Chris Nolan: '3D is extremely alienating'

Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan has said that 3D films are "extremely alienating".

Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, the filmmaker claimed that modern 3D pictures don't offer the full brightness of conventional films shown in cinemas.

"The truth of it is when you watch a film in here, you're looking at 16 foot-lamberts. When you watch through any of the conventional 3D processes you're giving up three foot-lamberts. A massive difference," Nolan explained.

He added: "You're not that aware of it because once you're 'in that world', your eye compensates, but having struggled for years to get theatres get up to the proper brightness, we're not sticking polarised filters in everything.

"On a technical level, it's fascinating, but on an experiential level, I find the dimness of the image extremely alienating."

However, Nolan added that he wouldn't rule out shooting his next Batman movie in 3D.

"There is no question if audiences want to watch films in stereoscopic imaging, that's what the studios will be doing, and that's what I’ll be doing," he said.

Eva Mendes: 'People find me funny'

Eva Mendes has revealed that she is happiest as an actress when performing in comedic films.

In an interview with W, the star said that she was grateful for her role in upcoming movie The Other Guys as it gave her a chance to portray a humorous character.

The story revolves around Mendes's dancer-turned-doctor Sheila Gamble, whose police officer husband (played by Will Ferrell) is completely unaware of how attractive she is.

"It's very hard for me to be seen as funny, and the truth is, that's where I'm most comfortable," she explained.

"These are the two comments I get from people when they meet me. 'You seem a lot taller on film', and, 'You're funny'. If people hang out with me, they see I'm a ham."

Mendes added that she found the project "completely liberating" as it allowed her to delve into different sides of herself than she is usually able to as an actress.

"Never have I had so much fun with a character and felt so natural at it. Had I done this movie three years ago, I wouldn't have had the confidence to throw it back at Will, and now, if anything, I was overly confident. I didn't know when to stop!"

The Other Guys opens in the US on August 6.

Jennifer Aniston's rep has revealed that the actress's role in upcoming film Horrible Bosses is much racier than anything she has done in the past.

The 41-year-old will not be completely nude on screen, but the part did require Aniston to tap into her sensual side, reports People.

The plot revolves around three friends and their plan to murder their bosses in order to relieve themselves of the stress and unhappiness of work.

"The part is provocative and sexual, but also hysterically funny," the rep said.

"There are no plans for her to go fully nude or topless, but the role does require an aggressive sexuality that many folks have not seen from Jennifer on screen before."

Aniston can next be seen in The Switch, which will be released in August.
