About a Boy Premieres on NBC on February 22, 2014

Based on the best-selling novel by Nick Hornby ("High Fidelity," "An Education"), written and produced by Jason Katims ("Friday Night Lights," " Parenthood"), and directed by Jon Favreau ("Iron Man," "Revolution") comes a different kind of coming-of-age story.

After writing a hit song, Will Freeman (David Walton, "Bent," " Perfect Couples") was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. He's single, unemployed and loving it. So imagine his surprise when Fiona (Minnie Driver, "Good Will Hunting," "Barney's Version"), a needy single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son, Marcus (Benjamin Stockham, "1600 Penn"), move in next door and disrupt his perfect world.

When Marcus begins dropping by his home unannounced, Will's not so sure about being a kid's new best friend, until, of course, Will discovers that women find single dads irresistible. That changes everything and a deal is struck: Marcus will pretend to be Will's son and in return, Marcus is allowed to chill at Will's house, playing Ping-Pong and gorging on steaks, something his very vegan mom would never allow. Before he realizes it, Will starts to enjoy the visits and even finds himself looking out for the kid. In fact, this newfound friendship may very well teach him a thing or two that he never imagined possible - about himself and caring for others. Also starring is Al Madrigal ("Gary Unmarried").

Katims, Favreau, Tim Bevan ("Les Misérables," "About a Boy"), Eric Fellner ("Les Misérables," "About a Boy"), Liza Chasin ("Les Misérables," "About a Boy"), Robert De Niro ("About a Boy," "Meet the Parents") and Jane Rosenthal ("About a Boy," "Meet the Parents") serve as executive producers. "About a Boy" is a production of Universal Television, Working Title Films, True Jack Productions and Tribeca Productions.

Will pretending to have a child with leukaemia was a little disturbing but the fact he almost got Dakota into the sack was amusing and Fiona the new neighbour complaining about his cooking smoke was awkward, Marcus pretending to be Will son in front of Dakota was sneaky and what a great way to help Marcus from embarrassing himself on stage

Given i already watch the movie 10 years ago starring Hugh Grant it will be interesting how they can make this into a tv series .

it such a shame all actors are not successful every show lead guy has done end up getting cancelled

Taking Marcus to a charity pool party was crazy as he was there to pull the girls but with Marcus in tow he had no chance but Fiona using him as a character reference without asking first was funny

Andy and his wife ask Will to be godfather to their children was crazy as he didn't even know their names but babysitting them was impressive as he help Madison go to the toilet without her father

Will's advice about girls to Marcus was a disaster but being in the middle with Hannah using him to pass notes to the other boy was cruel as he fancied her himself but getting to dance with her was surprising

Dakota pushing Fiona to start dating was amusing as she wreaked her plumbing just to get her a date but Marcus being annoyed after the sex talk from Will was priceless

Will having to rush Marcus to the emergency room following the accident with a knife was bad timing as it was the first time he finally gets his own house key and I thought flirting with Dr. Lake was a bad idea but having a lot in common was surprising and trust her to find out he's not a real song writer

Fiona crashing Will's poker party was amusing but trust his mother to be drunk when Marcus was having a bad time after attending his first sleepover and wanted to leave

Will trying his best to throw the perfect party to impress Sam was amusing but bribing her boss to alter her shift did make it look like he was paying for her

You cant blame Will for looking at Fiona's boobs in that dress and Marcus getting his first kiss was amusing

Marcus's father Hugh was a strange freak but poor Will having him stay at his place I thought would spoil any chances he had with Sam and leaving without saying goodbye was diabolical

Sam's important gala conflict with Marcus' birthday party was unfortunate but leaving Sam to save Marcus' birthday was surprising and Sam turning up with an ambulance was awesome

Will and Marcus building the tree-house was awesome and you can understand why Fiona thought Sam might be pregnant but Will getting worried after he invites Sam to crash at his place when she needs a place to stay temporarily was amusing

Sam deciding to take the job in New York was the right thing to do for her future and asking Will to come with her was a big move but the way Marcus found out was terrible
