Johnny Depp new movie 'In the Hand of Dante' finds director

Johnny Depp is to team up with Julian Schnabel for an adaptation of historical literary thriller In the Hand of Dante.

The actor's production company Infinitum Nihil bought the rights to Nick Tosches's book about Dante Aligiheri's The Divine Comedy in 2008.

Depp is not expected to start developing the film with Schnabel for another few years, according to The Playlist.

Schnabel, who directed the controversial Miral, told the site: "It belongs to Johnny, but I'm not going to make it for a couple of years.

"We're gonna work on writing it, developing it. We didn't sign anything. It's just something Johnny asked me to read and I think it's a great book."

Depp is planning to play the character of Nick Tosches, a rare books expert and scholar determined to find out whether a newly-discovered manuscript sold as an original work from Dante is the real thing, the site claims.

The narrative of the best-selling novel spans from 14th Century Italy to the present day.

Depp is reportedly considering signing up for a possible fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger to film 'Last Stand' in September

Arnold Schwarzenegger is to begin shooting Kim-ji-Woon's Last Stand in September.

The actor-turned-politician put the project on hold in May after a scandal broke out about the lovechild he fathered with his housekeeper.

The western centres on a man who is forced to decide whether to have one last battle when disruptive strangers arrive in his town.

A Lionsgate studio executive told Deadline: "It's a property which a zillion directors fell in love with: the good, the bad, the weird.

"It's an old-fashioned Western specifically designed for a 63-year-old broken-down guy with a moral decision - whether Arnold decides to stand up for his town. We always needed an iconic figure for it."

Another industry figure said that Schwarzenegger's performance in The Expendables had "electrified" audiences, despite the fall-out from the star's personal life.

Liam Neeson was attached to the leading role before Schwarzenegger expressed an interest, the site claims.

Schwarzenegger is reportedly keen on meeting the child he fathered with Mildred Baena, following his wife Maria Shriver's decision to file for divorce.

Zombieland' director doubts sequel will happen

Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer has said that a sequel to the horror comedy is becoming less and less likely to happen.

The 2009 film starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin and was both a critical and commercial success. However, Fleischer has revealed that it is proving difficult to work around everyone's busy schedules.

"I can promise you it's something we all want to do," Fleischer told Coming Soon. "I think the reality of it happening is getting less and less real.

"It's just harder and harder every day because everybody's gotten really busy and the reality is that we've never had a script that we've all just fallen in love with. Until there's a script that we all can say, 'This is it', it's more of an idea than an actual thing that we can work towards prioritising and realising."

Fleischer also said that even though he and the cast were keen to begin work on a sequel, it would be good to have a gap between the two films.

"It's not like it's going to pick up right where they left off," he added. "I think some time passage might be cool."

Fleischer is currently beginning pre-production on his new drama Gangster Squad starring Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn.
