I like the idea of the teenage spy thing, if it's a bit like the Alex Rider books which I loved
The CIA thing, I don't know, I hope they aren't going to make a covert affairs copy.

Beast' fairytale pilot picked up by ABC

ABC has picked up a pilot for fairytale drama Beast.

The project is described as a "fantastical reimagining" of the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast, TV Line reports.

ABC revealed that the show is set "in a mythical, dangerous world wherein a beautiful and tough Princess discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast".

Beast has been penned by Human Target and Jericho writer Jon Steinberg, who will executive produce the show with Life Unexpected's Gary Fleder and Mary Beth Basile.

Beast's pilot order comes after the success of ABC's freshman drama Once Upon A Time, which has performed well in the ratings since it premiered in October.

Beast should not be confused with The CW's recent pilot pickup Beauty and the Beast, which is a procedural "loosely based" on a 1980s series of the same name.
