Fuller: 'Friday The 13th sequel is ready'

Producer Brad Fuller has revealed that a sequel to Friday The 13th has been written.

Fuller, who also produced The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and A Nightmare on Elm Street, tweeted that another sequel to the popular slasher series is on the way.

"I want to set the record straight on Freddy and Jason... First, let's talk Jason. [Damian] Shannon and [Mark] Swift wrote a great script. We are ready to go, when New Line is ready. But as of yet, they are not ready," Fuller wrote.

Fuller stated last year that a sequel was not a possibility. "It is dead - not happening," he said.

However, it now appears as though studio commitment is all that is needed before the sequel can get under way.

On a possible follow-up to last year's A Nightmare On Elm Street reboot, Fuller was less optimistic, adding: "As for Freddy, as far as I know, there isn't even talk of writing another script."

Cameron: 'Avatar 2 will feature better 3D'

James Cameron has revealed that he plans to improve 3D technology for Avatar 2.

Cameron, who directed the original Avatar, spoke to Speakeasy about shooting the sequel to the 2009 blockbuster.

"For Avatar 2, what I'm most interested in is getting theatres to up their light level," Cameron said. "And we want to shoot the movie at 48 or maybe even 60 frames a second, and display it at that speed, which will eliminate a lot of the motion artifacts that I think are causing some people problems."

Cameron went on to discuss the cause of the nausea that some individuals experience when viewing a film in 3D.

"People talk about feeling sick or something like that, and I think it's because the image is strobing," Cameron stated. "That's a function of the 24-frame frame rate, which has actually got nothing to do with 3D."

Cameron continued: "It's just made more apparent because the 3D is otherwise such an enhanced, realistic image, that all of a sudden you're aware of this funky strobing which you weren't aware of."

Tyler Perry As Alex Cross In James Patterson Franchise Reboot

QED has packaged an adaptation of I, Alex Cross, the James Patterson novel that is essentially a reboot of the James Patterson mystery series that starred Morgan Freeman as the detective/psychologist based in D.C. Tyler Perry will headline this version, and Rob Cohen will direct. Distributors are circling the project right now. In fact, Paramount, which distributed the Cross mysteries Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider, is interested in taking the project off the table. It will be interesting to see if Lionsgate steps up after Perry has consistently turned in winners for the minimajor, which collects a distribution fee on pictures that Perry owns. The Alex Cross reboot was originally conceived as a vehicle for actor Idris Elba, who was going to play the character in the novel Cross, with David Twohy directing. Perry became the lead in recent weeks. It's likely to be a controversial choice, and the key will be whether Perry can bring the considerable following that follow his directing vehicles. His biggest successes came when Perry played the female alter ego, the stereotypical matriarch Madea.

He last directed For Colored Girls, an adaptation of the iconic 1975 play by Ntozake Shange. His movies usually have a strong female following, and the Cross mysteries are action mystery which appeals to a male viewing audience. It is a radical departure for Perry, who usually stars in the films he writes and directs (Star Trek was an exception). Lionsgate recently acquired Take My Wife, a comedy that will star Perry and Dwayne Johnson. Cohen is an interesting choice as director, and has a franchise track record: he launched both the XxX and The Fast and the Furious franchises. I'm told that the plan is for Perry to star in a trilogy. QED partners Bill Block and Paul Hanson will produce. WME reps both Perry and Cohen.

Stewart, Agron linked to Lois Lane role

Kristen Stewart and Glee star Dianna Agron are reportedly in the running to play Lois Lane in the new Superman movie.

According to What's Playing, Rachel McAdams, Jessica Biel and Malin Akerman, the star of Superman director Zack Snyder's Watchmen, are also in contention to play Clark Kent's Daily Planet colleague and love interest.

A source claimed that Stewart is unlikely to sign up for the superhero picture because she has "too many other juicy offers", while Agron has been "getting in the door" to audition for several high-profile movies.

Anne Hathaway has allegedly been removed from the Lois Lane shortlist after winning the role of Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance and Kate Bosworth have previously portrayed Lois Lane on screen.

Henry Cavill will play the title role in Superman, due out in cinemas in December 2012.

Both of those actresses sound like poor choices in my opinion.

Javier Bardem has admitted that he is "intrigued" by the idea of starring in the next James Bond movie.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Bardem confirmed that he has met with director Sam Mendes about playing the latest Bond villain opposite Daniel Craig's secret agent.

Jackman 'gaining weight for Wolverine'

Hugh Jackman has revealed that he is consuming up to 6,000 calories per day in order to bulk up for his role in The Wolverine.

The actor - who has gained 20lbs since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine - told the Los Angeles Times that director Darren Aronofsky felt that his character needs to put on weight to bring the story to life.

"Darren said with the last one, 'Hey you looked great, but you're so tall that in those long shots you looked kind of like Clint Eastwood, and that's not Wolverine'," he explained.

"He said that Wolverine, in the comics, is powerful, stocky - you know, he's short and thick. So he said, 'I want you to go there, get bigger'."

Jackman added that he believes the project will please fans, saying: "I feel like all the planets are finally aligned to make a great movie.

"I think we're going to make one that people will describe as the best of the bunch."

The Wolverine will hit theatres worldwide in 2012.
