M. Night Shyamalan has been discussing his plans for the future of the Airbender franchise.

The Signs director revealed that he has written a draft for a second sequel, suggesting that he also wants to make a third instalment.

He told MTV: "The third one is more ambiguous, but the second one I've written a draft that I'm really happy with and is darker and richer. It has a wonderful antagonist in it in Azula, who is kind of our only real pure antagonist in the series so I'm excited about that."

The Last Airbender has so far made $79m (£52m).

Speaking of its DVD release, Shyamalan said: "I probably won't show the Kyoshi Warriors because I want to save them for the second movie, because I'm going to have to introduce them all over again. We shot [the scene] and they were amazing, and we spent an unbelievable amount of time choreographing them."

Norton's Hulk out of 'Avengers'?

Edward Norton will not return as The Hulk in the upcoming adaption of The Avengers, according to sources.

HitFix claims that Marvel Studios intend to give the role to an unknown actor if they decide to keep the character in the superhero movie at all, in order to keep down production costs.

Norton's involvement in the project has long been in doubt despite the success of 2008's The Incredible Hulk, with the Fight Club actor recently urging fans to write to Marvel in order to get him cast.

Norton was also denied a cameo as The Hulk's alter ego Bruce Banner in the recent Iron Man 2, thereby severing a link to The Avengers, where the two heroes are meant to form an alliance.

The Avengers is due for release in 2012 and will feature Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, with the latter two each receiving their own individual movies next year.

Marvel wants 'team player' for Hulk role

Following reports that Edward Norton has been dropped from the upcoming Avengers film, Marvel Studios have revealed that they will cast a name actor for the role of Hulk.

Marvel have now confirmed yesterday's reports that Norton will not be reprising his role of The Hulk following his appearance in The Incredible Hulk in 2008.

Spinoff Online reported in a statement from Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege that the decision was not made for financial reasons, but because the studio wanted an actor who "embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members".

"The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble," Fiege's statement reads. "We are looking to announce a name actor who is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."

It is expected that an announcement of who will take on the role will be announced at Comic-Con International later this month.

The Avengers will star Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and is scheduled to open on May 4, 2012.

Norton agent responds to Marvel comments

Edward Norton's agent has attacked Marvel Studios' statement concerning the actor reprising his role as the Hulk.

Studio president Kevin Feige made comments regarding the recasting of the role for the Avengers movie, saying that they were looking for a "team player" to take on the role.

"This offensive statement from Kevin Feige at Marvel is a purposefully misleading, inappropriate attempt to paint our client in a negative light," said Brian Swardstrom of WME in an open letter to HitFix.

He said that Norton had met with director Joss Whedon and entered into "civil, uncontentious discussions" with Marvel before the studio pulled out.

"Counter to what Kevin [implied], Edward was looking forward to the opportunity to work with Joss and the other actors in the Avengers cast, many of whom are personal friends of his," said Swardstrom.

"Feige's statement is unprofessional, disingenuous and clearly defamatory. Mr. Norton's talent, tireless work ethic and professional integrity deserve more respect, and so do Marvel's fans."

Chris Evans enthuses over Cap costume

Chris Evans has expressed his delight over the costume for Captain America: The First Avenger.

Leaked concept art for the costume shows a familiar design which lacks the head-mounted wings of the original.

"It's an amazing costume," Evans told Empire.

"Given the fact that his costume is red, white and blue, and it's tight, and it could be kind of flash and over the top - and given the fact that the movie takes place in the '40s and '50s - they've done a really good job of making it look really cool.

"I think everyone that's going to see it is going to say, 'Okay, well done. Well done. I think they got the costume right. The casting they completely ruined, but the costume they nailed.'"

No photos or stills of Evans in his costume have been released as of yet.

Angelina Jolie explains 'Wanted 2' exit

Angelina Jolie has explained why she dropped out of starring in Wanted 2.

The actress, who can next be seen in spy thriller Salt, revealed that she did not like the idea of bringing her assassin character Fox back from the dead.

She told ComingSoon: "Being dead makes it difficult. They were [trying to bring me back] but I kind of feel like if I die in a movie, I should die actually. I'm that way, and that character is not as complex as Salt. It would just be doing the exact same thing in another movie, so it's not that interesting to me."

Twilight star Kristen Stewart has recently been linked to a role in the Wanted sequel, although the actress denied that she is signed up to appear in the action movie.

Norton: 'Avengers won't work out for me'

Edward Norton has responded to his recent exclusion from the upcoming Avengers film.

The star was reportedly axed from the role of the Hulk last weekend after Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege claimed that the production sought an actor who "embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members".

In a message on his official Facebook page, Norton thanked fans for their support and admitted that he is "sad" to have let down followers of the comic series.

"As most of you know, I don't like to talk much about the business of making movies because it means a lot to me to protect the audience's fullest enjoyment of the 'magic' that films can have," he wrote.

"But I am so appreciative of the outpouring of support from fans of the Hulk and The Avengers that I feel it would be rude not to respond. So there goes: It seems it won't work out for me to continue playing Bruce Banner for Marvel in The Avengers. I sincerely hoped it could happen and be great for everyone but it hasn't turned out as we all hoped."

He continued: "I know this is disappointing to many people and that makes me sad. But I am so grateful to Marvel for extending the offer and even more so for the chance to be part of the Hulk's long and excellent history. And I really can't thank the fans enough for how much enthusiasm you've sent my way about what Louis and I tried to do in our turn with the legend. It means a lot to me."

Norton added that he has been a fan of the character since he was a child.

"I grew up with Banner and Hulk and have been a fan of every incarnation. I'm really proud, and very blessed, to have been one of them and will be thrilled to see him live on through other actors. Hulk is bigger than all of us, that's why we love him, right?"

It was earlier rumoured that Joaquin Phoenix has been offered the role of the Hulk in place of Norton.

Seyfried lands sci-fi film 'I'm.mortal'

Amanda Seyfried will lead the cast of sci-fi action movie I'm.mortal, reports Variety.

The project, from Gattaca writer-director Andrew Niccol, centres on a society where ageing stops at 25 and those wishing to live longer must buy and bank extra time to continue their life.

Seyfried will play a rich hostage who goes on the run with a rebel from the ghetto after he is accused of murdering someone to steal their time.

Niccol admitted that finding actors in their mid-twenties for every role has resulted in "a strange casting process".

He said: "Even for a small role like a priest or a pawnbroker, where you would normally cast a 75-year-old character actor, I have to find a 75-year-old character actor in a 25-year old body."

Niccol's other directing credits include S1m0ne and Lord Of War. The New Zealand-born filmmaker also had a hand in the scripts for Peter Weir's The Truman Show and Steven Spielberg's The Terminal.
