Darren Aronofsky may reboot 'Superman'
Director Darren Aronofsky may direct the Christopher Nolan-produced reboot of Superman, it has been announced.
Aronofsky reportedly met with Nolan, according to the LA Times. Aronofsky, whose latest film Black Swan has earned early Oscar buzz, famously resists taking on bigger-budget studio pictures. However, since Nolan is looking to bring an auteur vision to the comic mythology, Aronofsky appears to be interested.
Other directors in the running include Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Duncan Jones, Zack Snyder and Jonathan Liebesman.
Aronofsky claims that he is currently developing Robocop, the remake of the 1980s action movie. Yet, as there are rumours that the project is on hold due to the financial problems at MGM, Aronofsky may be free to take on Superman.
"I think I'm still attached," Aronofsky said of Robocop at the Toronto International Film Festival. "I don't know. I haven't heard from anyone in a while."
