Simon Pegg, Nick Frost rule out 'Paul' sequel

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have admitted that the chances of them making a Paul sequel are slim.

The duo revealed that they had come up with a follow-up idea for their alien road movie - tentatively titled Pauls - but probably wouldn't be able to find time to make it.

Pegg told Digital Spy: "We were heading to Area 51 to do some promo for the film in the US and being back on the very road that we took on our research trip in 2007, we started to have ideas for this sequel.

"We came up with what we both thought was quite a fun idea. If it came up, [we would make it], the trouble is if we started writing it now it wouldn't be out for three years."

Pegg admitted that the amount of time it would take to digitally create other aliens to accompany Seth Rogen's Paul is the main stumbling block for a potential sequel.

"We'd have to write it, shoot it, there's nine months of post-production to create Paul," he said. "If there's more than one Paul it'd take longer. Until the technology gets cheaper and quicker we'll probably do something else."

Frost added: "I think our window for Pauls is probably closing."

Jim Carrey open to 'Mask', 'Ace Ventura' sequels

Jim Carrey has hinted that he is considering starring in sequels for both Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and The Mask.

Ace Ventura has already spawned both a 1995 follow-up and an animated television series, as well as the 2007 movie Ace Ventura Jr., which was produced without Carrey's involvement.

A second Mask instalment was initially announced on the movie's release in 1994, but the project was abandoned after Carrey refused to sign on.

Carrey has now revealed that he is open to revisiting several of his past successes.

The 49-year-old joked to Extra: "I think I should be a part of one of my sequels, finally. I am in the mood to revisit a couple of things that I did. Kids are coming up to me about The Mask and Ace and all these things constantly. You know, [it's a new] generation [of fans]."

Carrey disclosed earlier this month that he is also open to returning for Dumb and Dumber and Bruce Almighty sequels, saying: "We're talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been asking about."

Mr. Popper's Penguins, Carrey's latest movie, is released on June 17 in US cinemas and on August 5 in the UK.

Robert Downey Jr, Jon Favreau: 'Iron Man 3 will be tricky

Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau have revealed that filming Iron Man 3 in the wake of The Avengers may present a number of difficulties, especially in terms of the storyline.

The Cowboys & Aliens director was joined by Downey Jr at the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood on Sunday for a screening of the first two Iron Man movies. According to Slash Film, the two spoke about the future of the Iron Man franchise, focusing on how the release of The Avengers will affect Iron Man 3.

"I guess in comics you can say that it's an individual storyline and you can break it off into a group," said Favreau. "But in movies, it's hard not to take into consideration what just happened. What are you gonna say? 'They all just lost their cell phones and you can't get help?' So it's going to take a lot of ingenuity to make it make sense to a mainstream film audience as well as a comic book audience."

Favreau, who directed the first two Iron Man movies, left the franchise to make Magic Kingdom. He will be replaced by Shane Black for the third instalment.

Downey Jr went on to state that Favreau will still help with the storyline for Iron Man 3.

"There's going to be this kind of conglomerate of efforts," Downey Jr said.

The Sherlock Holmes star also opened up about shooting The Avengers, revealing his enthusiasm for the ensemble cast.

"I just thought, 'How are you gonna put all of us clowns together? He's wearing a suit, he's all jacked up, he's so and so and poor Mark Ruffalo, he's gonna out do us'. And we're about six weeks in and I have to say Joss Whedon is nailing it," Downey Jr said. "He's so smart and so good. And it's gonna be great. I can't believe I just said it, I never could've believed this but it's gonna be great."

The Avengers is scheduled to open in cinemas on May 4, 2012.

Christian Bale in talks for Aronofsky's 'Noah

Christian Bale has reportedly entered talks to star in Darren Aronofsky's Noah movie.

The Black Swan director is said to be keen to secure Bale's services to lead his biblical epic, which is allegedly carrying a budget of $130 million (£79m).

Studio New Regency is seeking to co-finance the ambitious Noah's Ark project with either Paramount, Summit Entertainment or 20th Century Fox.

Bale's involvement will help to raise the money needed to make the movie and give it leverage in foreign territories, according to Vulture.

Aronofsky first revealed his desire to make Noah in a 2008 interview with Slash Film.

"It's the end of the world and it's the second most famous ship after the Titanic," he said. "It's a really cool project and I think it's really timely because it's about environmental apocalypse, which is the biggest theme for me right now for what's going on on this planet."

Noah is also being planned as a graphic novel, written by Aronofsky with illustrations by Canadian artist Nico Henrichon.
