The River' star Leslie Hope: 'There's lots of stories for season two

Leslie Hope has insisted that The River has plenty of potential for a second season.

The ABC horror drama - from Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) - concluded on Tuesday night (March 20) with first season finale 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat'.

"[Our writers] could tell stories for the rest of our lives put together," Hope told TVLine. "They've always got something simmering between all three of them, so I have no doubt that would have plenty of stories to spin."

She added: "The truth is, there are a lot of stories to be told when you put people together in a space like [the Amazon]."

Hope - who plays Tess Cole on the show - also suggested that if The River does return, it will likely be for another eight-episode season.

"[ABC president] Paul Lee is British, so he comes from a world where seasons are shorter," she explained. "It's a big show to maintain, just in terms of the emotional pitch [the actors] have to ratchet up on a daily basis, so that's a good way to go."

The River finale held steady in the ratings at 4m viewers, with the 18-49 demographic rising slightly to 1.4m.
