'Indiana Jones V' plot details revealed?

An alleged plot description for the next Indiana Jones movie has been revealed.

The untitled adventure film will reportedly be Harrison Ford's last in the series and also see Shia LaBeouf return as the archaeologist's son Mutt Williams.

An insider allegedly told New Zealand website Stuff that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have been "working on a script and it's almost there" for Indiana Jones V. The story is said to involve the Bermuda Triangle, a location over the North Atlantic Ocean where aircraft have vanished under mysterious circumstances.

The source said: "Harrison is on stand-by for filming next year. This looks like being an emotional and exciting conclusion to the franchise, with Indy facing his biggest challenge yet.

"Shia LaBeouf has a central role again as Indy's son but this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie."

2008's Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull grossed more than $780 million at the worldwide box office, but received mixed reviews from critics and fans of the series.

Not quite Tora-san on slow-train coming

By MARK SCHILLING
The Japanese have a love affair with trains, especially the ones that trundle through the more picturesque parts of the country. One sure way to draw tourists to your rural prefecture is an ancient steam locomotive that chugs through a pretty middle-of-nowhere. For many visitors, it's not the destination, but the train journey.

Railways        Rating: (3 out of 5)

All aboard: Kiichi Nakai does his job in "Railways." © 2010 "RAILWAYS." SEISAKU IINKAI
Director: Yoshinari Nishikori
Running time: 130 minutes
Language: Japanese

[See Japan Times movie listing]
The long-running Tora-san (1969-1996) and "Tsuribaka Nisshi" ("Diary of a Fishing Fool," 1988-2009) series visited a different, often remote, part of Japan in each episode (though given its piscatorial theme, "Tsuribaka," didn't spend a lot of screen time up in the mountains). Fans enjoyed these perambulations, whether by train or not.

Robot Communications, maker of many successful commercial films, has combined the two themes of travel and trains in one heartwarming, if predictable, cinematic package, with the aim of spinning out another hit series.

Produced by Robot founder Shinji Abe, Yoshinari Nishikori's "Railways," is distinctly different from Tora-san and "Tsuribaka," however. For one thing, instead of a bumbling, but lovable tramp (Tora-san) or lazy, but lovable salaryman ("Tsuribaka") hero, "Railways" centers on a high-powered executive, played by Kiichi Nakai.

Cruise confirmed for Les Grossman film

Tom Cruise has been confirmed to produce and star in a film based on his Tropic Thunder character Les Grossman.

The actor recently revived the character at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards where he danced with Jennifer Lopez and repeated some of Grossman's more questionable catchphrases.

Co-producer Ben Stiller released a statement today on behalf of Paramount Pictures, which read: "Les Grossman’s life story is an inspiring tale of the human class struggle to achieve greatness against all odds.

"He has assured me he plans to, quote, ‘F**king kill the sh*t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honoured to be working with him.”

Paramount President Adam Goodman added: “Everything I learned in this business, I’ve learned from Les. I started out as his assistant and from the first day he threw his desk at me when I got his lunch order wrong, I have loved him like a father.”

Producer debunks 'Indiana Jones V' rumours

Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall has dismissed storyline and start date rumours for a fifth instalment in the action-adventure franchise.

Reports surfaced earlier this week claiming that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas had hatched a Bermuda Triangle-based storyline for Indiana and his son Mutt, and that stars Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf would return to film the project next year.

"The rumour about INDY 5 is completely false," Marshall wrote on his Twitter page. "Nothing has changed, we are not shooting next year and still in the research phase..."

LaBeouf recently said that 2008's Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull "dropped the ball" and failed to live up to the standards set by the first three Indy films.
