I love my cuppa tea too, but I actually have the caffeine free variety. You can't tell the difference. My Dad (a massive tea fan) reckoned he could, so I made him tea with the caffeine free bags and he had no clue !!!

Here's some "fairy dust" to send you off to sleep.

Barb, so sorry to hear that. I know i've said this a few times before, but I don't know how you cope with not being able to sleep. My Oz experience (several weeks ago now) still has me shuddering at the thought and that was only a couple of days !

I guess the best thing is just to take it easy and rest even though you are not sleeping. I know there is no substitute for sleep, but at least if you are not physically doing too much, you might feel a little better.

You could always try my "Oz Remedy" tonight.....several glasses of chardonnay. (although I did pay for it the next day, lol)

Well I know an airline I won't be flying on to get over to you, hehe. Actually, watching programs like that don't really bother me !! Three nights before we flew to Oz I was watching another one of the "Seconds From Disaster" program. They are really interesting because they look at what caused the crash and that's the interesting bit !

And you are only 24/25. What you think at 25 can be very different to what you think at 35, 45, 55 etc. As you mature and your "ideals" change somewhat. I know mine have.

Haha, that's hilarious Studio !

I always find this one hilarious, similar to yours...
Quote:
A study conducted by Blakk Frogg’s Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of man a woman finds attractive can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.

For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features.

However, if she is menstruating, or menopausal, she tends to prefer a man with scissors lodged in his temple and a bat jammed up his ass while he is on fire.

Further studies in this area have been cancelled.
How is everyone? I've had a busy few days and haven't had much time to be on here. It was my Mam's birthday yesterday, so we went to Powerscourt which is a beautiful old mansion house with fantastic gardens. They also have beautiful shops and restaurants there. It's usually packed with Tourists, but we managed to get a seat in the Restaurant.

Then today I spent it with one of my best friends who's birthday was on Friday. We only got today to catch up.

Hugs back at you Mel and every one

I've been very busy in work, so I've not had much time to be on here. Then I got a chest infection, which is something I haven't had in years. It's pretty bad one, but I'm a good healer so it will just take time. I hate taking antibiotics, so I'm refusing to go to the Dr + not to mention that it costs €50 for a visit now + whatever the antibiotics will cost !

That's about it from me. Hope you are all well !

Hey Gypsy, thanks. I'm getting there. It's been a long one, but I decided to do it on my own and that's probably why it's taking longer !

Yep, girly clothing is gorgeous. But, having had 4 nephew's first before my little niece was born I agree with Barb; boys clothes are so much better than they used to be. We've such a varied choice here and they are very reasonable priced in a lot of the high street stores. But I do love buying little dresses for my niece and sending them over. My sis in law loves the clothes here, she reckons we have a better choice for children unless you are willing to pay a lot of dollars there (Australia)

Traditionally here in Ireland it's considered bad luck to buy things for the baby before they are born. But that's changing these days. People do kinda of stick to not buying clothes etc for the baby, but practical things like the buggie, car seats, a cot etc would be bought.

My sister found out the sex of her baby, she specifically asked. That's kinda rare here too. People generally don't want to know. Another superstition. Gosh, those Pagans have a lot to answer for !!  I would, I'd want to know !! lol.

I agree. I totally understand people who want to wait, but as you say, the little lady/gentleman being born is going to be surprise enough ! That's my practical side talking. It means you can be better prepared too !

In China there is a ban for having more than one child. If a family has more than one child, they have to pay a "social compensation fee".

The ban has been temporary lifted since the earthquake due to the number of children who died.

It makes sense really as most cities are where the population is at it's densest.

Here's an interesting fact for you. Women over the age of 35 are encouraged here to have the test because they are seen as a "high risk" category. However, most babies born with Down Syndrome are born to women under 35. I never knew that. That's probably more to do with the fact that more women under 35 are actually having babies. Still, it makes you think.

This is just for Ireland.

Yip that's true ! They put Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) into McDonalds Food which A) Gives it taste and B) Is what makes you feel hungry shortly after eating !

It's so bad for you. I can't eat it because it gives me palpitations. I don't really eat McDonalds food, but I noticed I got the same reaction after eating Chinese food here. Sure enough, they load all their dishes here with MSG. You now have to ask them to leave it out when you place your order! Which I do if we are having Chinese Food.

It's also what makes McDonalds so very very salty ! I dislike their food because of that, it tastes very salty to me. I'm not a big salt lover and I can taste it immediately when it's in food.

Most people eat too much salt (because it's in all pre-packed foods, cereals etc) I actually had to add it to mine, lol because the last time I had a blood test done they said it was borderline too low ! That made me laugh.

Oh and Happy Belated 4th of July to those of you celebrating Independence Day.

Barb, that happens to me too. I get "salty" cravings every now and again and I know it's because I need it. It hasn't happened to me in a while because I have been consciously adding it to my food.

Funny thing is obviously you hear so much about the bad affects Salt can have when you eat to much, but it's also bad if you don't have enough !! I used to get cramps in the back of my legs because I wasn't eating enough !

Studio, you are more than welcome. I mentioned before that I have a habit of retaining seemingly useless information, but every now and again it's useful !!

I dunno about that. I must ask my Mam about that, however my Mam smoked during nearly all of her pregnancies. In fairness to her, they didn't really know the bad affects that they know about now. Although, she didn't smoke when she was pregnant with my youngest brother.

The irony of it though is that he is the smallest of my four brothers and actually smaller than one of my sisters. So the theory of "stunted growth" didn't manifest there. None of us have asthma or problems with our lungs either and we were all average birth weight.

Out of the 7 of us, only my sister smokes now and she isn't really a big smoker, mostly when she is out socialising. My Mam hasn't smoked for about 20 years now too. She just decided one day and that was it. No patches or anything, just stopped smoking.

I have to say, I really hate smoking. I was so happy when they banned smoking in public places here back in 2004. It really made a massive difference when you are out in the pub or a restaurant ! To think we put up with it for so long !

Gosh Arielle that must have been so scary. To think only a short while ago you were taking that bus. Try not to think about it too much because it will really mess with your head.

Yes, kick boxing is definitely a great work out. I used to do a Jazz aerobics class. Dear lord, it used to nearly kill me !!

Oh, I'm glad to hear your sister was nowhere near it. I know what you mean. I suppose that's not such a bad reaction to have, it just shows how close it is to your heart.

Yep and it was also one of the reasons why I was getting palpitations. The electrical balances in the heart rhythm were upset.

Although, it's very uncommon these days for people (in Western society) not to be getting enough Salt.

*edit* and the other thing I noticed was that I kept getting really bad electrical shocks ! That doesn't happen to me anymore.
