Duchovny 'keen on X-Files 3 for 2012'

David Duchovny has revealed that he would like to see a third X-Files movie in cinemas by 2012.

The 49-year-old played Fox Mulder in the TV series from 1993 until 2002. He also reprised his role in two X-Files feature-length films; 1998's Fight The Future and 2008 sequel I Want To Believe.

The Californication star told The Daily Beast that he would like to see the plotline for the possible third instalment centre on an "alien-oriented conspiracy".

He said: "As far as the X-Files movie I'd like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy."

He added: "I think it's natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we'll see if we get to do it."

Co-star Gillian Anderson previously hinted that a third film is in the works and that she is on board to play Dana Scully.

Marvel: 'Batman & Robin was important film'

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has called Batman & Robin  "the most important comic book movie ever made".

The 1997 film, which was directed by Joel Schumacher and starred George Clooney as the Caped Crusader, was widely panned by critics and fans. The franchise went on an eight-year hiatus before director Christopher Nolan rebooted the series with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

However, the studio head has insisted that the film should be applauded for being "so bad", the Los Angeles Times reports.

He said: "That may be the most important comic book movie ever made. It was so bad that it demanded a new way of doing things.

"It created the opportunity to do X-Men and Spider-Man adaptations that respected the source material and adaptations that were not campy."

The film's writer Akiva Goldsman admitted that it was flawed, saying: "What got lost in Batman & Robin is the emotions aren't real. The worst thing to do with a serious comic book is to make it a cartoon. I'm still answering for that movie with some people."

Goldsman was recently confirmed to reboot Marvel's Fantastic Four series for 20th Century Fox.

Field discusses 'SATC 2' plotlines

Stylist Patricia Field has discussed plot details about the forthcoming sequel to  Sex And The City.

The costume designer, who worked on the characters' outfits in the HBO TV series and the first film, dropped hints about an '80s flashback sequence in the highly-anticipated update.

She told People: "It was in the beginning of the movie. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) was waiting to meet her girlfriends and she was thinking about when she first moved to New York in the '80s and how she met Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis).

"They're all, in real time, meeting to go shopping. And in her flashback time, she is thinking of when she first met each one of them."

Earlier this year, the United Arab Emirates reportedly banned the project from filming scenes in Dubai, though Field stated that the locale has now been switched to Morocco.

She added: "[We're shooting] there for about six weeks. You'll probably see belly dancers and Bedouins!"

The 68-year-old recently said that the fashion would be "more fun" for the sequel, which opens in cinemas on May 28, 2010.

Kidman: 'Hollywood at fault for violence'

Nicole Kidman has stated that Hollywood movies have helped contribute to violence against women.

The actress made the comments while testifying before a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee that is considering reintroducing legislation to tackle violence against women abroad through humanitarian aid.

"I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," The Hollywood Reporter quotes her as saying.

Kidman, who admitted that she has no desire to take on roles that portray women as weak, was promoting the International Violence Against Women Act for UNIFEM at the committee.

"In the real world, the laws go unenforced and impunity is the norm," she said, adding that the UN women's fund is stretched for resources.

Willis cast in 'Kane & Lynch' film

Bruce Willis has landed a role in the upcoming movie adaptation of video game Kane & Lynch, producer Adrian Askarieh has announced.

The project is now ready to enter production after being hit by numerous delays. Filming will commence early next year, with relatively unknown director Simon Crane at the helm.

"The script has been incredibly well-received around town," said Askarieh. "After Bruce Willis read it, he called it one of the best action scripts he's ever read, and Bruce is an expert in terms of action scripts because he's read everything over the last 20 years."

Askarieh explained that the film will follow the plot of the Eidos Interactive game, but there will be some surprises thrown in.

"It's not going to have every sequence from the game, but it's essentially the story of a mercenary teaming up with a schizophrenic psychopath to save his wife and daughter," he said.

Willis will play Kane in the film, with the casting of Lynch said to imminent. Filming is scheduled to begin in March next year.

Theron, Hardy for 'Mad Max 4'?

Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy are reportedly being eyed for roles in George Miller's Mad Max 4.

According to E! Online, Australian filmmaker Miller is looking to cast Theron in the lead female role and Brit actor Hardy (Bronson) to replace Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky.

However, financiers have yet to sign off on Miller's casting choices, with actors allegedly being auditioned for parts without being told the name of their character.

The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner revealed in August that he had screen-tested for the movie.

Released in 1979, Mad Max centred on a cop who takes the law into his own hands after a biker gang kills his family. It spawned sequels in 1981 and 1985 with Gibson in the title role.

Nighy: 'Pirates 4 announcement unreliable'

Bill Nighy has claimed that the announcement about the proposed fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean instalment is "not reliable".

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously stated that the project is a "priority" for Disney. Star Johnny Depp's participation may be in question though after studio chairman Dick Cook was relieved of his position. The actor admitted that he only agreed to appear in the sequel because of his friendship with Cook.

Now Nighy, who plays squid-faced Davy Jones in the franchise, has hinted that the pronouncement of the update might have been premature.

He told Sci-Fi Wire: "I understand that there was an announcement that there was going to be a fourth, and now I've been told since that that was not a reliable announcement."

However, the star added that should the fourth movie transpire, he would be keen to reprise his role.

He added: "I would love to be in it, because I had a wonderful time with those. They were great people, and those films are beloved, so it would be great to be in a fourth one."

A Disney representative recently confirmed that Depp will not be replaced in the tentatively titled Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, scheduled for release in 2011.

Cruise 'was Bale's inspiration for Psycho'

The director of American Psycho has claimed that star Christian Bale based his performance on Tom Cruise.

Mary Harron helmed the 2000 adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel, which was set during the 1980s and featured a yuppie killer named Patrick Bateman.

She told Black Book magazine that the Dark Knight actor struggled in "trying to work out the right way to behave".

"We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet [and] watching what people did," she said.

"And then one day [Christian] called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy."

Earlier this year, Bale publicly apologised for an on-set rant that occurred during filming of Terminator: Salvation.

Haley 'defends new Freddy make-up'

Jackie Earle Haley has defended the look of his version of Freddy Krueger in the A Nightmare On Elm Street update.

A teaser trailer was unveiled earlier this month in which the character's make-up and voice were not entirely finished. Producer Brad Fuller recently revealed that the final appearance of the horror bogeyman was continuously being refined as filming continues.

The Watchmen actor, who signed up to portray the dream killer in the remake of the 1984 Wes Craven picture in April, called the redesign "awesome".

Haley told Sci-Fi Wire: "It's so cool. Andrew Clement (the make-up artist) did an awesome job redesigning the make-up.

"You know, you can imagine since they're making it, going back in time and starting over. Robert Englund did such an amazing job of owning Freddy Krueger, you know, we need to pay homage to that but at the same time be a little bit fresh and new, while still being familiar."

Of his transformation into Freddy, he added: "We got it down to three hours and 20 minutes, I think. And then an hour to get out. And that's before I even step foot on set. I've got a four and a half hour day of make-up."

A Nightmare On Elm Street opens in cinemas on April 16, 2010.

Stallone: 'My movies embarrass the kids'

Sylvester Stallone has revealed that his children get embarrassed watching him on screen.

The Rocky actor, who has three daughters with ex-model Jennifer Flavin, said that his wife has told him to stop making films because of the kids.

Stallone told Tele5 Germany: "I know I'll probably make a fool of myself if I make another Rocky film after turning 60. Even my wife says, 'Don't do it. You're embarrassing the kids'. But I told her, 'If I don't try I'll be a really unhappy man'."

The action film star added: "You have to do it. Artists like me have to go through the dark over and over again."

Stallone also said that his old drama teacher warned him about the cutthroat film industry, saying: "My teacher said to me, 'If you ever put your head out there, thousands of people will try to cut it off, but that's exactly what you need to do as an artist.'"

50 Cent 'did Dead Man Running for free'

Rio Ferdinand has said that he cannot take the credit for 50 Cent reportedly appearing in new movie Dead Man Running for free.

The footballer, who produced the film with England teammate Ashley Cole, told BBC Newsbeat that he respected 50 Cent for taking a risk with the project.

Ferdinand said: "He's a businessman and he understands if he cracks it in a country other than his own - it's a big market Europe - then he knows he's on to a good thing. It's taken him out of his comfort zone, doing stuff in his own country with people that he knows.

"I think you've got to sometimes take your hat off to someone who can let themself go out somewhere in a vulnerable kind of way and still do as well as he did. He came over for three or four days, did all his scenes in and out quick, very professional - testament to him."

When asked if he was worried about returning the favour to the gangsta rapper, Ferdinand added: "No, as long as it's all above board I'm in. He's done us a great favour, he's done stuff for my online magazine Number 5 as well.

"So there's a work in progress there and if ever needs me for anything, which I'm not sure he does yet, I'm there."

Driver: 'I won't film pregnant again'

Minnie Driver has said that she will never film another movie role while heavily pregnant.

The actress stars as parent-to-be Sheila in Motherhood alongside Uma Thurman and Anthony Edwards.

Driver told Parade: "They needed an actress to play pregnant, but I offered them the real thing. I was so pregnant in this film that I was in a kind of different world.

"You shouldn't really be on a film set when you're that pregnant, you need to be at home with your feet up. I wouldn't do it again."

She added: "They took care of me. They were lovely and very sweet, but you should be getting ready for your baby to come and taking it easy, you shouldn't be out making movies. Now, I'm back to work and taking [my son] with me on film sets.

"It was incredibly challenging. The first one I did, Betty Anne Waters with Hilary Swank, when Henry was five months old, was really hard. We were in Michigan in the middle of winter and it was ten below. I was like, 'What am I doing?'."

The star also said that she is planning to record another album now that her son has stopped breastfeeding.

50 Cent 'auditioned for A-Team reboot'

50 Cent has admitted that he auditioned for the part of B.A. Baracus in the movie remake of The A-Team.

The rapper was apparently a favourite to take on the role made famous by Mr T, but was forced to pull out due to scheduling conflicts with his forthcoming album.

50 Cent told Total Film: "I went for the B.A. Baracus role in The A-Team a few weeks ago but they'd already started shooting, so it would have kinda jammed things up at my end, because I've got my new album coming out."

The character will now be played by Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson. Others cast in the movie include Bradley Cooper - who portrays Faceman - and Liam Neeson as Hannibal Smith.

Bell "sore" from 'Burlesque' rehearsals

Kristen Bell has revealed that she is "sore" from dance rehearsals for her role in Burlesque.

The Couples Retreat actress was recently cast as Christina Aguilera's cabaret club rival in the forthcoming movie also starring Cher.

She told E!: "I've started dance rehearsals and my neck is sore and my inner thighs are so sore."

The 29-year-old also stated that her costumes are influenced by Madonna's infamous cone-shaped bra, which the singer sported in the video for 'Vogue'.

Bell said: "My character is fun and sexy but not a stripper. There is no nudity, and there are no pasties and G-strings."

The former Veronica Mars star added that she is not looking forward to a particular singing scene with Aguilera.

"There's a competition between the two of us," she explained. "I really want to sing and she's allowed to sing at the club so we fight... In the end when all is well, they may sing together. I almost wish they wouldn't, because I would rather just listen to Christina."

Earlier this month, Julianne Hough joined the cast of the Steve Antin-directed project, which will debut in cinemas in November 2010.

Wright Penn 'keen to move on after divorce'

Robin Wright Penn has insisted that she thinks her film career will benefit once her divorce from Sean Penn is finalised.

The actress, who filed for divorce from the Oscar-winning actor citing "irreconcilable differences", has said that she is looking forward to moving on with her life and career.

Wright Penn told Redbook magazine: "I turned down so many films because I wanted to be a mom that they stopped offering. I gave up a lot for my kids, but I didn't give up... I'm very content with the way it all turned out.

"I have no regrets for my life that has been lived. New beginnings, definitely. For me, my career too. My kids are older now."

As for her public marriage split, the 43-year-old said: "It never feels good. Yes, it's divorce - it's a given that it will be public. But... it's so disrespectful. It's like, 'You're an actress, you owe us this?' 'F**k you' is what I say."

Wright Penn's new film The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee arrives in US cinemas in limited release on November 27.
