TNT and TBS have announced details of their official 2011-12 television schedule.
The final season of The Closer will launch with 15 episodes in late 2011, and will continue with six more in the summer of 2012, leading into the launch of new spinoff series Major Crimes.
Ten episodes of Major Crimes have currently been commissioned, with actress Mary McDonnell reprising her role as police captain Sharon Raydor.
TNT is also developing a number of original movies expected to debut in November and December, including adaptations of the Scott Turow novel Innocent and Richard North Patterson's Silent Witness.
Other adaptations in the works include television films based on Sandra Brown's Ricochet, Lisa Gardner's Hide, April Smith's Good Morning, Killer and Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark's Deck the Halls.
The cable network will also air new seasons of Rizzoli & Isles, Men of a Certain Age, Leverage, Hawthorne, Memphis Beat and Southland. New series due to debut in 2011 include alien invasion drama Falling Skies and legal comedy-drama Franklin & Bash, while the Eric McCormack-starring Perception will air in 2012.
In addition, TBS has ordered ten episodes of hour-long comedy The Wedding Band starring Desperate Housewives actor Brian Austin Green and Lost's Harold Perrineau. The show is slated to premiere in the summer of 2012. The channel will also air a new season of Conan O'Brien talkshow Conan.
"We understand that exceptional programming comes from working with exceptional talent," said Michael Wright, executive vice president and head of programming for TNT and TBS. "We hire the best actors, actresses, writers, producers and directors in the business, give them a clear creative target and then try to get out of their way and let them make terrific television."
