Fuller: 'Freddy look not finished'

A Nightmare On Elm Street producer Brad Fuller has admitted that Freddy Krueger's final look is not yet finished.

Watchmen star Jackie Earle Haley will portray the dream killer in the remake of the 1984 Wes Craven horror film.

A new teaser trailer for the reboot was unveiled earlier this week, in which the character's make-up and voice are not entirely complete, according to Fuller's blog on studio Platinum Dunes' website.

He wrote: "We are continuing to refine Freddy's look. Many people commented about the CGI on his face - and I don't want to give everything away but I will say this - Freddy's face is 98% practical make-up.

"Moreover, as you now know we went hardcore on what a burn victim really looks like, and I can't imagine what the comments would have been if he didn't look like a real burn victim."

Fuller added: "Jackie spent so much time on the voice, researching what people who have their vocal cords burned sound like. He is still working on it and I suspect that we will be refining it, until the last moment."

McTeigue denies 'Magneto' movie role

James McTeigue has said that claims that he might co-direct X-Men Origins: Magneto are just rumours.

However, the filmmaker, who has been touted to helm the next Superman movie, hinted that he would be interested in taking on the project, to which Batman Begins writer David Goyer is currently attached.

IMDB currently lists McTeigue and Goyer as directors on the mutant superhero project, set to reunite Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart from the original trilogy.

McTeigue told FirstShowing.net: "I think David Goyer would probably be surprised about that, actually.

"I think that's just one of those rumours that kind of starts... Until he drops out!"

X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood has also expressed his interest in helming the spinoff film.

McTeigue’s latest film Ninja Assassin is released in November.

Reynolds: 'Lantern' will film in four months'

Ryan Reynolds has revealed that Green Lantern is to film at the beginning of next year.

The 32-year-old was cast as the superhero alter-ego of Hal Jordan in July. Production on the project is reportedly to move from Australia to the US, after the value of the Australian dollar climbed more than 16% in the past four months.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor told chatshow host Jimmy Fallon that the movie will begin shooting in the upcoming months. He also admitted that he has been instructed not to divulge information about the film, MTV News reports.

"I'm four to five months away from beginning shooting," he said on the broadcast. "It's crazy, it's the only job I've ever had that I'm not allowed to really talk about.

"I think there's like a representative from Warner Brothers who I'm sure is following me around ready to blow-dart me if I say a single word. I probably have a chip in me somewhere, like if I start talking about it, I'll just pass away."

He added: "A lot of [the film] is sort of like a space epic and some of it is on planet Earth. [Green Lantern] has this ring and he's been chosen to have this power and the ring can kind of create anything that his will or his imagination can conjure up."

It was reported earlier that Reynolds would also reprise his Deadpool character from Wolverine in a spinoff film.

Goyer confirmed for 'Ghost Rider' sequel

David S. Goyer has confirmed that he is to be involved with writing the script for the Ghost Rider sequel.

It was previously speculated that the Dark Knight scribe was said to be in discussions to supervise other writers on the Marvel Comics venture, which would be based upon a work that he had penned years ago.

He told Collider: "I wrote a script for that nine years ago. Sony and producers decided that they wanted to make that into the sequel.

"In this case, I'm coming on as a producer and we're basically doing a polish of my nine-year-old script. So there's not as much work involved."

The 43-year-old admitted that the existing script will have to be toned down, as it was originally envisioned as an R-rated project.

He added: "It was definitely written as a hard R. Originally I was writing it, Stephen Norrington [Blade] was going to direct it, and I was going to produce it. It was a Blade-type film and now they want it to be PG-13.

"There's no question that we're going to have to tone things down, but we're not going to have to do that much."

Ghost Rider star Nicolas Cage, who is believed to reprise his role in the follow-up, had earlier said that he would like Ghost Rider 2 to be a reboot rather than a sequel to the original movie.

Grint, Pattinson for Prince Harry role?

Rupert Grint and Robert Pattinson are reportedly being considered for the role of Prince Harry in a new film.

The Daily Star claims that director Peter Kosminsky is about to begin casting for The Spare.

The biopic will depict Prince Harry's reaction to his mother Princess Diana's death and his experience of serving in the army in Afghanistan.

Rupert Friend is reportedly also being considered for the lead role.

Kosminsky said: "I feel a sense of compassion for the guy [Prince Harry]. His parents break up in the most spectacularly public way, his mother dies in the most tragic and, again, public way, and everything is picked over.

"He's a man born to no role. His brother's the heir and Harry's the spare."

He added that he might cast an American actor, explaining: "My personal approach as a director is that I read the script and people start to pop into my head."

George Clooney 'good at playing idiots'

Joel and Ethan Coen have claimed that George Clooney is great at playing "idiots".

Speaking to MTV News, the filmmakers said that they hope Clooney will continue to play unintelligent characters in their films.

"Right after he wrapped on Burn After Reading, and he was on his way home, he said to us, 'That's it boys, I've played my last idiot!'" Ethan explained.

"Some people have the chops to play great idiots," Joel added. "George is one of those people."

Seyfried: 'Kissing Megan Fox was weird'

Amanda Seyfried has described kissing co-star Megan Fox as "weird".

Seyfried, who kissed Fox for a scene in Jennifer's Body, told InStyle that she did not enjoy the experience.

"It was my first time doing a real kissing scene with a woman," she said. "It is just weird. It is a woman. With a woman's smell - soft and floraly - and maybe the pheromones are different.

"Something about it felt uncomfortable for me."

Seyfried added that she also has a love scene with Julianne Moore in the forthcoming film Chloe.

She said: "When you are done with the scene, you just think, 'Oh God, I can do anything. I just had sex with a woman!'"

Ellen Page dismisses "dark" film reputation

Ellen Page has said that she was bewildered to learn that she had a reputation for only being interested in films with dark elements.

The Whip It star reportedly almost missed the opportunity to act in Drew Barrymore's directorial debut because film producers didn't think the material was "dark" enough for the 22-year-old actress to accept, reports STV.

Page told MTV: "I was at Sundance with a movie of a much, much darker tone called An American Crime, and one of the producers came up to me and was like, 'Oh, I have this project that I want to talk to you about, but I hear you only like dark things'. And I was like, 'What? I don't know who told you that, but please, I am thirsty for whatever'.

"I was like, 'Please send this script to me right away', and I read it and loved it and met Drew and that was that."

While Page plays a rebel in the roller-derby movie, she has insisted that she doesn't relate to the role in that sense.

She added: "I don't know if I would characterise myself as that. I always kind of did my thing and was always very much myself and didn't necessarily become attached to the idea of being any sort of rebel, because I think that can become an attachment in itself."

Whip It is currently in US cinemas. No UK release date has yet been announced.

Kunis: 'I ripped a piece of my neck off'

Mila Kunis has revealed that she has a permanent scar on her neck.

The 26-year-old actress has said that she "ripped a piece of her neck off" while shooting a scene from her 2008 film Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Kunis told Fox News: "I've had so many injuries! I actually ripped out a little piece of my neck off in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It happened when we were in the water.

"Jason Segal is holding my neck. He's holding it because I'm bleeding - you only see half my neck. The other side is gushing."

Kunis is reportedly starring opposite Natalie Portman in Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan.

Barrymore: 'Directing was natural progression'

Drew Barrymore has revealed that directing was a craft that she always wanted to pursue.

The 34-year-old Whip It helmer has said that directing was a "natural progression" from being a former child star to an accomplished adult actress.

Barrymore told Reuters: "For me, it was just a natural progression of taking everything I learned and putting it into something different.

"It's like being a bank and collecting all that money and never doing anything with it... I can't imagine going into museums and or art galleries or being a painter or writer or musician - really caring about every detail and not doing anything with all that knowledge you've gained."

Barrymore, who recently admitted that she was "terrified" to screen her first film for director Steven Spielberg, has also said that she enjoys asking filmmakers for advice but strongly believes that following her own vision is most important.

She added: "Oh yeah, I love collaborating with filmmakers and asking opinions, but I also think at the end of the day, you have to trust your own instincts. Talking to others or asking for advice helps you get a clearer sense of your own voice and your own vision of what you want on screen."

Barrymore: 'I didn't want to make a chick flick'

Drew Barrymore has admitted that she struggled to get her new film Whip It made.

The Hollywood actress has said that it wasn't easy making a film that would be relatable to both girls and boys.

Barrymore told Reuters: "Yeah, I didn't want it to be just another chick flick. I wanted it to stay true to girl empowerment. I wanted to make something that was also irreverent and relevant for boys.

"I wanted it to be emotional and yet romantic and also have action and have girls doing things you'd normally see boys do. That wasn't easy."

Whip It, starring Ellen Page, is currently in US cinemas. No UK release date has yet been announced.

Liam Neeson joins 'Next Three Days'

Liam Neeson has signed up to star opposite Russell Crowe in thriller The Next Three Days, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Irish actor, who is currently filming The A-Team, will play a man who helps Crowe's professor free his wife (Elizabeth Banks) from prison after she is jailed for a crime she didn't commit.

House's Olivia Wilde and Jonathan Tucker will also appear in the film for Crash writer-director Paul Haggis.

The Next Three Days, a remake of the recent French film Anything For Her, is currently shooting in Pittsburgh.

Kristen Stewart to play 'American Girl'

James Woods has revealed that Kristen Stewart will star in his upcoming project The American Girl.

Woods wants to direct and produce the movie, which he has described as a "slam-dunk Oscar" opportunity for the Twilight star.

"It's Coming Home, Best Years of our Lives, it's part of that trilogy. It's a phenomenal story," he told Coming Soon.

The plot centres on smalltown girl who goes off the rails and ends up involved in a drunken sex tape incident which ruins her reputation. She joins the marines and learns Arabic so that she can help the military when dealing with Muslim women. However, a tragedy occurs while she is on duty and she is forced to return to her old home to rebuild her life.

Tim Metcalfe and Sean McCarthy penned the script. Stewart has reportedly read it and urgently wants to begin work on the project, while Woods is said to be refusing to make the film without the 19-year-old.

Skarsgard to star in Branagh's 'Thor'

Stellan Skarsgard has been cast in Kenneth Branagh's Marvel Comics adaptation Thor, according to Swedish news site Ystads Allehanda.

It has not been revealed what role Skarsgard will take in the project, which is based on the Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby comic series.

Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY), Colm Feore, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman have already been confirmed for the project.

Hemsworth will play the title role, while Portman is the love interest, nurse Jane Foster. Hiddleston is cast as villain Loki.

Thor is scheduled for release in May 2011.

Barrymore 'glad not to direct Eclipse'

Drew Barrymore has revealed that she does not regret missing out on directing  Eclipse.

The actress and Whip It helmer confirmed that she was in talks to direct the next movie in the Twilight series, IESB reports.

She said: "Timing-wise, I'm glad that it didn't work out. I think everything happens for whatever reason it's supposed to. I'm very much looking forward to seeing that film. And, there's been two or three others that I've flirted with.

"The thing that's really the most important for me is to be so in love with what I do that it's what gets you out of bed and makes you work six to seven days a week, 18 hours a day."

She added: "Unless you're that invested, you won't care about every single detail, like every little coffee mug that's in the corner, every little lighting scheme, every lens package, every costume, every piece of casting and every line of dialogue.

"Everything has to get 150% of your attention and passion, so it has to be something that you're that in love with. I'll wait until I find that thing. The truth is, I haven't had the time yet, in order to recharge my batteries, to find that thing."

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that David Slade would direct the third Twilight movie.

'Showgirls' sequel in the works

An update to 1995 film Showgirls is being developed, it has been reported.

German writer/director Marc Vorlander is at work on the follow-up, JoBlo.com reports.

The plotline will centre on a minor player from the original, which starred Saved By The Bell star Elizabeth Berkley and Gina Gershon.

Showgirls: Story Of Hope is to feature Rena Riffell's character travelling to Frankfurt to locate and seek vengeance on the people responsible for giving her brother a deadly dose of cocaine.

It is understood that the project has attracted two Hollywood producers who offered up $25m (£17.1m) for the sequel to be made.

The original Showgirls earned a total of $20m (£13.7m) on a $45m (£30.8m) budget, and was considered a box office and critical failure at the time of its release.

Stone for prostitution drama 'Satisfaction'

Sharon Stone will lead the cast of male prostitution drama Satisfaction.

The Basic Instinct actress will appear with Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) and Carice van Houten (Valkyrie) in the project, which will film in the UK and Italy.

"It's about a male prostitute in London who loses the older woman who's been taking care of him, and the call-out agency he's worked for is tired of his behavior and don't want to send him out anymore," Stone told Prestige.

"He goes looking for someone else to take c

are of him and he keeps trying to come on to [my character]. You think they have legitimately fallen in love, by his behavior and her behavior - until the call-out service starts sending him out again while he's with her. He starts trying to break her down. Grint movie 'gets distribution deal'

New Rupert Grint movie Cherrybomb will be released during 2010.

It had previously been reported that the film was struggling to secure a distribution deal, prompting an online campaign from fans of the Harry Potter actor.

Producer Simon Bosanquet told BBC News: "With a lot of independent films, it is hard to get them noticed.

"Rupert Grint has a very dedicated fanbase and it was very much down to them that this started."

Regarding scenes of sex and drug-taking in the movie, he added: "The film is a lot more than that.

"I suppose the interest of certain tabloids tends to be focused on areas where they can see Rupert playing characters unlike the ones he has played before."

The release date is yet to be confirmed but is likely to be in the first half of next year.

Agent The Little Film Company is also in talks with an American distributor regarding a US deal for the movie.

Chris Rock to star in 'Black Friend'

Chris Rock has signed up to star in comedy vehicle Will You Be My Black Friend?, reports Variety.

The comic will take a starring role in the project, which is being produced by Lionsgate and Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Films.

Based on a GQ magazine article written by Devin Friedman, it follows the writer's awkward attempts to add a black friend to his social group.

Rock's other upcoming projects include the Neil LaBute comedy remake Death At A Funeral.

Wahlberg signs for 'Reykjavik-Rotterdam'

Mark Wahlberg has signed up to star in Working Title's remake of Icelandic thriller Reykavick-Rotterdam, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, which will be scripted by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners), will be helmed by Baltasar Kormakur, who starred in the original.

Reykavick tells the story of a security guard and ex-alcohol smuggler who is tempted back to his criminal past when money proves hard to come by. The Oskar Jonasson-directed original is Iceland's nomination for the foreign-language Oscar this year.

Wahlberg's other upcoming movies include Will Ferrell comedy The Other Guys and the Shawn Levy-directed Date Night.
