Maggie Grace in talks for Cruise thriller

Maggie Grace has entered talks to star opposite Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in Fox's untitled spy thriller, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, which has the working title Wichita, centres on a spy (Cruise) romancing a woman (Diaz) who has had bad luck with men. Lost star Grace will play the sister of Diaz's character.

James Mangold will direct the movie, his first since 2007's 3:10 To Yuma.

Grace recently appeared as Liam Neeson's kidnapped daughter in action film Taken. She also has Malice In Wonderland and The Experiment due for release in the next year

Sandler: 'I'm going to live forever'

Adam Sandler has joked that he will never die.

Speaking to PA, the comedian said that his role in Funny People, in which he is told he has a year to live, did not make him consider his own death.

"I don't think it's possible that I'm going to die," he quipped. "Why would anyone take me away from here?"

The film's director Judd Apatow added: "We have a religion where we live forever in alien society, so we're comfortable knowing about our eternal life."

Megan Fox: 'Fight scenes are sexy'

Megan Fox has revealed that she thinks fight scenes are "sexy".

The actress explained that the combat helps her acting skills, according to The Sun.

"Whenever I can be physical it helps me a lot with the actual acting aspect," she said. "I prefer it.

"If I could just be beating someone up or getting my ass beaten in every scene I would love it. It's so sexy."

Fox's publicist earlier denied speculation that she will play Catwoman in the upcoming Batman film.

Cooper's 'Green Lantern sounded like Batman'

Bradley Cooper has reportedly admitted that he channelled Christian Bale's version of Batman for his Green Lantern audition.

The Hangover star, who was asked to give his take on the superhero for director Martin Campbell in May, said that his performance was like a skit on Saturday Night Live, according to ReelzChannel.

"I couldn't not do Christian Bale's Batman when I was doing the audition. I don't know what it was! I put a mask on and the director was like, 'OK Bradley, be regular and talk'," he told Conan O'Brien's US chatshow.

"And I was like, 'Yeah, got it... [in a deep Batman voice] listen, Sally, we're going to have to take your family away if you don't listen to me!'"

He added: "I saw a little clip as they were rewinding it, and I thought, 'Oh my God, that can't be'. It looked like a Saturday Night Live sketch! I was like, 'Oh, I'm not getting this!' Now I can really do my Batman! Who gives a s**t?"

Actor Ryan Reynolds was cast as the DC Comics superhero, which Cooper thought was a good choice, saying: "He's perfect. He actually looks like a superhero."

The 34-year-old recently confirmed that he will play Lt Templeton 'Faceman' Peck in the upcoming A-Team movie.

Damon 'to receive Cinematheque award'

Matt Damon will reportedly receive the American Cinematheque Award.

The Talented Mr Ripley star will be honoured at next year's ceremony on March 27, according to Variety.

The occasion marks the first time that the 38-year-old will receive an accolade for his body of film work, while the proceedings will be broadcast on cable network AMC.

Previous recipients of the award include Julia Roberts, Al Pacino, George Clooney and Samuel L. Jackson for their contributions to the world of cinema.

Damon previously won an Oscar along with Ben Affleck for their 1997 screenplay Good Will Hunting.

Fox: 'I prefer kissing girls'

Megan Fox has revealed that she prefers doing on-screen kisses with girls.

The actress has a kissing scene with Mamma Mia! star Amanda Seyfried in new horror film Jennifer’s Body.

According to The Mirror, Fox said: "I feel much safer with girls, so I felt more comfortable kissing her in the movie than kissing any of the other people that I had to kiss.

"I think she [Seyfried] was extremely uncomfortable.

"She was not comfortable and there was a lot of laughing, like, giggling fits that happened in between takes."

Jennifer's Body is due for release on November 6.

Streep 'favourite to win 2010 Oscar'

Meryl Streep has reportedly been suggested as the lead contender to win an Academy Award in 2010.

According to the Daily Express, the Oscars executives have allegedly been struggling to form a list of best actress nominees.

Streep, who recently insisted that the Academy Awards should precede all other televised award shows, has been rumoured to be the favourite to pick up her third Oscar next year.

An Oscar insider said: "It's only just dawning that there's a distinct lack of potentials in the best actress category.

"It's been a pretty lacklustre year for movies in general but it seems that no one wrote any decent lead roles for women."

They added: "There are many to choose from when it comes to supporting actresses but very few in the lead.

"It looks like Meryl Streep may do it again as she has played the lead to acclaim in two films out this year."

Other actresses that have been suggested for contention on the 2010 Oscar ballot are Hilary Swank for Amelia, Emily Blunt for The Young Victoria and Penelope Cruz for Broken Embraces.

Jolie, Fox vying for 'Barbarella' role?

Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox are reportedly both up for the part of the title character in a remake of the 1968 sci-fi classic Barbarella.

The iconic role originally saw Jane Fonda play the mercenary of the future hunting the evil Durand-Durand, making her a worldwide sex symbol.

An insider said: "This will be the first time Angie and Megan have ever faced off for the same role.

"Whoever gets the part will become the absolute number one Hollywood sex symbol on the planet."

According to the Daily Star, the original producer Dino De Laurentiis has said that Jolie or Fox would ensure that the remake is a huge hit.

Jessica Alba was recently reported as the favourite for the role.

Jay-Z 'announces future movie plans'

Jay-Z has revealed that he hopes to make an impression on the film industry some day.

The 39-year-old rapper has said that his goal would be to have a hand in various movie projects, but has admited that he's still in search of the perfect role that will leave a lasting imprint on cinema.

Jay-Z told MTV: "I'm taking my time. It may seem like it's taking forever, but when I do, it's gonna be something added to the genre.

"I just don't wanna do a couple movies and be gone. I want it to be something that's really important, so I'm taking my time with it. Hopefully when I arrive in Hollywood, I can leave a footprint."

Spielberg 'to produce Crichton's 'Pirates'

Director Steven Spielberg has reportedly acquired the rights to Michael Crichton's posthumous novel Pirate Latitudes.

Spielberg's studio DreamWorks will produce the film, which will be based on the semi-historical tale of 17th-century piracy, once screenwriter David Koepp develops a script.

DreamWorks CEO Stacey Snider told USA Today: "Anything that Michael wrote, Steven would be keenly interested to read. But without Michael knowing it, or even me knowing it, it turns out Steven always wanted to direct his own pirate film.

"Michael wrote a real page-turner that already seems suited for the big screen. Michael and I have had almost two decades of solid collaborations. Whenever I made a film from a Michael Crichton book or screenplay, I knew I was in good hands. Michael felt the same, and we like to think he still does."

The novel Pirate Latitudes is to be released on November 24 in the US

Sylvester Stallone developing fifth 'Rambo'

Sylvester Stallone will direct and star in a fifth chapter of the Rambo franchise, Variety reports. The film’s plot will involve a kidnapping near the U.S.-Mexico border. Production begins next spring. Stallone revived the character after 20 years for last year’s Rambo.

Rogen: 'Green Hornet won’t be rushed'

Seth Rogen has revealed that he is relieved that the release date for Green Hornet was pushed back by five months.

Columbia Pictures have announced that the superhero film, co-starring Cameron Diaz and Nicolas Cage, will be released on December 17, 2010.

It was previously scheduled to open in cinemas on July 7. However, the Pineapple Express star has said that the delay will benefit the project.

He told Hit Fix: "We're [Rogen and director Michel Gondry] both relieved and psyched about the change. It gives more time for post, which would have been immensely rushed if we were to come out in the summer.

He added: "It also affords us more time to promote the film (now we can go to Comic-Con with more than a car!) and ultimately is a great vote of confidence from the studio. We got the same date that movies like I Am Legend and Avatar are getting, so we're thrilled to be there."

It was recently announced that Taiwanese actor Jay Chou had been cast as the Green Hornet's sidekick Kato.

'Halloween 3' already in development?

A third Halloween remake is currently in development, it has been reported.

The first sequel to the franchise reboot directed by Rob Zombie placed second at the US box office over the weekend.

However, a third instalment in the horror movie series is already in the works, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Dimension Films co-chairman Bob Weinstein said that the latest outing will employ 3-D effects and go under the title Halloween 3D, while he also disclosed that Zombie will be replaced by a new helmer to give the project "a different take".

Halloween 3D is expected to open in summer 2010, though no casting announcements have yet been made.

Bruce Willis 'denies Kevin Smith rift'

Bruce Willis has dismissed rumours of a feud with Hollywood filmmaker Kevin Smith after the director reportedly lashed out at a recent event for their new film A Couple Of Dicks.

Willis was noticeably absent from the forthcoming movie's wrap party in New York, fuelling speculation that the pair have clashed over the action star's demands to add his own creative input to the picture.

According to the National Enquirer, the helmer took advantage of Willis's absence to criticise him in a scathing toast, apparently telling guests: "I want to thank everyone who worked on the film, except for Bruce Willis... who is a f**king d**k!"

However, Willis has maintained that there is no bad blood between the pair. His spokesperson said: "There is absolutely no rift between Bruce Willis and Kevin Smith. Bruce very much enjoyed working with Kevin Smith as well as his co-star Tracey Morgan.

"The only reason Mr. Willis was not at the wrap party for the film is that he was in Los Angeles taking part in a press junket and press activities for his movie Surrogate."

Paramount: 'Thor,' 'Iron Man 2' still coming despite Marvel sale

Paramount Pictures issued a statement today in the wake of Marvel Studios’ sale to Disney, reported earlier. The $4 billion deal won’t affect Paramount’s distribution arrangement for five upcoming films, the studio announced, including the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 and Thor. “Paramount Pictures has enjoyed a productive and fruitful relationship with Marvel Studios from the start of our distribution agreement in 2005,” the statement began. “So much so, we announced a five-picture slate distribution deal last year which includes worldwide distribution rights for upcoming films: Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, and Iron Man 3. This distribution deal will be unaffected by today’s transaction. We look forward to continuing to work with Marvel and, with today’s announcement, to working with Disney to replicate the incredible success of Iron Man on all our future collaborative projects.”

'The Green Hornet' release date moves to December 2010

Various outlets are reporting that the Seth Rogen action movie The Green Hornet has moved its release from July 7, 2010 to Dec. 17, 2010. Rogen told HitFix.com that he’s “relieved and psyched about the [date] change,” since it gives the film, due to start filming this week with director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), needed extra time for post-production and promotion.

Fox confirms 'Fantastic Four' reboot

20th Century Fox has confirmed that it will reboot its Fantastic Four series.

The studio, who backed the two earlier big screen adaptations of the Marvel Comics property, has tapped screenwriter and producer Akiva Goldsman (Angels & Demons) to steer the franchise overhaul, reports Variety.

Heroes co-executive producer and Green Lantern co-writer Michael Green will pen the screenplay.

It is unclear whether original stars Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis will return for Fox's revamp of the Marvel superhero family.

Keanu Reeves commits to 'Henry's Crime'

Keanu Reeves will star in and produce romantic comedy Henry's Crime, according to Variety.

The story centres on a Buffalo toll booth attendant who is wrongly accused of robbing a bank, prompting him to experience an existential crisis.

Malcolm Venville has signed up to direct the movie from a script by Anvil! helmer Sacha Gervasi.

Reeves most recently appeared in The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee and The Day The Earth Stood Still.

De Mornay to lead 'Mother's Day' remake

Rebecca De Mornay will lead the cast of Saw helmer Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day remake.

Based on the 1980 cult favourite, the movie centres on three female friends who encounter two brothers trying to impress their unhinged mother by going on a killing spree.

Risky Business actress De Mornay will play the mother, joining a cast that already includes Jamie King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan and True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll.

Scott Milam wrote the script for the remake, which will be produced by Twisted Pictures, Brett Ratner's Rat Entertainment and LightTower Entertainment.

The movie is being eyed for release next Mother's Day.
