Chris Pine to play Captain America?

Paramount and Marvel have Chris Pine at the top of a shortlist of actors being considered for the movie role of Captain America, it has been claimed.

CinemaSpy revealed that it has been given information on the upcoming Captain America film by a tipster, who claimed to be "well-connected" within Paramount.

The source said: "Just thought you guys might like to know that Paramount and Marvel are pretty close to closing a deal on casting Steve Rogers/Captain America and fans might be excited to learn that the short list includes somebody a lot of fans speculated about, Chris Pine.

"From what I'm hearing, he's the frontrunner right now, though that could change. Can't tell you who the other couple of choices are, cause that'll work against me for reasons I don't want to get into."

Pine's current film schedule suggests there is a window for the actor to take on the role.

The First Avenger: Captain America, directed by Joe Johnston, is scheduled to be released on July 22, 2011.

Michael Douglas 'happy with Wall Street 2'

Michael Douglas has said that he is happy to be apart of the sequel to Wall Street.

The 65-year-old, who reprises his role as ruthless financier Gordon Gekko in the update, claimed that the movie illustrates the recent financial downfall of the US.

Speaking to The Sun, Douglas said: "There was a recession when the first movie arrived in 1987. There's a recession now.

"Greed, which Gekko declared as being good, hasn't just survived but has thrived amid easy credit, sub-prime mortgages and an America that ignored the signs of an oncoming market collapse.

"We brought Oliver Stone a script. Stone, the son of a stockbroker, wanted to do it."

The actor, who won an Oscar for his part in the 1987 original, also insisted that the character is "exciting" to watch.

Douglas added: "Gekko might have charm but he is a reptile at heart. There's a sense that there could be an eruption at any time and that is exciting for an audience."

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps arrives in cinemas on April 23.

Emily Blunt: 'Horror films are fascinating'

Emily Blunt has admitted that she was never a fan of horror movies as a child.

The Wolfman actress revealed that classics such as The Exorcist and Jaws terrified her while growing up but she finds them fascinating as an adult.

Speaking to Teen Hollywood, the 26-year-old said: "It's funny because I had never really done the horror genre, or certainly not the monster movie genre. And I love doing something I've never done before so that was cool. Benicio's (Del Toro) the freak about the horror movies. He is so well-researched. He's seen every one of them 20 times.

"But I was a really nervous child so I never wanted to go watch horror movies. I remember the first one that stands out to me was The Exorcist and I didn't sleep for weeks. And then Jaws as well which is kind of a horror movie in some ways. I have a real problem with the ocean. And with the unknown, the depths of the unknown."

Blunt added: "Maybe that's what so fascinating about monster movies. You're dealing with the supernatural element, the unknown forces. Maybe that's why people are so fascinated by the Ouija board, whether ghosts exist, where do we go when we die? I think that's why these movies will always be so relevant and of interest to people. Because we just don't know."

The Wolfman, starring Blunt and Del Toro, is currently playing in US and UK cinemas.

Emily Blunt: 'I love wearing corsets'

Emily Blunt has revealed that she "loves" wearing corsets.

The actress, who sports a corset in The Young Victoria and The Wolfman, said that she finds them to be "transporting".

Speaking to Teen Hollywood, Blunt said: "I don't know why I managed to go from one corset to another. It was not my intention. But I actually love the physical elements of creating a part. And once you've got the costumes on, they're so ethereal and alien.

"And they feel so strange when you first put them on that you almost don't have to do anything. You don't have to worry about moving differently or standing differently because it does everything for you."

The 26-year-old added: "So I find the costumes quite transporting and particularly if they are as beautiful as the ones I've gotten to wear. Milena Canonero designed beautiful, exquisite costumes for this film. And very creative in that she incorporated a lot of kind of animal materials into them. Furs, feathers. It was really cool.

"But I also like to wear jeans and a T-shirt because then you're really free."

The Wolfman is currently playing in US and UK cinemas.

Tarantino 'wants to make a Western'

Quentin Tarantino has revealed that he would like to work on a Western.

The director, whose film Inglorious Basterds has been nominated for eight Oscars, added that he would like to explore slavery in his next project.

"I'd like to do a Western," Tarantino told the New York Daily News. "But rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves."

He added: "You could do a ponderous history lesson of slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad. Or you could make a movie that would be exciting.

"Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time. And I would call it a 'Southern'."

Goode: 'I shouldn't have been in Watchmen'

Matthew Goode has claimed that he was miscast as villain Ozymandias in comic book drama Watchmen.

Speaking to Metro, the British actor revealed that director Zack Snyder had cast him in the role after failing to secure Jude Law.

"There were many reasons I shouldn't have been cast in that film and I think people were quite p*ssed off. I'm lucky I don't own a computer," Goode said.

"The negative feedback was relayed quite well by friends of mine: 'Oh my God, everyone hates you, man. It's awesome.' When I got there to start filming, all the artwork still had Jude Law's face on it so I figured he was meant to be doing this but was too expensive. That was good for me."

Goode can currently be seen in A Single Man and stars opposite Amy Adams in rom-com Leap Year, released in the UK on February 26.

Lerman: 'Jackson, Potter very different'

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief star Logan Lerman has spoken out about comparisons between his movie and the Harry Potter franchise.

The action fantasy revolves around a boy (Lerman) who discovers that he is half-human and half-god, and sets out on a quest with two friends to rescue his mother from the Underworld.

Speaking to BlackBook, he said: "I think a lot of people are saying that mainly because Chris Columbus's name is attached to both films and we are selling it as, 'From the director of Harry Potter'.

"However, they're different movies. Do we want it to be as successful and as loved [as] the Harry Potter films? Of course, but they're pretty different stories."

He added: "This movie is transferring Greek mythology into the modern day. It's paralleling classic myths and introducing a new demi-god into the modern day world."

Lerman, 18, previously said that his character had little in common with wizard Harry Potter "except that he's an unlikely hero who's been thrown into a huge situation".

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief is in cinemas now.

Ivan Reitman 'aware of Ghostbusters demand'

Director Ivan Reitman has announced that he's well aware of the interest in Ghostbusters 3 among fans of the franchise and members of the original cast.

The helmer added that it was the video game adaptation that got buzz for another instalment in the series going again.

"Certainly, Sony has been all over us for about two decades now, trying to get this going," Reitman told Sci Fi Wire at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

"We have this sort of very interesting deal in which we really control the forward progress of the movie. [Sony] did a very interesting thing. They actually hired these two writers on their own, without consulting us, and basically said, 'We're going to start."

Reitman also praised screenwriters Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, saying: "[They are] very good writers, fortunately, and they wrote a first draft that was pretty good, considering that they didn't really talk to us that much. And I've since then been working with them for the last four or five months, just trying to get more of the kind of spirit of the film into it."

But the filmmaker went on to caution that the project is still in its very early stages. "There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm from everybody [about the return of original stars Billy Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Sigourney Weaver].

"We'll see. It's still not a reality. There are no deals. There's no real finished script," he continued.

Now, that would definitely make me watch James Bond movies, lol. I can actually picture him as the next James Bond. However, he'd really only want to do one or two of them like Craig or he'll only ever be remembered as Bond.

I think he has a look of a younger Pearse Brosnan.

Johnny Depp: 'Green screen is exhausting'

Johnny Depp has claimed that working with green screen technology for Alice in Wonderland was exhausting.

The actor plays the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's upcoming digitally-shot adaptation of the Lewis Carroll story.

Depp told The Daily Telegraph: "The novelty of the green wears off very quickly. It's exhausting, actually.

"I mean, I like an obstacle - I don't mind having to spew dialogue while having to step over dolly track while some guy is holding a card and I'm talking to a piece of tape. But the green beats you up. You're kind of befuddled at the end of the day."

He added: "Tim is that guy who will get up on that high wire and juggle double-edged daggers to amaze and astound us all. He couldn't have bitten off anything bigger to chew. This is almost lunatic time.

"To choose to grab Alice in Wonderland, that in itself is one thing, and then to do it to the Tim Burton level is madness. It's so huge because, whether it's the CGI or the green screen or the 3D or the live action, he's done it all here. It's the greatest undertaking I've heard of."
