cherry's Desperate Housewives, though executive producer Bob Daily later denied the rumours.

Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty), Dania Ramirez (Heroes), Roselyn Sanchez (Without a Trace) and Judy Reyes (Scrubs) will play the title characters in the Devious Maids pilot.

Edy Ganem, Angelique Cabral and Rebecca Wisocky will also star in the project, which is based on a Mexican format.

Everybody Loves Raymond' star Brad Garrett joins Sarah Chalke sitcom



Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett has signed up for a new ABC comedy pilot.

The 51-year-old actor will appear opposite Scrubs star Sarah Chalke in How to Live With Your Parents For the Rest of Your Life.

He will play Max, the father of Chalke's Polly, according to TVLine.

The potential series will follow Polly, a newly-divorced single mother who's forced to move back in with her father and mother Elaine (Elizabeth Perkins).

In addition to his Raymond role, Garrett starred in Fox comedy 'Til Death from 2006 to 2010 and also appeared in two episodes of short-lived sitcom Glory Daze.

How to Live With Your Parents For the Rest of Your Life will be executive produced by Claudia Lonow (The War at Home).

Other comedy pilots picked up by ABC include The Smart One starring Portia de Rossi and David Arquette, identity swap sitcom Prairie Dogs and an untitled project from Mandy Moore.

Desperate Housewives' star Vanessa Williams joins '666 Park Avenue



Vanessa Williams has joined the cast of ABC's supernatural pilot 666 Park Avenue.

The drama, based on a series of books by Gabriella Pierce, will focus on one of the oldest apartment buildings in New York as it becomes home to paranormal events.

Williams will play Olivia, who owns the building with her husband Gavin (Terry O'Quinn), according to TVLine.

The actress currently stars as Renee Perry on ABC's Desperate Housewives and also appeared on on Ugly Betty from 2006 to 2010.

Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters) and Rachael Taylor (Charlie's Angels) have been cast in 666 Park Avenue as two newly-weds managing the property.

The Finder actress Mercedes Masohn and One Tree Hill's Robert Buckley will also appear in the pilot, directed by The West Wing's Alex Graves.

Other drama pilots in the works at ABC include action thriller Last Resort from The Shield creator Shawn Ryan, Marc Cherry's Devious Maids and Natalie Portman's Scruples starring Claire Forlani and Boris Kodjoe.

Legend of the Seeker' star Craig Horner for The CW's 'Joey Dakota



Craig Horner has won the title role in CW pilot Joey Dakota.

The drama will focus on Maya (Amber Stevens), a documentary filmmaker working on a film about deceased rock star Dakota.

Travelling back in time to the 1990s, Maya meets and falls in love with the musician, becoming determined to prevent his death when she returns to the present.

Horner has now been confirmed to appear opposite Stevens, reports Deadline.

The Australian actor is best known for starring in fantasy series Legend of the Seeker from 2008 until the show's cancellation in 2010.

Other drama pilots picked up by The CW include an updated Beauty and the Beast starring Kristin Kreuk (Smallville) and Jay Ryan (Terra Nova) and the futuristic The Selection.

Comic book adaptation Arrow and medical drama First Cut are also in the works.

Stockard Channing, Kurt Fuller for Mandy Moore ABC pilot



Stockard Channing has signed up to star in the upcoming ABC comedy pilot starring Mandy Moore.

The currently untitled pilot stars Moore as Annie, one half of an unmarried couple who begin running a restaurant near her family.

West Wing and Grease actress Channing will star as Moore's overbearing mother Barbara in the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Wayne's World actor Kurt Fuller will star as father Steve, described as a "good natured guy".

Erinn Hayes and Majandra Delfino were previously cast in the single-camera comedy, written by Bob Fisher and Stacy Traub.

Sopranos' star Michael Imperioli joins NBC pilot 'County'



Michael Imperioli has joined the cast of NBC pilot County.

The drama, from Friday Night Lights exec Jason Katims, will focus on the medical staff at a troubled LA County hospital.

Imperioli will play Dr Mercer, a veteran doctor tasked with overseeing young interns, according to TVLine.

The actor is best known for playing Christopher Moltisanti on HBO's The Sopranos between 1999 and 2007. He also starred in the short-lived US remake of Life On Mars and ABC cop drama Detroit 1-8-7.

His latest project, Entourage creator Doug Ellin's pilot 40, was recently passed over by HBO.

Jason Ritter (The Event), Michael B Jordan (Friday Night Lights), Aimee Garcia (Dexter), Jess Weixler (Teeth) and Agam Darshi (Sanctuary) will also star in County.

Other drama pilots picked up by NBC include Dick Wolf's Chicago Fire with Jesse Spencer (House) and Taylor Kinney (The Vampire Diaries), futuristic sci-fi Beautiful People and Jekyll and Hyde update Do No Harm.

Chad Michael Murray joins ABC pilot 'Scruples



Chad Michael Murray has joined the cast of ABC pilot Scruples.

The fashion drama, based on the novel by Judith Krantz, will star Claire Forlani as Wilhelmina 'Billy' Hunnewell Winthrop, a woman who decides to reinvent her image and open Beverly Hills clothing boutique 'Scruples'.

One Tree Hill star Murray will play creative director and former photographer Spider, according to TVLine.

The role was previously played by Cougar Town's Barry Bostwick in a 1980 CBS adaptation of Scruples, which starred Bionic Woman actress Lindsay Wagner as Wilhelmina.

ABC's new adaptation, executive produced by Natalie Portman, will also star Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers), Noot Seear (Twilight: New Moon) and Karine Vanasse (Pan Am).

Murray is best known for playing Lucas Scott on The CW's One Tree Hill and also appeared on Dawson's Creek and The Gilmore Girls. His film credits include 2004's A Cinderella Story and 2005's House of Wax.

Michael Sucsy (The Vow) will direct the Scruples pilot, which is under consideration for ABC's 2012-13 television season

Jimmy Fallon NBC pilot adds 'The Cosby Show' star Tempestt Bledsoe



Tempestt Bledsoe has joined Jimmy Fallon's NBC comedy pilot.

The untitled sitcom, which has the working title DILFs, will focus on a trio of young fathers who struggle to adjust to adult life.

Bledsoe has been cast as the wife of one of the men, played by Transformers star Anthony Anderson, according to TVLine.

The 38-year-old is best known for playing Vanessa Huxtable on long-running NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.

Other stars attached to DILFs include Jesse Bradford (Flags of Our Fathers) and Zach Cregger (Friends with Benefits) as the other two male leads, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos) as the wife of Cregger's character.

The Office writer Charlie Grandy will script the pilot and will also executive produce alongside Late Night host Fallon.

Other comedy pilots picked up by NBC include new Roseanne Barr sitcom Downwardly Mobile, Go On starring Matthew Perry and a remake of UK series Friday Night Dinner with Alison Janney and Tony Shalhoub.

Arrow': CW superhero drama adds 'Charlie's Angels' star Annie Ilonzeh



Annie Ilonzeh has joined the cast of The CW pilot Arrow.

The superhero drama will star Stephen Amell (The Vampire Diaries) as DC Comics character Green Arrow / Oliver Queen.

Charlie's Angels star Ilonzeh confirmed to BET that she has won a recurring role in the project.

"I don't have any superpowers, but I'd love to get in there and find out my character has some, too," she said.

The actress added: "I'm a tomboy and I like to kick some ass. So if you randomly see a little leg kick [in a scene], that means I couldn't help myself."

Ilonzeh's past credits include a stint on ABC soap General Hospital and a role on HBO's Entourage.

Other stars attached to the Arrow pilot include Katie Cassidy (Gossip Girl), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil), Colin Donnell (Pan Am), David Ramsey (Dexter), Susanna Thompson (Once and Again), Willa Holland (The OC), Stephen Blackthorne (The River) and Jamey Sheridan (Homeland).

Arrow will be produced by Warner Bros TV, with Game of Thrones director David Nutter hired to helm the pilot.

Spooks' star Max Brown joins The CW's 'Beauty and the Beast



Max Brown has joined the cast of The CW's Beauty and the Beast pilot.

The drama, loosely based on an '80s CBS series, will star Smallville's Kristin Kreuk as homicide detective Catherine.

Terra Nova's Jay Ryan will also appear as 'beast' Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a botched military experiment.

British star Brown will play medical examiner Evan, who regularly assists Catherine with cases, according to Deadline.

The actor appeared on spy drama Spooks - known as MI-5 in the US - from 2010 to 2011, and was also a series regular on The Tudors.

Life Unexpected's Austin Basis will also star in Beauty and the Beast as Vincent's friend JT. Nicole Gale Anderson (Ringer) and Nina Lisandrello (Nurse Jackie) will play supporting roles.

Brothers & Sisters producers Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper have written and will exec produce the pilot.

A rival Beauty and the Beast drama is also in the works at ABC, starring Ruth Bradley and Darius Campbell in the lead roles.

The Event' star Necar Zadegan cast in medical pilot 'First Cut'



Necar Zadegan has joined medical drama pilot First Cut.

The CW project will follow young medic Emily (Mamie Gummer) as she navigates her tricky early days as a new doctor.

The Event star Zadegan will play Gina, a heart surgeon with a 'rock star' persona, according to Deadline.

The actress previously starred in the final season of 24 and recently appeared in episodes of A Gifted Man and Harry's Law.

Justin Hartley (Smallville), Aja Naomi King (Person of Interest), Kelly McCreary (White Collar) and Michael Rady (The Mentalist) are among the other stars attached to First Cut.

Gilmore Girls producer Jennie Snyder Urman has written the pilot, which will be directed by Bharat Nalluri (Torchwood).

Other drama pilots in the works at The CW include a remake of '80s series Beauty and the Beast and comic book adaptation Arrow.

Outsourced' star Ben Rappaport lands ABC pilot 'Awesometown'




Ben Rappaport has won the lead role in ABC pilot Awesometown.

The actor - who starred in short-lived NBC sitcom Outsourced - will play a character named Dusty, reports Deadline.

Devastated after he discovers his wife cheating, Dusty gets divorced and moves in with co-worker Andrew (Nick Kocher) and friend Oliver (James Earl III).

Awesometown will be written and executive produced by Adam Sztykiel, who previously scripted Robert Downey Jr film comedy Due Date.

Last year, Rappaport was attached to a CBS sitcom pilot, but the project was not picked up by the network.

His last show Outsourced was cancelled in May 2011, following accusations that the series was exploiting racial and cultural stereotypes.

Other comedy pilots in the works at ABC this season include an untitled sitcom starring Mandy Moore and Stockard Channing and a remake of UK series Only Fools and Horses.
