'Iron Man 3' to feature alcoholism?

Iron Man comic book artist Bob Layton has claimed that the third movie in the blockbuster franchise could see superhero Tony Stark slip into alcoholism.

Layton, who co-created the War Machine character and consulted on the script for the forthcoming Iron Man movie, suggested that a further sequel will be based on the 'Demon In A Bottle' storyline from the original Marvel comics.

He told MTV: "I think they've come up with a terrific segue to the third film, which I think is going to be fairly powerful. My understanding is that the third film could very well be the 'Demon In A Bottle' story mixed in there with everything and I'm kind of looking forward to that, if that's where they wind up going."

Iron Man 2, starring Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, opens in the UK on April 30.

Gyllenhaal, Damon considered for 'Avatar'

James Cameron has admitted that Jake Gyllenhaal and Matt Damon were considered for the Avatar lead role.

Cameron revealed that the Hollywood A-listers, who studio 20th Century Fox felt would be easy to market, were considered for the part of paraplegic marine Jake Sully before he picked unknown Sam Worthington to portray the character.

"[Gyllenhaal and Damon] were bandied about," he told MTV. "The studio was interested in having a name, I think really just for the part of it we're doing right now, which is: 'How do you sell this movie? What are the handles on this thing that we can sell it to the media somehow or get media attention?'"

He continued: "Having a name actor gets you on talk shows and all that sort of thing. So there was some value to that idea, and we explored it."

Ultimately, Cameron decided to cast Australian Worthington: "We kept coming back to Sam. Sam was the guy who just... he was the guy."

Maguire talks 'Spider-Man 4' delays

Tobey Maguire has broken his silence about the recent Spider-Man 4 script delays.

The actor told The AP that he is not dismayed, despite the film's May 6, 2011 release date allegedly being in jeopardy.

"Like anything, it's a process. We're just in the midst of the process. We have a lot of great stuff in terms of story and script. We're just trying to dial it in and get it ready as quickly as possible," he said.

"Of course, these movies are a very big undertaking and take a lot more time than a drama or something more straightforward."

The Brothers star claimed that no matter what happens, he is enthusiastic about Spidey's future.

"Not only do I have specific ideas, but the ideas are evolving on the page," he added. "It's all happening right now. It's all sort of coming together.

"It's very exciting to me. I think the evolution of the character is really exciting, to be rooted in the history of what we've done already and to have a continuity, yet have a progression or evolution."

De Luca outlines 'Ghost Rider' sequel

Producer Mike De Luca has lifted the lid on the follow-up to Sony Pictures' superhero movie Ghost Rider.

In an interview with Collider, De Luca revealed that the sequel will carry the subtitle Spirit Of Vengeance and serve as a series reboot. He also confirmed that the film will be based on a script penned by David Goyer in 2001.

"Goyer has just delivered that outline to us in the studio and we're waiting to hear back and then we'll know if we can go to that revised script," he said. "But since we're starting from something already written, it's been a pretty speedy process."

Nicholas Cage has been tipped to reprise his role as Johnny Blaze but Eva Mendes's character Roxanne Simpson is "not part of the sequel". According to De Luca, the project could begin filming this year.

The producer also expressed an interest in bringing in Goyer to helm the venture, should his schedule allow it. "I'd be excited to have that conversation with David if and when we get up to that point and schedules permit," he added.

A potential release window for Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance is yet to be announced.

Cooper 'can't wait for Hangover 2'

Bradley Cooper has said that he is so keen to start filming a sequel to The Hangover that he would sign up to the project even if the script was terrible.

The comedy was one of the surprise hits of 2008, amassing $459m (£287m) during its box office run.

Cooper told The Independent: "Even if it's not a good script, I'd do it! When you have an experience like this with people you get along with, it's a rarity. So if someone says, 'Do you want to spend three months doing it again?' In a heartbeat!

"It's a very intimate thing you go through, shooting a movie. You find out whether you really like somebody, or you very much dislike somebody pretty fast. It's like doing a sport together."

Gyllenhaal 'glad to bulk up for Persia'

Jake Gyllenhaal has admitted that he has always wanted to be an action hero.

The actor, who plays a young prince in the film adaptation of the video game Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, has insisted that he enjoyed bulking up for the role.

The 29-year-old told Empire: "I'd come off a lot of films that were very character-driven and I had exercised all those muscles, it was time to try something else. It's so much fun to just run around and fight. It's like what I always dreamed of doing when I thought about being an actor as a little kid.

"And then I made all these movies where I was like... I mean, I like all the stories I made, but I've always wanted to do this. It's a legitimate action movie!"

The Brothers star also admitted that he spent half a year in the gym getting fit for the role.

Gyllenhaal added: "How did I get so big? In order to be a warrior fighting in all these scenes and to actually fight with these people and have legitimate fun in the movie, it required six months of pretty heavy training, as if I were fighting, as if I were running on walls, as if I were jumping up and down and grabbing things. I mean, it was really fun stuff."

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time is released in US and UK cinemas on May 28.

Gyllenhaal: 'People think I'm Spiderman'

Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed that people often confuse him for his Brothers co-star Tobey Maguire.

According to Contactmusic, Gyllenhaal joked that taxi drivers often think he played Spiderman.

"People have often said to me that I look like Tobey, so I thought it was perfect casting," he said. "They really just made Brothers so it could be said that I look different from Tobey. In fact, to all those cab drivers in New York, I am not Spiderman!"

Gyllenhaal added that he enjoyed working on the film but was slightly intimidated by the director Jim Sheridan.

He explained: "He walked up to me in the movie and he said, 'Jake, I just want you to know, you're playing my little brother in the movie so I'm going to have to hate you most of the time'. Honestly, he was like, 'I f**king hate you!' But clearly the process worked."

Maguire has previously said that he impersonates Gyllenhaal when he is mistaken for him.

Robert Downey Jr. opts out of 'Cowboys & Aliens' for 'Sherlock Holmes sequel'

Robert Downey Jr. has dropped out of Cowboys & Aliens, the Dreamworks/Universal sci-fi project that would have reunited the actor with his Iron Man director Jon Favreau. The news was first reported by the Los Angeles Times but only speculated on why Downey had left the project, which pits Old West cowboys and indians against a group of aliens with superior technology. Now, a source inside the production tells EW.com that the star has a scheduling conflict with a Sherlock Holmes sequel. That film has not yet been greenlit by Warner Bros., but it is being fast-tracked based on the success of the first film. (Sherlock’s worldwide gross is fast approaching $300 million.) Warner Bros. commissioned a script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney back in September and is now locking down the cast for a June start date, exactly the time when Cowboys & Aliens is set to begin principal photography. Producers behind Cowboys & Aliens are sticking with original plans and are now looking for a new lead to play cowboy Zeke Jackson, the hero of the 2006 graphic novel from Platinum Studios.
