Selma Blair confirmed for Charlie Sheen sitcom 'Anger Management'

Selma Blair has been confirmed to star in Charlie Sheen's upcoming sitcom Anger Management.

The Cruel Intentions actress will play the therapist of Sheen's character when the comedy launches on FX in June.

Blair will also serve as his love interest, according to WENN.

She is believed to have beaten Bones actress Jenica Bergere and Elaine Hendrix of 90210 to the part.

Blair's hiring follows confirmation that Saw's Shawnee Smith will play the ex-wife of Sheen's alter ego, a former baseball player turned anger therapist.

Showrunner Bruce Helford recently described Anger Management as a "smarter" comedy and insisted that Sheen is "a strong actor".

Andre Braugher To Star In Shawn Ryan’s ABC Drama Pilot ‘Last Resort

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy winner Andre Braugher is set to lead the ensemble cast of ABC’s drama pilot Last Resort, executive produced by Shawn Ryan and written-executive produced by Karl Gajdusek. The Sony TV-produced project centers on the crew of the U.S.S. Nevada, a nuclear submarine, who, after disobeying a suspicious order, become fugitives. They land on the island of Sainte Marina, where they take over the NATO Listening Station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation. Braugher will play Capt. Marcus Chaplin, the commander of the U.S.S. Nevada, a veteran of real combat, a leader by nature and a patriot, but will not follow any man blindly. Braugher, repped by WME and Principato-Young, won Emmys for his lead roles on Homicide and Thief. He most recently starred on the TNT dramedy Men Of A Certain Age, which earned him 2 Emmy nominations. This marks the second military-themed ensemble drama from Ryan to cast an well-known black actor as the lead, following the CBS series The Unit, which starred Dennis Haysbert.

Jon Favreau to direct JJ Abrams 'Revolution' pilot for NBC?

Jon Favreau is to direct the pilot episode of JJ Abrams's Revolution for NBC, reports suggest.

The Iron Man star will take the director's chair on the Lost creator's new action drama, according to Deadline.

This is the first time that Favreau will direct a television drama pilot, in spite of his extensive experience as a movie director.

He has some previous experience in TV direction, most notably helming the pilot of David Arquette comedy In Case of Emergency and an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! last July.

Revolution was picked up by NBC earlier this month and is to be written by Abrams in collaboration with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.

The show has been described as an "epic adventure thriller", charting the survival of a group of characters in a world where all forms of energy have ceased to exist.

Pilots recently ordered by NBC include a remake of UK prison drama Bad Girls and sci-fi show Beautiful People.

Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer's reimagining of The Munsters, which has been given the title Mockingbird Lane, has also been ordered to pilot by the Peacock Network.

Jessica Lucas has landed the lead role in The CW's pilot Cult.

The drama, which is being executive produced by Gossip Girl's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, focuses on a television show which becomes controversial when fans seem to begin copying crimes featured in the series.

Her character teams up with a blogger to investigate the fans who are apparently taking their devotion to the show too far.

Lucas's previous television credits include Life As We Know It, Edgemont, CSI, 90210, Melrose Place and Friends With Benefits.

She has also appeared on the big screen in movies such as Cloverfield and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son.

Mistresses' US remake to air on ABC

ABC has ordered a remake of the British drama Mistresses.

The network has decided to skip the pilot stage with the project and the show's first season will be aired in summer 2013, Deadline reports.

The cast included Terra Nova's Shelley Conn and Fringe's Orla Brady alongside Pillars of the Earth's Sarah Parish and Sharon Small, who recently appeared in an episode of Downton Abbey.

The American remake of Mistresses has been written by Gossip Girl writer KJ Steinberg, who previously created The Nine.

Steinberg is already working on ABC's pilot Gilded Lillys, a period drama focused on the first luxury hotel in New York. The project is being executive produced by Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes.

Other pilots currently in the works at ABC include Portia de Rossi comedy The Smart One, a new show from the creator of Desperate Housewives and a drama about the crew of a nuclear submarine.

Arrow': CW pilot will be 'sophisticated, edgy' says network exec

The CW's Thom Sherman has claimed that the network's new Green Arrow series will be "sophisticated and edgy".

The development head told Entertainment Weekly that central character Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) resembles both Matt Damon's Jason Bourne and Sylvester Stallone's Rambo.

"It's very provocative and sophisticated and edgy," he explained. "It's not as comic book-y as Smallville or other [superhero projects] from other networks."

Arrow will be produced by Warner Bros TV, with Game of Thrones director David Nutter hired to helm the pilot.

"[Queen] doesn't have any superpowers, he's a very grounded character like a Jason Bourne - we use the term 'Rambo'," said Sherman.

"His skill-set is that he's an archer, but he also has physical strength and prowess. He's clever and able to devise ways of taking down a bad guy that are unique and fun to watch."

Green Lantern's Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim will write and executive produce Arrow, alongside The Vampire Diaries producer Andrew Kreisberg.

Justin Hartley played the Green Arrow character on The CW's Smallville from 2006 to 2011.

Other drama pilots in development at The CW include Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, time-travel musical Joey Dakota and a modern-day Beauty and the Beast update.

Romantic drama The Selection and JJ Abrams / Mark Schwahn project Shelter are also in the works.

Game of Thrones helmer David Nutter will direct the Arrow pilot for Warner Bros TV.

Green Arrow was created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp as an archery-themed take on Batman for 1941's More Fun Comics #73. Justin Hartley previously played the character in Smallville between 2006 and 2011.

Ramsey is best known for portraying Anton Briggs on Showtime's Dexter. He has also appeared in CBS drama Blue Bloods.

Munsters pilot Mockingbird Lane has reportedly been postponed by NBC.

Pushing Daisies creator creator Bryan Fuller and X-Men director Bryan Singer have been commissioned by the Peacock Network to create a one-hour, modern-day reimagining of the classic sitcom for the 2012-13 pilot season.

However, Variety's TV blog On the Air now claims that filming on the show has been delayed until summer in order to give it extra attention.

This would instead put it in contention for the 2013 midseason.

NBC has declined to comment on the speculation.

'Bridemaids' star Melissa McCarthy comedy pilot picked up by CBS

A comedy pilot from Melissa McCarthy has received a late order from CBS.

The Bridesmaids actress is working on an as-yet-untitled single-camera comedy in collaboration with her husband Ben Falcone.

The show was purchased on spec just three weeks ago, according to Deadline. Falcone will write the script alongside Fun with Dick and Jane star Larry Dorf, while Emmy award winner McCarthy will serve as executive producer on the project.

Falcone will also star in the Warner Bros-produced show, which is about a 37-year-old man who ends up living with his parents after losing everything in a real estate market collapse.

McCarthy stars on CBS comedy Mike & Molly alongside Billy Gardell.

Chris Rock has recently revealed that he is writing a comedy script with McCarthy in mind, starring the pair as a married couple who "indulge in some boisterous dysfunction".
