Season 1

Episode 1: (Nov/19/2008)
First in a four-part drama telling the story of the English Civil War through the eyes of a spirited aristocratic woman.

Angelica is born in 1623, when England is divided both politically and religiously, a time when political disobedience turned to revolution and civil war, and English history changed forever.

It is the start of a road that will change inexorably not only Angelica's life, but all of those with whom she comes into contact, including the most important figures of this tumultuous time.

Episode 2: (Nov/26/2008)
The people of the besieged city of Oxford, Angelica among them, are in a desperate situation. Devastated by the King's brutal betrayal, Angelica has been cast out of court, and finds herself destitute and starving.

Meanwhile, divisions are beginning to split the Parliamentarians. Even Thomas Rainsborough and Oliver Cromwell are at odds on what to do with King Charles I.

And John Lilburne vehemently attacks self-serving Parliamentarians profiting from the war.

Episode 3: (Dec/03/2008)
The country is in shock and divided as Oliver Cromwell puts the King on trial for treason and becomes the first head of the Republican Government.

With Rainsborough no longer able to protect Angelica, Joliffe plots his revenge.

Mourning her murdered husband, Angelica finds herself standing on the gallows facing her execution on the same day as the King, only to be taunted by Joliffe for being alone in her dying hour.

Meanwhile the free thinking John Lilburne is once again put on trial for his life, but this time by his fellow revolutionaries.

Episode 4: (Dec/10/2008)
Sexby is arrested and exiled after he refuses to fight for Cromwell. Angelica is distraught, but agrees to honour Sexby's departing wish and settle her debt with her enemy Joliffe.

Elizabeth says a final farewell to Lilburne. Sexby returns to England under disguise, convinced that Cromwell was responsible for the murder of Rainsborough, and hatches a suicidal scheme to assassinate him on the day of his coronation.
