Whitaker wants to star alongside 50 Cent

Forest Whitaker has revealed that he wants an on-screen "father-son relationship" with 50 Cent.

The Last King Of Scotland actor, who is in talks to star alongside 50 Cent in The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, said that he wants to do the film because he will get the opportunity to play out a father-son relationship with the rapper.

Whitaker told MTV News: "We're still figuring out what we're going to do, if I am going to be doing that or not. If I end up doing it, I would be playing Jekyll and he would be playing Hyde.

He continued: "It's a father-son kind of relationship. It's also an interesting script because we are dealing with similar things. Jekyll has a lot of issues and problems personally. Hidden passions, hidden perversions - and it is acted out by 50."

The storyline, based on the book by Robert Louis Stevenson, tells the story of a doctor who drinks a chemical potion and produces a younger and crueller side.

Kristen Bell joins 'Burlesque' cast

Kristen Bell has reportedly been added to the cast of musical drama Burlesque.

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star will play a rival of Christina Aguilera's character at the cabaret club, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cher and Stanley Tucci are also on board to star in the film, playing the club owner and the coach who turns Aguilera's dancer into the main attraction, respectively.

Steve Antin will direct the film for a November 2010 release.

Bell can currently be seen in Universal comedy Couples Retreat.

'Privileged' star 'auditioned for Twilight'

Privileged star Lucy Hale has revealed that she once auditioned for the Twilight franchise.

The actress, who played Rose Baker in the CW drama, told Popeater that she read for the character of vampire Alice Cullen.

"I auditioned for Twilight, for Ashley Greene's part," she explained.

"I didn't even have any idea what Twilight was then."

She also admitted that she is "obsessed" with HBO vampire series True Blood, adding: "It's so good. I'm so sad that we have to wait such a long time for the third season."

Hale can next be seen in the Lifetime original movie Sorority Wars, which premieres on October 17.

Reitman 'on board' for new 'Ghostbusters'

Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 director Ivan Reitman has agreed to work on the third movie in the franchise, reports suggest.

According to horror fansite Bloody Disgusting, Reitman has not yet decided whether he will direct the project but has indicated that he will be on board to produce.

It is thought that the forthcoming sequel will see the team of paranormal experts resurrecting their ghost-capturing business after it has been closed for years.

Meanwhile, there are also rumours that the film's writing duo Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg have now turned in a script.

The original Ghostbusters movie was released in 1984, while the second followed five years later. News of the latest instalment first emerged in July 2008.

Abrams 'wants Graves for MI:4'

J.J. Abrams has revealed that he would like Peter Graves to star in the next Mission: Impossible instalment.

The Star Trek filmmaker, who directed the third movie in the franchise, recently confirmed that he will produce the sequel along with series star Tom Cruise.

Abrams told Sci-Fi Wire that he received a phone call from Graves's representative who said that the actor is interested in taking part in the follow-up. The 83-year-old portrayed Jim Phelps, the head of an elite group of agents, on the original series from 1967 to 1973 and reprised the role for a short-lived late '80s TV show.

"I just got a call that Peter Graves is in great shape, which would be a very bizarre bend in the space-time continuum, for obvious reasons," Abrams said.

The Lost creator also stated that he is open to feature original Mission: Impossible actors in the cinematic version. Trek's resident Vulcan Leonard Nimoy played Paris for 49 episodes on the TV programme, before starring in Abrams's recent blockbuster reboot.

He added: "Whether it's Nimoy, who I have an incredible affinity for, or Graves, or anyone, we'll see."

Zac Efron blasts his early films

Zac Efron has admitted that he doesn't like most of his films.

The 21-year-old actor has insisted that his earlier movies do not measure up with upcoming film Me And Orson Welles.

Efron told Nylon Guys magazine: "It's the first time I've ever watched a movie I'm in and at the end I'm like, 'OK! I didn't check my watch once'."

The High School Musical star has also revealed that he pestered his parents growing up by singing all the time.

He said: "I was constantly singing. I would hear things on the radio and just be about to spit them out instantly, with perfect memorisation and tone. My parents were like, 'Shut up. Please stop singing. It's annoying'."

Jamie Foxx talks 'Tyson' biopic

Jamie Foxx has confirmed that he is working on a biopic of Mike Tyson.

The Oscar-winning actor has revealed that he is reteaming with Ray director Taylor Hackford for a film about the controversial boxer.

Foxx told MTV: "Mike Tyson, heavyweight boxing champion of the world. Taylor Hackford, who also directed the Ray Charles biopic, I think is my man. We have a certain kinship, and we've talked about when we do get back together what it would be like. I think, for something like this, it would be great because everybody remembers that era. And it's been a long enough time that people need a refreshening."

The Soloist star has also said that he has already discussed the project with Tyson, who has previously insisted that he would be keen on having Foxx portray him in a movie.

Foxx said: "I've reached out to Mike, and I've been open about it. I think that, of all the biopics that are out there, he has the most interesting story that no one has ever heard. I've been privy to some of the private things that I just think are so amazing.

"Here's this guy that could do no wrong, and everything he did, we loved it. And then, when he wasn't the heavyweight champion, anything he did was considered foul and just horrible."

Vaughn: 'Comedies are much more difficult'

Vince Vaughn has insisted that acting in comedies is more difficult than in dramas.

The Couples Retreat star, who recently said that he was "psyched" about getting married to his fiancée Kyla Webber, has said that comedies are more of a challenge because the actor has the responsibility to make the audience laugh while appearing "effortless", reports STV.

Vaughn said: "The job of an actor is to look like you're not acting. Sometimes I think people reward people who go to extreme emotions. I can look at it, and other actors can look at it, and go, 'I can see the work in it'. But people go, 'That must be powerful because you're crying'. But, that would make everyone's crazy aunt a great actor.

"So I've always felt the real thing to do is make it effortless. Like any performer in music, on stage they look effortless, but there's a lot of work that goes into looking effortless. The same thing for the dialogue with comedies. Comedies are much more difficult, especially when they're story comedies, than drama."

Couples Retreat is currently in US cinemas and is released in the UK on October 14.

Bay to replace Fox in 'Transformers 3'?

Michael Bay has reportedly suggested that Megan Fox's role on Transformers 3 will be limited.

According to Perez Hilton, a source has revealed that the director, who recently took another swipe at the 23-year-old beauty for comparing him to Hitler, is considering scaling down Fox's on-screen time to the first 15 minutes of the movie before being killed off in a "gory death scene" and then replaced by another actress for the remainder of the action film.

The insider said: "Michael’s pretty much discovered Megan and now he’s very quietly looking for her replacement. He hasn’t decided if he’s going to kill her off in the next movie, but he just wants to be prepared."

Transformers 3 has been confirmed for a summer 2011 release.

Singer 'wants to return to 'X-Men'

Bryan Singer has admitted that he would like to make more X-Men films.

The AP reports that the director, who worked on the first two movies in the series, has been speaking to executives about the possibility of his return.

"I'm still looking to possibly return to the X-Men franchise," he said. "I've been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast."

Singer added that he likes working on science fiction films because they teach the audience about mankind.

"[I like to] trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say," he explained. "The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is... the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition."

Singer was recently confirmed as the director of upcoming film Jack The Giant Killer.

Fox kills 'Transformers 3' death rumour

Megan Fox has reportedly dismissed rumours that her character in the upcoming Transformers 3 will make a dramatic exit.

According to Teen Hollywood, the 23-year-old actress, who recently had a public disagreement with director Michael Bay, has insisted that writers for the film are not planning a death scene in the third instalment of the robot franchise.

Movie executives have confirmed the return of both Shia LaBeouf and Fox for the follow-up to this year's Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

A representative for Fox has denied speculation that her character would be met with a death scene or be replaced, stating that the rumours are "not true".

Transformers 3 has been confirmed for a summer 2011 release.

Cole: 'Acting is like walking a tightrope'

Lily Cole has revealed that she sees acting as being like walking a tightrope.

The model-turned-actress, who stars in new movie The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, said that the secret to a believable performance is finding the right balance.

Cole told The Daily Telegraph: "The good actor is the one who always has a moment when they nearly fall off."

She also commented her late co-star Heath Ledger, saying: "Heath was totally without fear as an actor. When you see him as the Joker in The Dark Knight, or any of the characters he has done, he really lives and breathes the character - he was always totally committed."

The 21-year-old added: "There is no doubt that Heath was a massive support to me. I had done so little and had almost no experience, and yet Heath was really generous. He was aware that I was nervous, this being the biggest role I've ever done, and he was making a real effort to encourage me."

Stone 'nearly killed herself making Casino'

Sharon Stone has revealed that she nearly starved herself to death while making mobster film Casino.

The actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the movie, said that she didn't eat for a week before filming a crucial scene because she was so desperate to impress director Martin Scorsese by looking "skinny and out of it".

Stone told Prestige magazine: "We did the death scene on the last day because Scorsese knew I wanted to get just so completely skinny and out of it."

She continued: "In the final week I didn't eat, I didn't do anything, I just made myself a complete wreck so that I could get skinny, skinny, skinny, skinny and down to nothing. I lost so much weight."

The 51-year-old star also said that she believes she is getting sexier with age, saying: "You should just be confident and comfortable and at ease and okay to be sexy in middle age as a woman. It's fun. And not a big deal. We should be able to appreciate that sensuality and sexuality go along with this motto of wisdom and intelligence and dignity and elegance as a goal."

Walliams cast as 'Schmucks' banker

David Walliams has joined the cast of Steve Carell comedy Dinner For Schmucks, reports Variety.

The Little Britain comic will play a Swiss banker who is considering making an investment in the company run by Paul Rudd and Bruce Greenwood's characters.

Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Lucy Punch and Stephanie Szostak are also on board to star for director Jay Roach.

Schmucks is expected to begin production this month for an August 2010 release.

Jolie eyes Theron's 'Tourist' role

Angelina Jolie is in talks to replace Charlize Theron in spy thriller The Tourist, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie, once a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise, follows a female Interpol operative who manipulates an American tourist to expose a criminal. Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation) is attached to play the male lead.

The project is based on the 2005 French movie Anthony Zimmer and a remake script by Julian Fellows, Bill Wheeler and Chris McQuarrie.

Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day director Bharat Nalluri dropped out of helming the film last week. Spyglass Entertainment is now looking for a new director to team with Jolie.

Garner: 'I'd hate to be directed by Affleck'

Jennifer Garner has revealed that she would hate to be directed by husband Ben Affleck on a film.

The Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past star, who has daughters Violet and Seraphina with Affleck, said that he takes too long over his directing work.

Garner told the Houston Chronicle: "I don't want to [work on a film with him] because he is not the world's fastest director, and I like to get in and do my work and go home and put the kids to bed."

She continued: "I'm afraid there would be this moment where I would say, 'Okay. You've got it. I promise you it is in the can. I've got to go home'. But you know, life is long and I never say never. I think Ben is brilliant at what he does. I am so happy for him and proud of him."

'Hills' star plays down Conrad movie role

The Hills star Lo Bosworth has laughed off reports that she will star in the movie adaptation of her best friend Lauren Conrad's debut novel.

Conrad had reportedly fuelled the speculation after she told reporters that Bosworth had taken acting lessons and was her first choice for the lead role in LA Candy.

Speaking to E! News, Bosworth said: "It was more of a joke than anything.

"We were on the red carpet together and they were like, 'Who do you want to be in the movie?'"

She added: "I would love to make a cameo, but I don't think I could handle a big role because I'm not an actress. A cameo would be really fun."

Beyoncé 'Wonder Woman' casting 'a hoax'

A report that Beyoncé was in talks to play Wonder Woman has proved to be false.

The Obsessed actress was alleged to have said during a press conference that she had multiple movie projects currently in the works, including Wonder Woman.

The 28-year-old was quoted as saying that she was to meet with the writers of GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Max Payne director John Moore in forthcoming months to discuss her participation in the comic book adaptation to film in mid-2010.

According to ComicBookMovie, the information came from a contributor who had reportedly posted the made-up story in order to impress his girlfriend. He has since been banned from the site, which has posted an apology regarding the matter.

'Fantastic Mr Fox' crew blast Anderson

Fantastic Mr Fox crew members have criticised Wes Anderson for not being present during the making of the stop-motion animated film.

A report in the Los Angeles Times has revealed that the Royal Tenenbaums helmer chose not to be on the London set during shooting and gave instructions to his production staff via email from his Paris home.

"It's not in the least bit normal," said director of photography Tristan Oliver. "I've never worked on a picture where the director has been anywhere other than the studio floor! Honestly? Yeah. He has made our lives miserable."

He continued: "I think he's a little sociopathic, I think he's a little OCD. Contact with people disturbs him. This way, he can spend an entire day locked inside an empty room with a computer. He's a bit like the Wizard of Oz. Behind the curtain."

Explaining his absence, Anderson said: "[I] didn't want to be at Three Mills Studios for two years. I thought I'd make the script and cast it and record the actors. I'd work with some people to design it, get it to look a certain way. But at a certain point, I'd hand it over to the people that animate it. And they'd give it back to me and I'd work on the music and kind of spruce it up."

Anderson admitted that there was friction between himself and the crew, who found it difficult to meet his demands.

"The simple reality is, the movie would not be the way I wanted it if I just did it the way people were accustomed to doing it," Anderson said. "I realised this is an opportunity to do something nobody's ever seen before. I want to see it. I don't want afterward to say, 'I could have gone further with this'."

Fantastic Mr Fox, featuring the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Bill Murray, opens the BFI London Film Festival this Wednesday before debuting in UK cinemas on October 23 and November 25 in the US.

Orci, Kurtzman 'not writing Transformers 3'

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have revealed that they will not be writing the screenplay for Transformers 3.

Director Michael Bay recently confirmed that the third instalment in the blockbuster franchise will be released on July 1, 2011.

The pair, who penned the first two chapters in the Autobots and Decepticons saga with Ehren Kruger, admitted that they did not have an "insight" for the follow-up, Sci-Fi Squad reports.

"We've been working on Transformers longer than I was in college. I feel like we have our degree in Transformers now," Orci said.

"The studio was nice to say, 'Oh, yeah, if you guys want to come back then come back'. But, we never want to do that, unless we have an idea. We always think the best idea should win, and that means opening it up to everybody."

Kurtzman added: "The franchise is so wonderful that it deserves to be fresh, all the time. We just felt like we'd given it a lot and didn't have an insight for where to go with it next and said, 'You should do it right'."

The two are currently at work on a sequel to Star Trek, a film adaptation of the View-Master toy and an update of Hawaii Five-O for CBS.
