Ice Cube Set To Play Cop In New Movie
More than 20 years after Ice Cube helped make infamous the mantra, “F### the Police” in a display of rebellion and defiance, he is now set to portray a police officer in his newest action-comedy movie, Ride Along. Needless to say, Cube’s new role is an interesting contrast to his N.W.A. days.
According to Variety.com, Cube will play a hard-edged cop whose only soft spot is his sister. After learning that she’s engaged to an affluent white psychiatrist, Cube’s character decides to discourage the relationship by taking his potential brother-in-law for a ride along in his squad car.
Ice Cube will produce the film along with his Cube Vision partner Matt Alvarez. Ride Along will also be Cube’s first film for New Line Cinema since 2002’s Friday After Next.
Cube and Alvarez will do a quick rewrite of the script before they begin shooting this summer.
