One of the most frustrating advances in technology is TVs first came free view then HD and now 3D, do they think we are all made of money

No it just the fact they need make money,  technology is there for them take advantage of. If there wasn't demand for it they wouldn't make it

It's a disposable world now with our last TV that broke after only 6 months they came out to write it off without trying to repair it

That awful mind you our new tv still last because we hardly ever use it most of stuff i watch now are on the internet so only time TV will be used special occasions like 2012 Games.

The fact that you hook up your hard drive to the TV and constantly use it might be caused it break down.

I doubt it. TV's are designed for a certain amount of "life expectancy" - I'd imagine something significant was faulty on it and they decided it would cost as much to fix it as to replace it.

He didn't even look at it but perhaps there was a design fault with that model

Bad serviceman so, lol. But yeh, they might have known it was an overall design fault as you say.

Did you have any insurance when you bought the TV?

Most places 1 year warranty on electronic goods?

No it was still under warranty so the engineer gave me a note to take the TV back to where i brought it for a replacement but we made sure the replacement was a different TV

Tv's like most electronics (including cars) are made to be pretty well disposable now.  Look at price drops on tvs, every 6 months prices drop.  So in many instances, it is cheaper for a technician (not repairman anymore) to simply replace the whole machine than to try to fix it, as the time and money spent fixing it would be worth more than the electronic goods.  If they took the tv, then they will either send it back to manufacturer (where it might get refurbished and sold for a discount) or in some cases they just destroy the tv.

For a brief time, I worked in repairs at a sears, and many of the tv's and other electronics that got returned, ended up being destroyed and thrown in the compactor.

I have had a hard week, other than being a week behind on viewing my shows(and will fall farther until they convert my points, been 3 weeks since I requested ) , I had to drive 700 miles to be with my grandfather as he died.  He was a good man and will be missed and as soon as I got back, I am in a 4 day training that last almost 12 hours a day.

Hope your alls week has been better
