Hard to tell if episode is free of VIP

from waterlillybarb: -Hard to tell if episode is free of VIP - When you click on any show, the box with the description of the show has a line that says: "Required Points:", which either has a number beside it or says Free.- How much easier should it be?
Well I can tell you how easier it could be, you could make the amount of points searchable like it is on www.movieonline.cc your movie site. Pick required points from the drop down and enter 0 and all the free sites appear.. And select 1 point 2 and so on. My theory is that it wouldn't take you but 10 minutes since all you have to do is use the code you have on movieonline like you did with most of this new site. I was thinking about what you said about Playing Shows on VIP so i set auto refresh every min and most of the shows change so does that mean that nobody watches a show for more than 5 min

it means it keep track all shows people are playing at that time i.e if at time of refresh it only shows show just being loaded
I like the episode titles but I miss the shows being sorted by Genre. Overall not bad. Thanks so much.
I would like to weigh in on the new layout. I like that you returned to the earlier method of color coding the episode updates. I also love that you named the episodes but, like others, I would like to see the episode numbers appear in the viewing history. I wish that the list of all episodes in a season were on one page but that is just a wishlist item. Unlike many others I prefer the episode orders going from most recent to oldest because it makes it easier to see the latest show. In terms of the viewing - it is MUCH smoother with no freezing or buffering in the middle of episodes. No more annoying reloads. Love this improvement and I presume this was what the new design was meant to do, more than any other change. One question - Why do half hour shows like The Big Bang Theory cost 2 points? Good job.
I didn't notice any difference in my ability to view. However, I really, really miss the separation of shows into categories. That's what helped me find new shows to watch. Since you implemented this change, I have just not watched very much because it's so hard to get to the shows/eps. All in all not your best efforts.

mac user cannot use service

I spoke too soon, since you "fixed" the mac problem I can no longer watch shows at all. As I have something close to 1800 available points, this is distressing to me. Please contact me to let me know how to fix this problem, or if you will be issuing refunds.

no catagories

without category listings it is impossible to browse availanble shows. If you walked into a book library and everything was sorted a;phabetically would you be able to find related books? C'mon guys you had a good system with the previous GUI, no problems at all. It was also very tricky to actually re-find the vip site. There now appears to be two different sites and neither link clearly to the other.
Here is the link to the VIP site: http://viptv.net/index.htm so you can bookmark it, or add it to your favourites. Here are the links to the different genres (as supplied by our good pal 01torres): Drama Action/Adventure Comedy Sci-Fi Animation Reality It's not ideal, as it lists the shows by picture, but it's better than nothing for now. Admin takes the suggestions seriously, and I suspect we will eventually see the lists with genres back - but I can't promise it. [ Last edited by waterlilybarb at 5-28-2009 19:59 ]
Like bala, I wanted to experience the new site for a few days before posting, so this is gonna be really long! I've read several comments saying ppl don't like change, so they don't like the new site. Personally, I don't have a problem with change, as long as it's not change for the worse. The reason ppl are complaining, and the reason for my complaints, is that many of the changes to the site are for the worse. There are a few improvements, but ... I'll just say, I hope the admins can take this opportunity to make this site even better than it was before. -as far as actual episode viewing goes, I'm glad I haven’t gotten any “time out” or “invalid” msgs. -I don’t like that if I log into the site on the homepage, it still asks me to log in when I click on an ep to view -I REALLY miss drop-down menus for free & vip shows!!! -as many others have mentioned, I too miss the old way of organizing the show list at bottom of the homepage by genre -about the show list at the bottom of the homepage, hisredhead said, “if you insist on leaving them in alphabetical order now could you please put the shows into columns instead of having them all left to right, it's really irritating when trying to find a show now.” I agree. but I think this problem would be solved by listing shows according to genre. -I miss the old way of organizing episode updates, altho I'm glad you're once again color-coding. If you don't want to make the updates list at least as long as the traffic ranking list (there IS enough space for you to do this), perhaps you can create a page devoted to the episode update list, so we can see more than 12. It would also be cool if we could see the date the episode was added to the site. -I miss the “newly added” shows list. I’d rather see that than the “playing”, “promoted,” and “latest updated” shows list. -I miss the old system for seeing our viewing history, and I didn’t even like the old system! Now we can’t see what ep # we watched, just the name of the show - inconvenient. Also at the bottom of the page, to the left of the search bar are the numbers “1234567” so you can go directly to those pages, but they’re all mashed together, instead of “1 2 3 …”. It sucks that we lost the last few months of our viewing history, but since I kept track of that on my own (using a word doc), it didn't trip me up much. -for the viewing history, I’ve never liked that the shows you’ve watched most recently are on page 1, so that the location of these records is constantly changing. Why can’t we have a system where the first ep we ever watched on this site is on page one, and our most recent shows viewed is on the last page? you can (and should) display the viewing history the same way, with the most recent show appearing when you click on "viewing history", just reverse the page order. - in the viewing history, I DO like the “cost” column where it tells us how much we’ve paid to watch each ep. -I don’t like that the episodes in a single season are spread out over several pages. -I do like that the most recent ep is at the top of the list; it would be a bummer to have to go to page 2 or 3 every time there was a new ep for a show! -I like that you've included the episode titles; that makes it easier to remember what happened in each specific ep. For the Show Bleach: since you added the name of the episodes, can you also add the episode #? what I mean is, instead of starting the episode numbers over at 1 each new season, the numbers have been cumulative. so the most recent ep added to this site was ep #219 or so, and that's how the eps are referred to everywhere else on the net. and finally, a question: are we just coming to the end of seasons for certain shows, or has crossing over to this new site slows down the episode updates? thanks for all your hard work! Yes All major shows have wrapped but start from 4th June onwards Summer tv show season start
I am a developer and I like the lookout. Have u guys thought about cloud servers with a cache for eu and us? that should eliviate the load time as it is an AGE!!!!
i ment layout
I have to say – love the new look and features – and with the changes you have made since it first launched, it is all working very smoothly for me. The site now loads super fast for me, and I haven’t had any of those “time out” errors, and each episode has loaded first attempt… This improved functionality is by far the most important thing. Well done! Unlike some others, I like the episodes listing newest first and the voting system per season. Like many others, I’m very pleased to see the episode names, but would prefer the whole season on one page. Finally, thanks for adding the color coding on the episode updates. Its good to know you do listen to these comments. Overall – great job!
i'm also a mac user and can't seem to get the new site to work. whenever i click on an episode it goes directly to quicktime but the episode won't start playing. does anyone know what could be going wrong and how i fix it?

reply 196#196 aweppler's post

The only thing I can think of at the moment is to make sure Real Player is your default player, as it will open rather than quicktime. A few Mac users have found it takes a little longer for the episodes to load, but they are still able to view their shows. Also, see some of the posts from members in this thread, as they are Mac users too. Hopefully you will find a suggestion (if mine doesn't work) that will solve your problem. If not, please post again & we will do our best to get you back to viewing again as soon as possible.

categories?

Tricky to find shows when they're not organised into categories - just reams and reams of names. And the layout for the episodes takes up much more space now - why go for the less efficient option?

All the shows are listed at bottom of the page-if you can't find show you want let us know

show category

I suggest that the shows be categorized again according to its genre. In this case, it's easy to find them..
