Dancy 'didn't realise Adam was a rom-com'

Hugh Dancy has said that he did not realise his new film Adam followed the template of a romantic comedy until he finished filming.

The actor told The Detroit News that the obstacles caused by his character's Asperger's syndrome were not too dissimilar to those in other films of the genre.

Dancy said: "We've come to think of 'rom-com' as being so comfortingly predictable that we know what's going to happen before it happens, right?

"The conceit is that two people come together and then some big obstacle falls in their way. And there's usually a failure of communication. And there's no greater obstacle to communication than the autistic spectrum."

He added: "But that only occurred to me toward the end of making the movie - it seems incredibly obvious now that it has that shape.

"But I remember it was like a flash, it was like, 'Oh! My God! This is a bit like a romantic comedy!'"

Hudgens admits 'Addams Family' influence

Vanessa Hudgens has admitted that she based her role in new movie Bandslam on Wednesday from The Addams Family.

The 20-year-old revealed that it was a relief to play a part different to Gabriella from High School Musical and that she was inspired by the famous misfit daughter when it came to researching her character.

"Don't get me wrong, Gabriella was a great character to play - but she was a lot like myself, sweet and nice! Going out of my comfort zone to play the opposite of me and create a whole new person was really exciting," she told Sugar magazine.

"I watched The Addams Family a lot and tapped into Wednesday's deadpan character. Plus I had to wear Dr Martens boots throughout the entire film. It was fun creating a whole new me."

Jackson film will have two-week run

A film featuring footage from Michael Jackson's final tour rehearsals will have a limited two-week run worldwide, it has been announced.

The movie, which was first approved by a judge nearly two weeks ago, sees the late singer preparing for his planned concerts at London's O2 arena.

Quinto: 'Khan may be in Trek sequel'

Zachary Quinto has hinted that villainous character Khan may appear in the next Star Trek movie.
