Owen Wilson makes action movie return in 'The Coup

Owen Wilson is to star in a new action drama called The Coup, it has been reported.

Rihanna bags villain role in sequel

RIHANNA is used to life in the fast lane so her latest film role is a perfect fit.

The Bajan has bagged a part in the latest instalment of The Fast And The Furious franchise.

She’ll play the villain in the sixth — yes, sixth — chapter of the petrolhead movies.

A source said: “Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she’ll be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn’t take any prisoners — just like her in real life.

“It’s a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles.”

Rihanna will be driving supercars alongside the likes of Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, as the series continues its world tour of exotic locations.

Last time it was Tokyo... this time it’s England, as Bizarre revealed a few months back.

The movie will be set in London so Rihanna will be spending even more time in the UK, with filming expected to start as early as next month.

The singer will also be heading to Essex for the first time as racing scenes will be shot in Southend when London is out of bounds to filmmakers during the Olympics.

She’ll never have a better chance to get her hands on some winkles.

Rihanna had spoken of her desire to go into comedy following sci-fi action flick Battleship and hopes to work with actor/producer Seth Rogan.

She said: “I’ve always wanted to work with Seth. He is so funny. Even if he’s not in the film, all of his movies are funny.

“They’re the comedies I watch a thousand times, besides Borat of course, and everything that Sacha Baron Cohen does.”

It’s a surprise Sacha hasn’t approached Rihanna to star in one of his movies given she’s a big fan.

If he ever decided to make a sequel to Ali G Indahouse she would make a great love rival to his girlfriend Julie.

Vin Diesel hints at two more 'Riddick' sequels

The Riddick series could receive two more sequels in the future, according to lead actor Vin Diesel.

Diesel, who recently wrapped filming on the third cinematic entry in the series, said that Universal Pictures has already made enquiries about fourth and fifth instalments.

I think they are liking what they are seeing… haha, cause they asked when both 'Underverse' and 'Furya' would be ready to make and release… haha… now that's a ways in the future but it is exciting," he wrote on his Facebook page.

The third movie, simply titled Riddick, was intended for release this year, but is more likely to land in 2013, according to Diesel.

"The studio said the earliest they could release the new "Riddick" is in January… was hoping for 2012… but, it's on the horizon," he said.

Nick Frost, Rashida Jones, Chris O'Dowd cast in 'Cuban Fury'

Nick Frost and Rashida Jones will be among the cast of upcoming British comedy Cuban Fury.

Chris O'Dowd and Olivia Colman will also star in the project, which is based on an original story idea by Frost.

The romantic comedy centres around an unlucky man (Frost) who decides to rediscover his passion for salsa dancing due to his fondness of his new American boss (Jones).

Up All Night's James Griffiths will make his directorial debut for the film, while Misfits scribe Jon Brown will write the screenplay.

The film will be produced by Big Talk Productions and co-financed by Studiocanal and Film4.

Big Talk's Nira Park told Variety that the project was a "quick development compared to other projects we've worked on.

''With Cuban Fury there was a great one-line pitch and the idea of Nick dancing was funny. I've always wanted to do a dance movie and this is a great romantic comedy with massive dance sequences and a real UK sensibility rooted in reality."

Nick Frost added that the film will help conquer his "weird fear of dancing" and that he has been salsa training for the past few months.

"This fear spoilt my wedding,'' he said. ''But this film will hopefully show that it's not just about aesthetics and that you don't have to look incredibly beautiful to be a good dancer.''

Frost will also executive produce the film, which should begin filming in the UK in seven weeks' time.

The Shaun of the Dead star will lend his voice to the upcoming Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.
