Tatum: 'Terrence Howard is mad'

Channing Tatum has described his Fighting co-star Terrence Howard as "one of the mad ones".

The actor told DS that he learned an "immense amount" from working with Howard, whose character Harvey Boarden leads penniless Shawn MacArthur into the world of bare-knuckle boxing.

"There's a line in American literature, 'the only ones for me are the mad ones', and he's mad and I love it," Tatum said of Howard. "I think he puts it on a bit. He's so smart and I think that's his way of jesting at people."

The 29-year-old recalled Howard explaining to him how to break out of jail using his own urine: "He'll just go on and on about it. I'm like, 'I hope I'm your cellmate if I'm ever in prison'."

Discussing his role, Tatum added that he was able to draw on his own experiences, having moved to New York with little money to support himself.

"I've lived in my car in New York," he revealed. "I couldn't get anyone to call me back to go see an apartment. I lived for about three weeks in a car. I know what it’s like to have nothing."

Fighting is released in UK cinemas tomorrow.

Woman finds 'New Moon' script in bin

A woman has found a copy of the New Moon script in a waste paper bin, reports The AP.

Casey Ray is reported to have stumbled across pages from the highly anticipated sequel to Twilight and the script for a separate movie called Memoirs in a trash container outside a St. Louis hotel.

According to her attorney, Ray briefly considered selling the exclusive pages to a national tabloid before deciding to return them to the movie studios.

"My client didn’t really want to get paid," he explained, adding that she had been more interested in hanging on to the scripts as collector’s items.

Ray has since been invited to the premieres of both movies, with Summit Entertainment - the company behind the Twilight saga - claiming that it will verify the authenticity of the script once the film has been released.

"Summit doesn’t comment on any of the deals it does, [but] we thank Ms Ray for doing the right thing," said a studio representative.

Details of New Moon, based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer, have been kept heavily under wraps to ensure that fans are still surprised by what aspects of the storyline have been included.

Carrey's 'Phillip Morris' finds distributor

Jim Carrey's controversial black comedy I Love You Phillip Morris has secured distribution in the US.

According to Variety, Consolidated Pictures Group has now picked up North American distribution rights to Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's movie, which is based on the book by Steven McVicker.

CPG has handed I Love You Phillip Morris a February 14, 2010 release date. The film is expected to arrive in the UK this summer via E1 Films.

Tatum talks 'G.I. Joe', 'Public Enemies'

Channing Tatum has said that his upcoming action film G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra is a "ridiculously big, huge movie".

The Fighting star told DS: "It's one of those movies where I didn't realise how big it was. I've seen parts from it that are in the trailer now and I'm like, 'this movie is nuts'.

"On the second day of filming, I turned around and Snake Eyes is standing next to me and I'm like, 'Woah, now I'm in this.' It's a huge ride."

Discussing his part in Public Enemies opposite Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, Tatum said: "I play a big role in American history, Pretty Boy Floyd, but it's a small role in the movie. I introduce Purvis, Christian Bale's character, the head honcho of what will eventually be the FBI."

G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and Public Enemies open in cinemas this summer. Fighting is on general release from tomorrow.

Hanks' Sex Scenes Cut

Tom Hanks was forced to omit sex scenes his new movie Angels & Demons - because there just wasn't any time for "smooching" in the action-packed film.

Hanks stars as Harvard professor Robert Langdon who investigates the murder of a physicist and a terrorist act against the Vatican by a secret brotherhood.

But moviemakers had to downplay the blossoming romance between Hanks' character and his female companion, played by Ayelet Zurer. And the actor is disappointed he didn't get to kiss his pretty co-star.

He tells Parade magazine, "We really don't have time to make out or go to bed when Cardinals are being killed on the hour. We tried to work it into the screenplay over and over again. We were like, 'Isn't there a bigger car with a bigger backseat?'

"But we were stuck with an Alfa Romeo so we didn't have an opportunity to grab some smooching on the way to the Pantheon or the Piazza Del Poppolo. It's my loss, but I think it did make it easier for Ayelet."

Orci, Kurtzman discuss 'Star Trek' sequel

The writers behind Star Trek have revealed that they already have ideas in place for the sequel.

Director J.J. Abrams recently suggested that a follow-up would be likely if the current box office smash was a success.

Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman told MTV News that they have started discussing preliminary ideas for the next flick's storyline.

Orci said: "We wanted to see what fans think of the first one; let's see what works, and what people think is the best in what we've done. And then we can take that into account when we think about the next movie. I don't think we ever need to talk about time travel again."

Kurtzman added: "Now we're in this new world. And we're just gonna have to live through the unpredictable future."

Orci admitted that they would begin writing the sequel on the day it was announced that the first film was successful, and that he has started reading past Star Trek novels for inspiration.

He added: "I'm trying to read every Star Trek book I can get my hands on. We did that a lot for the first movie...I'm starting to re-immerse myself again in what's come before."

Star Trek has grossed £70.9m worldwide in its opening weekend.

Bana 'jumped at 'Star Trek' chance

Eric Bana has admitted that he jumped at the chance to play a villain in Star Trek.

The actor, who stars as evil Romulan Nero in the sci-fi reboot, told STV that he was excited at the prospect of playing a bad guy.

He said: "It’s fun, the opportunity to get a role like this."

Bana also noted that the anonymity he was given during the makeup process was an extra incentive for taking part.

"It’s a bonus that we can’t tell who you are. It’s so rare, so I jumped at the chance," he added.

Star Trek opened at number one in 23 markets over the past weekend.

Movie workouts left Jackman exhausted

Hugh Jackman has admitted that training sessions for his part in X-Men Origins: Wolverine left him close to collapse.

The Australian actor was forced to bulk up for the movie's title role - a mutant with retracting bone claws and animal-like instincts.

Speaking to Celebs On Sunday magazine, Jackman explained: "I wanted audiences to think, 'This guy could easily rip someone's head off', so I worked hard to achieve that physique. I ran and had to lift very heavy weights.

"Every morning I'd get up and there was a part of me that just wanted to collapse, but you just have to keep going, it's full-on testosterone."

Asked if his wife Deborra-Lee Furness enjoyed the results, he replied: "She loves it. When we met, I was in a prison drama. I had long hair, a mullet, a lot of muscles and tattoos. I was seriously pumped up."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released to cinemas last month.

Davis: 'Sex And The City 2' very different

Kristin Davis has revealed that the sequel to Sex And The City: The Movie will be "very different" from its predecessor.

The actress, who plays art dealer Charlotte York Goldenblatt, refused to tell reporters any details about the highly anticipated script, but insisted that fans will be happy with the result.

"It’s very exciting and very different than the first one, which is the luxury of getting to do another one," she said.

"We did the first one, and those were our pent-up things that we hadn’t finished in the show, so now we’re just starting fresh in a way, which is really, really exciting. It’s just a new adventure."

She went on to say that she was excited by the prospect of reuniting with co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon, explaining: "It’s like getting to be with your girlfriends for 18 hours a day, which, you know, nobody gets to do in their lives.

"We see each other when we’re not working. Everyone thinks we don’t, I don’t know why, [maybe] because we don’t parade down the street when we’re together."

Recently, Parker also hinted that viewers could expect Sex And The City 2 to mark a significant departure from its more "mature" and "sophisticated" prequel.

Weisz to play '40s movie icon Hedy Lamarr

Rachel Weisz is eyeing the lead role in Face Value, an independent film about 1940s Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Austrian-born Lamarr, whose most famous role is in Cecil B. DeMille's Samson And Delilah, retired from acting in 1957 and went on to have a career as a pioneering scientist. She was involved in creating a method of changing frequencies, which helped pave the way for modern wireless communications.

Amy Redford, daughter of Robert, will direct the movie, which was at one point touted as a vehicle for Charlize Theron. Jose Rivera and Gretchen Somerfeld have penned the script for Face Value.

Weisz recently signed up for political drama The Whistleblower, in which she will play a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia.

Jackman, Weisz, Pattinson for 'Captives'

Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz and Robert Pattinson have joined the cast of Madeleine Stowe's period drama Unbound Captives.

Stowe, who has starred in films such as The Last Of The Mohicans,, Twelve Monkeys and Short Cuts, will make her directorial debut on the drama.

The movie, set in 1859, revolves around a woman (Weisz) whose husband is murdered and her children kidnapped by a Comanche war party. Jackman will play a frontiersman who rescues Weisz and her son (Pattinson).

Stowe wrote the Captives script with her husband Brian Benben in the 1990s. They turned down an offer of $5 million from Fox to make the film with Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe so Stowe could oversee the movie on her own terms.

"There was never a moment's hesitation on my part, but it felt unreal, and I can remember my husband putting a finger across his neck to signal not to take the offer," Stowe told Variety.

"There are moments in life where you need to follow your heart. The script remained my singular focus, but directing it myself wasn't something I ever dreamed of."

Walker, West look at 'Protection'

West's involvement is reportedly contingent on him being able to free up time in his schedule. He has previously steered action blockbusters Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

Producers are attempting to sell Protection to a US studio at the Cannes Film Festival.

Attenborough 'not well enough for films'

Lord Attenborough has been forced to pull out of his upcoming movie after failing to make a sufficient recovery from a fall.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, a representative for the 85-year-old confirmed that he was still "not well enough" after being hospitalised in December following a fall at his Richmond-Upon-Thames home.

"It is immensely frustrating for him but I can't see him taking on any more roles in the foreseeable future," said the spokesperson.

"He has no other projects coming up and no plans to take on any. He's still in the rehabilitation centre as a inpatient but we hope he will be out soon, but we can't say when."

The filmmaker's brother Sir David added that he is unsure whether his sibling will ever return to the big screen, saying: "I have no idea whether he will be able to. He's getting on with his recovery, but he is still in hospital."

He had been scheduled to begin filming horror movie Ironclad this summer, alongside James Purefoy and Robert Carlyle.

Labeouf Amazes Co-stars With Pain Tolerance

Megan Fox is convinced her Transformers co-star Shia Labeouf is the perfect action man for young film fans - because he feels no pain.

The actor amazed Fox and the cast and crew on the Transformers sequel after turning up on set just weeks after he almost lost his hand in a car accident last summer.

Labeouf has since undergone three hand surgeries and has accepted the fact he'll never get the full use of it back - but, apart from the bandaging, Fox insists you would never know he was in so much pain.

She says, "He's still a badass on the XBox. He can still play video games.

"He has the highest tolerance for pain that I've ever seen in a human being. He worked through the movie. I'm not kidding."

Labeouf even impressed members of the military, who were drafted in as extras during a battle scene shoot at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, when he refused to take time off after a blast almost cost him his eyesight.

A soldier who was among the extras witnessed the injury and told WENN last year, "We were all pretty impressed. To get up from a movie explosion, which leaves you injured, and get back in there is cool. He's got broken fingers from his car crash and now his eyelid has been slashed open. He's lucky he still has his sight.

"He was treated at the clinic at the airforce base and then a local ophthalmologist came by to check on his eye. He was in the clinic for about four hours and then he returned to the set once the swelling had gone down."

"Nothing could be further from the truth The funny thing is, I have an Irish curse and I think we're all familiar with exactly how [I'm endowed]."
