Well enjoy your alone time then cshapiro with your wife, I know that can be more valuable than anything else.

Lol, I think I know the hotel you mean. If  I'm right, I stayed there once before with my Job years ago.

Lol, but then you guys have super big roads. I've driven in the States & Australia, believe me, it's a different kettle of fish to driving back roads in Ireland or the UK. It's not the length of time as such, it's the going nowhere fast !! I could drive for hours upon hours if I had open roads in front of me. I love to drive, but not in traffic or being stopped at every second Traffic light (!) Although, our bigger roads are getting better, but they just aren't everywhere.

Yeh I think that's exactly my point. TRAFFIC !! Dublin City is a awful to drive into as London. I live about 50km (30 miles) from Dublin. One morning it took me 3 hours to get to work because we'd had really bad weather & the traffic was going nowhere fast. On average though, it took me 1.5 hrs there & 1.5 hrs back. So, 3 hrs to do a 100km (60 miles) round trip!

Luckily I work from home these days, but I did that drive for over 10 years. When I have to travel in now for the occasional day in the office I think to myself how did I do this every day, 5 days a week !!!

I really do love to drive, but on open roads with no traffic

Meg that's great. I'd say you are relieved to have it over and done with !! I'd imagine if a few of you thought that there must be something up. I remember last year when I was doing my Project Management exams, some of the questions were just not right. We found out later they were wrong & we instantly got a free 4%, nice!!

You know, I once had an American work colleague ask me if we celebrated the 4th of July in Ireland. Before I could say anything, my other work colleague (also American) jumped in explaining it's a celebration for "American" independence. I think he was really embarrassed !!

Arielle, I find that hilarious. The irony of the American friends wishing the British friends a happy independence day, lol. "Happy Independence, oh isn't that the day we dumped your ass?"

I agree that marked days just take on a holiday feel and people forget their significance. Take St Patrick's Day; It's a huge holiday that celebrated in so many countries now, yet I doubt most people are celebrating the fact that Patrick came to Ireland and turned us all into Christians from believing in Pagan Gods !!

Although, we have to thank those Irish Pagans, otherwise we'd never have had Halloween and all our silly superstitions !!

Lol, that's funny Arielle.

I used to work for an American Company. We basically looked after all of the Financial Accounts etc. The invoices used to be sent from the States, but when we took it over, they went from Ireland. We had changed our payment terms and I updated the remittance details to say "Make Cheques payable to XXXXX" - We got so many calls asking what a "Cheque" was. I was like, what do you mean what is it !! I then learned that you guys spell it check!! Not to mention the uproar of printing the invoices in A4 instead of Letter !! lol

I'm the same, I haven't posted here for a while.

Mel, I wanted to wish you all the best before you take your leave of us for your big day !! I hope you have a really fabulous time.

Arielle, hope you enjoy homecoming!!

Hey all, Barb congrats on the new glasses. When I was younger, I wanted a pair of glasses. My eyesight is 20/20 so I have no need. I tried to talk my folks into getting me clear glasses, didn't work. Haha !!

My brother (second eldest) and his girlfriend got engaged. We're delighted for them, they've been together for a while. They went to New York to get the ring and so my brother could properly propose.

Big year for us next year. A new baby on the way + a wedding !

Lol I just realised how I wrote my last update. I should just clarify that it's my other brother and his wife that are expecting the baby. Their second. Not my brother who is getting married, lol @ shotgun wedding !!

Barb, it will be lovely for you to see your family.

Shannon, that's very difficult. The sooner they can put an end to the war, the better.

Hey Studio, how are you?

Lol Barb, I've enough of them anyway so I guess that's why I just wrote it that way.

My brother and his now wife to be are home today. I can't wait to see her ring. My brother described it to me by text and it sounded beautiful.

That's great about your DSL line. I know how painfully slow dial up can be. Broadband/DSL is so much better !!

Hey ladies. Wow, I've had such an awful day. I was supposed to fly to Paris this evening for a work thing tomorrow and I couldn't find my passport. You can also use your National ID card but unfortunately they don't issue them in Ireland (much to all of our annoyance btw).

I searched for 2.5 hrs and then had to give up. I've no clue what happened to it, but needless to say that I'll have to cancel it. Bummer is that I still had another few years on it. It will cost me €75 to replace now!

Anyway enough moaning!!.....yep we had lots of Halloween fun here on the Friday. My nephew's all dressed up and were suitably scary!!

Thanks. Yep, me too. I think what might have happened is that during a big clear out I did a several weeks back, I may possibly have thrown it out in error! I just remembered that I had done the clear out and because I have searched high and low, I can only assume that's what happened

Oh well!

Unfortunately for him he has inherited an awful lot of cr*p from Bush and as such it will take possibly more than the 4 years he will be in power to fix. But he can make a damn good start + he has the houses to support him which will make it easier to pass motions.

I've no idea Bala. All I know is that the term may be too short to make major impact. Perhaps that will help him get re-elected. It all depends on what he does over the 4 years though.

Awh, lovely Mel. Did you have a great day?

Sorry to hear about your kitchen flooding !

I'd say all of those little things seemed huge on the day, but thankfully you had family on hand to sort it for you !!

Mel, glad to hear that company are going to look after the water damage. That's only fair, considering they didn't plumb it in properly !!!

Arielle, that's great that you made it into the sorority. You'll have to keep us updated on that.

Welcome back Barb !!

Hey Studio, Meg!!

I'm having a lazy day today. I was extremely busy in work this week and then on Friday night I met up with some old work mates. We had a blast. It was so nice seeing some of the old faces from when I started there (these are people who have left the job that i am still in).

Next week I'm meeting up with the girls from my previous job that I still keep in touch with. We meet up every 3 months or so.

Hey all. Hope you are all well.

Barb, I picked up a flipping head cold. Smothering at the moment, but I've just had a medicinal hot whiskey and it seems to be helping. My sister also has it so we think we picked it up from someone at my work reunion on Friday night. My sis was there too as she used to work there during the summer months when she was in college.

I'd say it'll pass very soon though. I normally on get a head cold for a day or two, when I do get them.
