McG, Scheuring develop ABC crime drama

Producer McG has teamed with the creator of Prison Break to develop a new crime series for ABC.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Paul Scheuring will work with the Terminator Salvation director on I, PI, which will follow a private investigator.

The currently unnamed lead character will draw his inspiration from the detective shows he watched in his childhood, such as Magnum PI and Simon & Simon.

Scheuring will write the script for the pilot episode, with McG expected to direct.

McG currently serves as executive producer on upcoming spy drama Nikita and is also developing a new version of Charlie's Angels for ABC.

CSI' creator plans Bourne TV spinoff

CSI creator Anthony Zuicker is developing a new spy drama for CBS.

Deadline reports that Treadstone will follow Treadstone 71, a black-ops arm of the CIA. The organisation was originally introduced in author Robert Ludlum's series of Jason Bourne novels.

Eagle Eye writer John Glenn will pen the script and will also executive produce. CBS TV Studios and Zuicker's company Dare to Pass will co-produce the pilot.

The project has received a script commitment from the network.

Zuicker previously announced that he would be rejoining the CSI writing team for the upcoming 11th season.

A new Bourne movie is also currently in development.
