Actor 'dies' five times in a day

A veteran Hong Kong actor was killed off in five different TV shows in just one day last week, a probable record number of on-screen deaths for an actor over a period of only 24 hours.

TV viewers witnessed the death of five characters all played by Law Lok Lam in five different shows, reports the South China Morning Post.

While the 63-year-old acting star is still very much alive, the character he played for Hong Kong broadcaster TVB in ‘Grace Under Fire’ got beaten to death during prime time on 6 April.

On the same day he also starred as Ming emperor Zhu Yuanzhang in ‘Relic of an Emissary’, a programme in which his character died of an illness.

On 7 April, the characters he played in TV shows ‘Police Station No. 7’ and ‘Virtues of Harmony’ all took their last breaths as well. Though neither of their deaths were shown on screen they were discussed in the programmes.

Viewers also watched the actor vomiting blood on the same day before passing away in another show, ‘Fate to Fate’.

TVB have branded the multiple deaths "purely a coincidence", and Law Lok Lam himself does not seem to mind what fate his on-screen personas face.

"When I get a job, I don't care if my character in the drama will die. If he is supposed to die, he should go on and die," he said in a video posted on YouTube by the Hong Kong broadcaster.

The reports of his many TV deaths have, however, reportedly upset his daughter.

My god the numbers for the CBS Comedies suck plus I feel bad for Hawaii Five-O with that bad rating it got this week because Castle is getting a massive lead in thanks to Dancing With The Stars, I say move Hawaii Five-O to Tuesdays next season at 10 after NCIS & NCIS Los Angels and move The Good Wife to Friday at 8 followed by Blue Bloods & CSI NY

I also think Chuck, The Event & Law & Order Los Angels are all going to be axed as their ratings are falling badly.

Here the Rest uncertain

LOOKING GOOD
These shows will almost certainly be back next season, but their networks have yet to officially renew them.
90210 (The CW) ... Should be back.
America's Next Top Model (The CW) ... No reason this CW favorite won't be back.
Big Brother (CBS) .. Should be back.
Blue Bloods (CBS) Looking good to return, as this is an overseas hit as well.
Bones (Fox) ... Fox just needs to make it official.
Criminal Minds (CBS) ... Another steady procedural that isn't going anywhere.
CSI (CBS) ... As if you even have to ask! This will be back.
CSI: Miami (CBS) ... CBS just needs to make it official.
Desperate Housewives (ABC) ... On the cusp of a Season 8 renewal.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC) ... Should be back.
The Good Wife (CBS) ... This will be back for a third season.
Gossip Girl (The CW) ... Should be back next season, but the season after that is in doubt, as the cast won't be under contract.
Grey's Anatomy (ABC) ... A no-brainer for renewal. This show may never end.
Hawaii Five-O (CBS) ... Guaranteed to return.
House (Fox) ... A sure thing, Fox just needs to make it official.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC) ... It'll be back.
The Mentalist (CBS) ... More Patrick Jane is certain.
Mike & Molly (CBS) ... Poised to bury its face in a plate of seconds.
Minute to Win It (NBC) ... If you're one of the four Guy Fierifans out there, you're in luck. This mindless hit has found a home withNBC and will always be around to plug holes in the network's schedule.
NCIS (CBS) ... Would YOU cancel a show that regularly draws 20 million viewers? Neither would CBS.
NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) ... CBS is into successful spin-offs. Should return, no problemo.
Secret Millionaire (ABC) ... A cheap-to-produce reality show that brings in 10-million-plus viewers? Should be back in some form.
The Vampire Diaries (The CW) ... You can bet your life this show will be back.

TOP

NOT LOOKING GOOD
None of these shows have officially been canceledyet, but they're long shots to return. Networks will announce the fatesof most of these shows in May.

America's Next Great Restaurant (NBC) ... Its first season isn't impressing anyone, even by NBC standards. You can probably stick a fork in it.
The Cape (NBC) ... One of the season's biggest flops.
Chase(NBC) ... After initially giving this procedural a full-season pickup,NBC woke up and pulled it from the schedule. Not coming back.
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior (CBS) ... Lots of trouble right out of the gate. Future is uncertain.
The Defenders (CBS) ... Like Jim Belushi, not looking good.
Detroit 1-8-7 (ABC) ... Chances look slimmer and slimmer each day.
The Event (NBC) ... Will ride out its first season, but the chances of renewal are slim to none.
Human Target (Fox) ... Probably on the wrong side of the bubble after escaping cancellation last year.
Live to Dance (CBS) ... Let's just say Paula Abdul won't be happy.
Mr. Sunshine (ABC) ... Courteney Cox may have shaken the post-Friends curse, but Matthew Perry can't. Not looking good for renewal.
No Ordinary Family (ABC) ... One episode was banished to a Saturday, and both stars (Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz) have booked new pilots. Writing is on the wall.
Off the Map (ABC) ... Starting to flatline.
Perfect Couples (NBC) ... Already pulled from schedule to make room for The Paul Reiser Show. Practically canceled.
Shedding For the Wedding (The CW) ... Off to a bad start. Not sure The CW would want this back.
V (ABC) ... This troubled sci-fi series survived the bubble last year, but should be jettisoned into space this season.

TV CASTINGS: Three More Join Broadcast Pilots, 'Titanic' Miniseries Locks In Cast

Cynthia McWilliams, who is recurring on Fox's The Chicago Code, has landed a lead role on CBS' untitled sports radio show pilot. The multicamera comedy, from veteran writer-producers Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, is inspired by ESPN personality Colin Cowherd’s outspoken sports talk show. It centers on Nick (Damon Wayans), an egotistical sports-radio host with a quick wit and cocky likability. McWilliams will play his wife, the mother of two kids from a previous marriage and stepmom to Nick's son from his previous marriage. Formerly the owner of her own company, with an MBA, Megan has given up her career to be at home with the children -- and it's starting to get to her.

Rachel Fox, who was a regular on ABC's Desperate Housewives, has joined another CBS multicamera comedy pilot, Vince Uncensored, starring Michael Chicklis as Vince who, after brain surgery following an aneurysm, starts speaking his mind -- literally. APA-repped Fox will play his youngest daughter.

Shirley Rumierk has landed the last regular role on ABC's Tim Allen/Jack Burditt comedy pilot starring Allen as guy fighting for manhood in a world of women.

ABC, which recently announced a deal for producer Simon Vaughn's internationally produced four-hour miniseries Titanic, today announced the cast of the project, set to begin production May 9 in Budapest, Hungary. The mini, from Nigel Stafford Clark and Julian Fellowes, a re-telling of the doomed voyage that weaves action, mystery and romance and features both fictional and historical characters, will star Linus Roache (Law & Order), Geraldine Somerville (the Harry Potter films), Noah Reid (Three Inches), Linda Kash (Cinderella Man), David Eisner (Flashpoint), Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones’s Diary), Toby Jones (Captain America), Perdita Weeks (The Promise), Lee Ross (Centurion), Jenna-Louise Coleman (Waterloo Road), Sophie Winkleman (Peep Show), Steven Waddington (The Tudors), David Calder (The World is Not Enough), James Wilby (Gosford Park), Antonio Magro (Little Dorrit), Dragos Bucur (The Way Back), Stephen Campbell Moore (Ben Hur), Lyndsey Marshal (Hereafter), Mark Lewis Jones (Robin Hood), Ruth Bradley (Primeval), Peter McDonald (The Damned United) and Sylvestra Le Touzel (Amazing Grace). Jon Jones will direct the mini, slated to premiere next year, which marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the HMS Titanic.

HBO Greenlights Comedy Series 'Veep' Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus

EXCLUSIVE: Julia Louis-Dreyfus is returning to primetime, this time on cable. HBO has picked up to series Veep, the D.C.-set comedy pilot from British comedian, writer and director Armando Iannucci, which stars the Seinfeld alumna. Set "very near the White House," Veep centers on former Sen. Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus), who becomes Vice President only to discover that the job is nothing like she expected and everything everyone ever warned her about. Co-starring in the project are Anna Chlumsky as her chief of staff, Tony Hale as her right-hand man and Sufe Bradshaw as her assistant as well as Reid Scott, Tim Simons and Matt Walsh. Iannucci co-wrote and directed the pilot. He executive produces the series with Chris Godsick and New York Magazine's Frank Rich, who has a deal with HBO. Simon Blackwell, who co-wrote the pilot with Iannucci, co-executive produces, and Louis-Dreyfus serves as producer. Veep begins production this fall for a 2012 premiere.

This is the second consecutive female-centered comedy pilot ordered to series at HBO following the January pickup of the Lena Dunham pilot executive produced by Judd Apatow. Louis-Dreyfus has won two Emmys, one for NBC's Seinfeld and one for CBS' The New Adventures of Old Christine. She has had a presence at HBO with a recurring role on Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm, where she plays herself. HBO's latest series, fantasy drama Game of Thrones, premieres tomorrow night.
