Homicide' execs developing A&E half-hour cop drama
A&E is developing a new half-hour cop drama with the producers of Homicide: Life on the Street.
Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson will reunite on The Box, which will take place largely within the confines of an interrogation room.
Two scripts, planned to be written by Fontana, have been ordered by the cable network, according to Deadline.
Each episode of The Box will focus on a small ensemble of detectives and their interactions with a key suspect or witness.
"The Box takes the most thrilling scene of a crime procedural and puts it at centre stage in a unique format," said A&E President Bob DeBitetto.
If picked up to series, the project would be produced by Levinson, Fontana, George Stelzner and NCIS director Arvin Brown.
Fontana and Levinson are also developing a second cop drama with The CW. Musketeers 3.0 will follow three veteran New York officers who are thrown when an attractive, young rookie joins their team.
