Framework-repped Knepper will play the town sheriff, an unhinged veteran Confederate whose bizarre behavior alternates between Southern courtliness and a hair-trigger temperament.

Lombardo Boyar has landed a lead in in Rob Thomas' single-camera comedy pilot for Fox Little in Common. The WBTV-produced pilot is about three families united through their kids’ Little League sports. It centers on the Wellers (Rob Corddry, Paula Marshall), who move from San Jose, Calif., to Austin, Texas, but find that their adjustment won't be quite that easy considering their Latino neighbors, the Pachecos, have a radically different approach to child-rearing than they do, while their other new neighborhood acquaintances, the African American Burlesons (Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union), take sports very seriously. Del seems to be winning the battle until mysterious newcomer Jared O'Neal (Jesse L. Martin) arrives in town. Cullen, repped by Domain and Lovett Management, will play Sherriff Bob Clement, a corrupt local lawman in the pocket of Del. Scarfe, repped by Greene & Associates and Jackson/Medavoy, will play Rye's brother Caleb, a self-confessed miserable sinner.

Chavez, managed by KLWG, will play Manny, who works for a drug kingpin as well as the cops.

Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) has joined NBC's untitled Whitney Cummings comedy pilot, from UMS and Stuber Pictures. The project, written by Cummings, centers on young couple Whitney (Cummings) and Alex (Chris D'Elia), who tackle the ups and downs of a committed relationship in today’s complicated world. Pancholy, repped by Buchwald and Brillstein, will play their straight but metrosexual friend Neal.

JAG alum David James Elliott has been added to the cast of ABC's dramedy pilot Good Christian Bitches. It stars Leslie Bibb as Amanda, a mother of two and onetime “mean girl” in high school who returns home to Dallas humbled following a scandalous divorce, hoping to get a second chance at winning over her old classmates. Elliott will play the husband of one of Amanda's former classmates, Darlene (Kristin Chenoweth). Elliott, repped by Paradigm and Rain Management, is recurring on CSI.

Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin has joined the CW/WBTV one-hour pilot The Secret Circle. Written by Andrew Miller and Kevin Williamson and based on the book series from L.J. Smith, Secret Circle tells the story of a young woman (Britt Robertson) who moves to a new town and discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a secret coven, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil. Tonkin, repped by ICM and Australia's Marquee Management, will play Faye, part of the witches' circle.

Dylan Walsh To Star In CBS Cop Drama Pilot

EXCLUSIVE: Former Nip/Tuck star Dylan Walsh has been tapped as the male lead opposite Poppy Montgomery in CBS' untitled Ed Redlich/John Bellucci pilot. The project, which will be directed by The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo helmer Niels Arden Oplev, centers on Carrie Wells (Montgomery), a former detective and now a volunteer at a nursing home. She possesses the special ability to remember everything, which turns out to be a gift and a curse. Walsh will play Detective Al Burns, the chief of a crack team of NYPD detectives. Back in Syracuse, Al worked with Carrie, the best cop he'd ever met and the love of his life. However, Carrie's unique ability  effectively destroyed their relationship. Now engaged to another woman, Al runs into Carrie when her neighbor is murdered outside their apartment building and eventually enlists her as an expert "consultant" for the department. The setup and dynamic between the characters is reminiscent of that between Simon Baker's Patrick Jane and Robin Tunney's Teresa Lisbon on CBS' The Mentalist. Walsh signed on for the Redlich/Bellucci pilot after fielding multiple offers. The project hails from CBS TV Studios, Sony TV and Timberman/Beverly Prods. It reunites Walsh with CBS, the two studios and producers Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly. Last year, Walsh starred in the CBS drama pilot The Line, from Sony TV and Timberman/Beverly. Earlier this development season, he was attached to an FBI drama project for CBS from CBS TV Studios and Timberman/Beverly. NBC Renews Comedies 'The Office', 'Parks And Recreation' And 'Community

All of NBC's returning Thursday comedies will be coming back next year. The network today renewed veteran The Office (sans Steve Carell), Parks and Recreation (with Rob Lowe) and Community for next season. They join 30 Rock, which was given an early pickup late last year when the network announced its move to 10 PM. "I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively,” said NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt.  “Along with 30 Rock, they represent the best of what the NBC comedy brand stands for in terms of originality, wit, and sophistication. The Office continues to fire on all cylinders on the most competitive night of television; Parks & Recreation has come into its own this season as the rightful companion to The Office; and Community is one of the freshest comedies on any network and a solid foundation for Thursday night."

With all 4 established Thursday comedies coming back and 13 comedy pilots ordered by Greenblatt this development season, the renewal chances of any of the network's freshman comedies, Outsourced, Perfect Couples and the few that are yet to premiere, including Friends with Benefits and The Paul Reiser Show, are slim to none. And Greenblatt's statement, anointing Parks & Rec as "the rightful companion to The Office" could be a sign that the comedy starring Amy Poehler may stay in the 9:30 PM slot next season.

The Office is delivering a 4.0/10 in adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers and ranks as NBC's #1 scripted show. The Office is also the #2 most upscale primetime show on the broadcast nets, behind only 30 Rock. Season-to-date, Parks and Recreation is averaging a 2.8/7 in 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall. With its move this season to Thursday's 9:30 p.m. half-hour, Parks and Recreation is up versus last season by 17% in adults 18-49. Community is averaging a 2.1/6 in 18-49 and 4.7 million viewers overall.

Damon Wayans To Star In CBS' Sports Show Comedy Pilot

In one of the biggest talent deals this pilot season, Damon Wayans has been tapped to star in CBS' untitled sports radio show pilot. The multicamera comedy, from veteran writer-producers Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, CBS TV Studios and the Tannenbaum Co., is inspired by ESPN personality Colin Cowherd’s outspoken sports talk show. It centers on Nick (Wayans), an egotistical sports radio host with a quick wit and cocky likability who is adored by his fans. When he's on the air, Nick says he is "right about everything." But the moment he steps out of the booth, "I'm just a schmuck trying to keep three women from freaking out on me." The deal with Wayans, which took several weeks to close, is said to be for a top-dollar acting fee and a substantial piece of the show's potential backend. On TV, Gersh-repped Wayans most recently starred on ABC's long-running sitcom My Wife and Kids, which he also co-created.

LIKE FATHER LIKE SON: Donald Sutherland And Damon Wayans Jr. Cast In Pilots

Two father-son duos have booked pilots this season. Donald Sutherland is set to co-star in NBC's comedy My Life As an Experiment. His son Kiefer Sutherland toplines Fox's drama pilot Touch. Meanwhile, Damon Wayans Jr. has been tapped as one of the three male leads in Fox's untitled Liz Meriwether comedy pilot (aka Chicks & Dicks). His casting comes hours after his dad, Damon Wayans, closed a deal to star in CBS' untitled sports radio show comedy pilot.

NBC's My Life As an Experiment, from Sony, Reveille and Jack Black's Electric Dynamite, centers on magazine immersion journalist A.J. Wilder (Jon Dore), who explores all sorts of unique experiences. Paget Brewster plays A.J.'s wife Stacie. Sutherland will play Stacie's dad and A.J.'s father-in-law, a highly respected, very accomplished heart surgeon and a pompous, arrogant guy to boot who makes no secret of his disdain for his writer son-in-law. This is a departure for Sutherland, who is coming off three back-to-back drama series: Commander in Chief, Dirty Sexy Money and Pillars of the Earth.

Fox's Liz Meriwether project, from 20th TV, is described as an ensemble comedy about the sexual politics of men and women. It centers on Jessica (Zooey Deschanel), an optimistic but unlucky-in-love elementary school teacher who, after her most recent break-up, moves out of her apartment with her ex and moves in with three juvenile guys: the beer-loving hunk Schmidt (Max Greenfield); the sweat pants-prone Coach (Wayans Jr.), an out-of-shape trainer; and bartender Nick (Jake M. Johnson). For Wayans Jr., the pilot is in second position to ABC's comedy series Happy Endings, which premieres next month. The WME-repped actor recently appeared in the feature The Other Guys.

Jimmy Smits To Star In NBC's Stephen Gaghan Drama Pilot

Jimmy Smits has been tapped as the last major lead in NBC's untitled Stephen Gaghan drama pilot (formerly S.I.L.A.), a complex ensemble drama in the style of Traffic and Syriana set in the world of crime, law enforcement and politics in sprawling modern-day Los Angeles. The pilot, from 20th TV, Chernin Entertainment and Gaghan's Unsupervised, centers on Los Angeles Mayor Alfonso Morales (Smits) and his Special Investigations Unit led by detective Terry Mullins (Noah Emmerich), who has returned to LA to re-connect with his 15-year-old daughter Jennifer (Emma Dumont) and try to get along with his ex-wife, high-powered attorney Mary McCarthy (Madchen Amick). Morales is described as a man full of ambition who cares deeply about his city, power and women, perhaps in reverse order.

Smits was the first actor approached by Gaghan for the pilot. The NYPD Blue alum had originally planned to sit this pilot season out but was drawn to the opportunity to work with an A-list filmmaker like Gaghan on a character drama, a genre rarely seen on broadcast TV these days. Also appealing to Smits was the chance to reunite with new NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt, who ran Showtime when Smits did a season-long arc on Dexter, a stint that earned him an Emmy nomination. The pilot brings Smits back to NBC where he hit stardom with his Emmy-winning role on L.A. Law. The actor, repped by Brillstein Entertainment, attorney Tom Hoberman and UTA, also co-starred on the network's White House drama The West Wing and, most recently, toplined NBC's Outlaw last season.

In the meantime, he's learning the ropes from his fellow assistants who know how to tip-toe around their neurotic boss and her equally crazy husband.

After TV explorer husband Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) goes missing in the Amazon, his son Lincoln (Joe Anderson) and wife Tess (Leslie Hope) go on a rescue expedition. Kretschmann, who recently signed with APA, will play an ex-military badass who is in charge of security for the mission to the Amazon.

Kennedy, repped by Gersh and Armada Partners, will play another member of the coven of witches.

Marco Grazzini has booked two pilots this season. He is a regular in ABC's Poe, a crime procedural following Edgar Allan Poe (Chris Egan), the world’s very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston. Grazzini will play the beau of Poe's muse Sarah (Tabrett Bethell). Additionally, Grazzini, repped by Ambition Talent & Zero Gravity Management, will guest star in CW's Awakening.
