Parks and Recreation' Sarah Wright cast in NBC comedy pilot



Sarah Wright has been cast in an NBC comedy pilot.

The actress will play the lead character Agnes, a "shy, focused" chemist looking for revenge against her ex-fiancé who dumped her, according to Deadline.

Agnes will seek help in her revenge plot from her co-workers, one of which played by American Pie star Mena Suvari.

Kyle Howard has also signed up for the single-camera project.

The pilot is being developed by Community and Happy Endings writer Hilary Winston.

Wright recently appeared as Millicent Gergich, Jerry's daughter, on three episodes of Parks and Recreation.

Cougar Town' Dan Byrd for Louis CK comedy pilot



Dan Byrd has joined a Louis CK comedy pilot.

The Cougar Town star will play Fred - an intelligent film editor - in the CBS multi-camera project about a group of poor young people looking to achieve their dreams, reports Deadline.

The untitled comedy, written by Louis CK and to be directed by Andy Ackerman, is in second position behind Cougar Town for Byrd, which means the role of Fred will be recast if Cougar Town is picked up for another season.

Cougar Town co-star Josh Hopkins has also signed up for a pilot in second position. He is attached to NBC's Lady Friends.

Byrd previously appeared in the Emma Stone comedy Easy A and had a guest spot in sitcom Suburgatory.

He also played Luke Campbell for three episodes of Heroes in 2009.

Threesome' star Amy Huberman signs up for NBC's 'Animal Kingdom



Amy Huberman has been cast in NBC comedy pilot Animal Kingdom.

The Irish Threesome star will play female lead character Dorothy opposite Weeds actor Justin Kirk.

Dorothy is the former girlfriend of veterinarian George (Kirk), described as "intelligent and beautiful" by Deadline. Engaged to another man, she has been asked to run the animal hospital George works at.

George is said to be a House-like character who loves animals but hates interacting with people.

The single-camera project from Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka will be co-directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

Huberman previously appeared in TV series The Clinic and Your Bad Self, as well as the film Rewind.

Smallville' star Justin Hartley joins The CW pilot 'First Cut'



Justin Hartley has won a lead role in a new CW medical drama pilot.

First Cut - written by 90210's Jennie Snyder Urman - will focus on a young female doctor in the early stages of her medical career.

Smallville star Hartley will play Will, a handsome surgical intern who is popular with both his male and female colleagues, according to Deadline.

The actor's recent credits include guest roles on Chuck, Castle and a forthcoming stint on The CW's Hart of Dixie.

Hartley played Oliver Queen / Green Arrow on the network's Smallville from 2006 to 2011, but was not chosen to lead new pilot Arrow.

Instead, Vampire Diaries actor Stephen Amell will play the title role.

Other stars attached to the First Cut pilot include The Mentalist actor Michael Rady and White Collar's Kelly McCreary.

Dan Jinks (Pushing Daisies) will executive produce the project.

Hellboy II' actor Luke Goss joins ABC drama pilot 'Penoza'



Luke Goss has signed up for ABC pilot Penoza.

The actor, known for his roles in Hellboy II and Death Race 2, will play a bodyguard ordered to protect lead character Martha and her children.

After her criminal husband is assassinated, Martha is forced to take on the mobster's responsibilities to keep her family safe.

Based on the Dutch series, Penoza is written by Twilight writer Melissa Rosenberg.

The drama also stars Lee Tergesen.

Goss has appeared in the movie adaptation of Tekken. On television, he had a guest spot on Fox's sci-fi drama Fringe.

Pan Am' star Karine Vanasse joins Natalie Portman's pilot 'Scruples'



Karine Vanasse has joined Natalie Portman's new ABC drama pilot.

The Pan Am star will play an aspiring designer in fashion-based drama Scruples, according to Deadline.

Her character Valentine recently arrived in New York from Paris. Vanasse will only be able to accept the role full-time if Pan Am is cancelled, but the ABC drama is not expected to get a second season.

Portman will executive produce Scruples alongside Tony Krantz, whose mother Judith wrote the 1978 novel on which the project is based.

The book charts the life of Wilhelmina 'Billy' Hunnewell Winthrop, a woman who decides to reinvent her image and open Beverly Hills clothing boutique 'Scruples'.

The Wonder Years writer Bob Brush will adapt Scruples for television, with Michael Sucsy (The Vow) directing.

The book was previously filmed as a television mini-series for CBS in 1980, with Bionic Woman actress Lindsay Wagner as Wilhelmina.

Sex and the City' prequel 'The Carrie Diaries' adds Austin Butler



Austin Butler has been cast in The CW's The Carrie Diaries pilot.

The Life Unexpected actor will play the male lead character Sebastian Kydd in the Sex and the City prequel.

Based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell, The Carrie Diaries follows a teenage Carrie Bradshaw attending high school in the 1980s.

Sebastian, who goes to the same school as Carrie, is described as a "brooding heartthrob and ultimate insider" by Deadline.

AnnaSophia Robb previously signed on to play the role of Carrie, while Katie Findlay and Ellen Wong have also been added to the cast.

The Carrie Diaries is being developed by The O.C. and Gossip Girl showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

Butler has had guest spots on CSI: NY and Are You There, Chelsea?, and appeared in a recurring capacity on Switched at Birth.

Melissa McCarthy CBS pilot adds 'Numb3rs' star Judd Hirsch



Judd Hirsch has joined a CBS comedy pilot from Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy.

McCarthy will executive produce the untitled sitcom, which will star her husband and Bridesmaids co-star Ben Falcone.

The project will focus on David (Falcone), a 37-year-old who loses everything in a real estate collapse and is forced to move back in with his parents.

Hirsch has now been cast as David's father, according to Deadline.

The 76-year-old actor is best known for playing Alex Rieger on the sitcom Taxi from 1978 to 1983 and later starring in CBS series Numb3rs between 2005 and 2010.

His recent credits include the fourth season of Damages and film comedy Tower Heist.

Larry Dorf will also star in the CBS pilot, with Shana Goldberg-Meehan (Friends) also signed up to executive produce.

West Wing' star Annabeth Gish signs for 'Americana' pilot



Annabeth Gish has joined ABC's drama pilot Americana.

The former West Wing actress will appear alongside Without a Trace star Anthony LaPaglia and Twilight's Ashley Greene.

She will play a "fading beauty" who is the mother of Greene's Alice, according to Deadline.

Gish's recent credits include a stint on CSI and a recurring role on Pretty Little Liars.

Lost's Emilie De Ravin, Brothers & Sisters actor Ken Olin and The Descent star Natalie Mendoza are among the other names confirmed to appear in the Americana pilot.

The script has been written by Michael Seitzman, with Salt's Phillip Noyce attached to direct.

Other drama pilots picked up by ABC include a remake of Dutch series Penoza starring Luke Goss and an updated Beauty and the Beast starring Ruth Bradley and Darius Campbell.

Green Hornet' star David Harbour joins 'Midnight Sun' pilot



David Harbour has joined NBC drama pilot Midnight Sun.

The show, based on the Israeli series Pillars of Smoke, will follow Leah Kafka (Julia Stiles), an FBI agent who uncovers a conspiracy while investigating the disappearance of a cult.

Pan Am's Harbour will play Ethan Davis, a mysterious figure who runs the local Coast Guard, according to Deadline.

The actor has appeared in such films as 2008's Quantum of Solace and 2011's The Green Hornet. He will next be seen in Aaron Sorkin's new HBO drama The Newsroom.

The Walking Dead's Emma Bell, The Good Wife actor Titus Welliver and True Blood star Michael Raymond-James are among the other names attached to Midnight Sun.

The Event's Lisa Zwerling has written the Midnight Sun pilot, which will be helmed by The Machinist director Brad Anderson.

Other drama pilots picked up by NBC include Chicago Fire from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf and a remake of UK series Bad Girls.

Doctor Who' star Freema Agyeman joins 'Sex and the City' prequel



Freema Agyeman has joined the pilot for Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries.

The former Doctor Who star will play Larissa, an easy-going party girl who works at Interview magazine.

The character will serve as a mentor for the young Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb), according to Deadline.

Agyeman played Martha Jones on Doctor Who and spinoff Torchwood between 2006 and 2010 and also stars in ITV's Law & Order: UK.

Newcomer Brendan Dooling will appear in The Carrie Diaries as Walt, the title character's best friend.

Likely gay but unable to come to terms with his sexuality, Walt has trouble fitting into mid-1980s society.

Life Unexpected actor Austin Butler has also joined the pilot, alongside The Killing's Katie Findlay and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World star Ellen Wong.

The Carrie Diaries is being developed by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who have previously collaborated on shows such as Gossip Girl, The O.C. and Hart of Dixie.

Terra Nova' Jay Ryan joins Kristin Kreuk in 'Beauty and the Beast'



Jay Ryan has joined The CW's Beauty and the Beast pilot.

The project, loosely based on the '80s CBS drama of the same name, will star Smallville's Kristin Kreuk as NYPD detective Catherine.

Terra Nova's Ryan has now been cast as 'beast' Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a botched military experiment, according to TVLine.

The 30-year-old actor's other credits include Australian series Sea Patrol and New Zealand comedy-drama Go Girls.

Life Unexpected's Austin Basis will also star in Beauty and the Beast as Vincent's friend JT. Nicole Gale Anderson (Ringer) and Nina Lisandrello (Nurse Jackie) will play supporting roles.

Brothers & Sisters producers Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper have written and will exec produce the pilot.

A rival Beauty and the Beast drama is also in the works at ABC, starring Ruth Bradley and Darius Campbell in the lead roles.

The River's Paul Blackthorne, 'Homeland's Jamey Sheridan join 'Arrow'



Paul Blackthorne and Jamey Sheridan are the latest actors to join The CW's Arrow.

The pilot will feature Vampire Diaries actor Stephen Amell as DC Comics character Green Arrow / Oliver Queen.

The River star Blackthorne will play Detective Quentin Lance, the father of Queen's love interest Laurel (Katie Cassidy).

Lance is assigned to bring the vigilante Green Arrow to justice, but is unaware of Queen's double identity, according to Deadline.

Blackthorne will be credited as a guest star in the pilot, but will be promoted to a co-starring role if The River is not picked up for a second season.

Homeland actor Sheridan has also been cast as Queen's own father Robert. Susanna Thompson previously signed up to play the hero's mother Moria.

Game of Thrones director David Nutter will helm the Arrow pilot, which will be written and executive produced by Green Lantern's Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and The Vampire Diaries producer Andrew Kreisberg.

Other stars attached to the comic adaptation include Dexter's David Ramsey, The O.C.'s Willa Holland and Pan Am actor Colin Donnell.

Jeff Goldblum joins Sarah Silverman pilot 'Susan 313



Jeff Goldblum has joined Sarah Silverman's NBC comedy pilot.

The sitcom, now titled Susan 313, will star Silverman as a woman readjusting to being single after a decade spent in a relationship.

Goldblum will play her ex-boyfriend, according to Vulture.

The 59-year-old actor is best known for his film roles including 1986's The Fly, 1993's Jurassic Park and 1996's Independence Day.

His television credits include a starring role on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and a recent stint on Glee.

Lost star Ken Leung will also appear in Susan 313 as a new love interest for Silverman's character. Parks and Recreation's Harris Wittels and Party Down actress June Diane Raphael make up the remainder of the lead cast.

The project landed at NBC in August after reportedly sparking a bidding war between television networks.

Andre Holland joins NBC's '1600 Penn' comedy pilot



Andre Holland has signed up for a role in NBC's pilot 1600 Penn.

The comedy, which has been co-written by Barack Obama's former speechwriter Jon Lovett, focuses on the US President and his dysfunctional family.

Holland has now joined the cast of the project, TV Line says.

He will play the White House Press Secretary in the comedy.

Holland previously starred in the comedy Friends With Benefits and has had guest spots in shows such as Damages and Law & Order.

News of his casting comes after Bill Pullman signed up to play the President in 1600 Penn.

Brittany Snow will star as the President's daughter Becca, while co-writer Josh Gad will play her brother Skip.

Edy Ganem to star in ABC drama pilot 'Devious Maids'



Edy Ganem is the latest actress to sign up for a role in ABC's pilot Devious Maids.

The drama, which is being developed from a Mexican format by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, focuses on a group of four maids working for wealthy residents of Beverly Hills.

Scrubs star Judy Reyes has already signed up to play Zoila, one of the four maids.

Ganem has now joined the cast and will play Zoila's teenage daughter Valentina, who works with her mother, Deadline reports.

Ganem has previously appeared in shows including Entourage, CSI and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and recently had a guest spot in Rob.

Reyes will be joined by Roselyn Sanchez, Ana Ortiz and Dania Ramirez in Devious Maids.

Other stars appearing in the project include Angelique Cabral and Rebecca Wisocky.

Noot Seear has landed a role in ABC's pilot Scruples.

The drama, based on a book by Judith Krantz, focuses on a woman who decides to reinvent herself and opens a boutique in Beverly Hills.

Seear has now joined the cast of the project, Deadline reports.

She will play Melanie, a model who becomes a celebrity.

Seear is probably best known for playing Heidi in the Twilight movie New Moon.

News of Seear's casting comes shortly after Pan Am star Karine Vanasse signed up to play an aspiring designer in the project.

Scruples is being executive produced by Krantz's son Tony Krantz and Black Swan star Natalie Portman.

The medical drama focuses on a socially awkward new doctor called Emily who discovers that life at her hospital is similar to life in high school.

King is the latest star to join the cast, Deadline reports.

She will play a surgical intern in the project.

Smallville's Justin Hartley recently signed up to play an intern, while Michael Rady and Kelly McCreary will star as a surgical resident and an intern respectively.

First Cut is being penned by Jennie Snyder Urman, who has previously worked on shows such as Gilmore Girls, Lipstick Jungle and 90210.

Robbie Amell has signed up for a lead role in Fox's pilot Like Father.

The comedy focuses on a father who reunites with his son after the death of his wife.

Amell has now landed the part of the son, Will, TV Line says.

He will join Eureka star Colin Ferguson, who has already been cast as the father.

Amell previously starred in True Jackson, VP and has had guest roles in shows like How I Met Your Mother, Revenge, CSI: NY and Alcatraz.

Like Father is being developed by Bill Lawrence, who previously created Scrubs and Cougar Town.
