Episode 5: The Big Lock-Out (Oct/27/2000)

Season 3

Episode 1: Manny Come Home (Mar/11/2004)
Fran returns from a holiday in Cornwall to find Bernard living amongst mouldy books and dead badgers and Manny working next door at the extremely glossy Goliath Books following an incident involving Manny's hand and a sandwich toaster, where he is decidedly out of place amongst creepy manager Evan and his army of hyper-efficient pastel-shirted followers. Armed with only a "duty to do" card (a card that elicits a "doo-ti-too-doo" sound when inserted into the corresponding slot on a computer) and an endless supply of muffins, Manny manages to resist Fran's rather self-serving attempts to drag him back to Bernard so that she has somewhere to hang out. Bernard's physical condition deteriorates rapidly without Manny's care ("I feel like I've been beaten up, underwater"), but Manny is soon questioning his choice of career as Evan demands an unthinkable sacrifice.

Guest star: Simon Pegg as Evan.

Episode 2: Elephants and Hens (Mar/18/2004)
Fran leaves for the weekend to go to her friend Becky's hen party while Bernard and Manny, inspired by their latest children's-book event, decide to write and illustrate a book for children. Bernard's first effort comes to over 1,000 pages, covers Joseph Stalin, a lens grinder, a broken marriage, and a truth-seeking journalist – a bit complex for kids. The subsequent masterpiece, The Elephant and the Balloon, could bring them international fame—and all its problems. Meanwhile, Fran's hen party is a disaster: the booze starts flowing, and a game of truth stirs up tears and recriminations.

Guest stars: Lucy Davis as Becky, Olivia Colman as Tanya, Charlie Hicks as Timmy and, Oliver Golding as Young Customer.

Episode 3: Moo-Ma and Moo-Pa (Mar/25/2004)
Manny's irritating parents, 'Moo-Ma' and 'Moo-Pa', unexpectedly come to stay after Bernard deletes Manny's answerphone messages. Bernard is instantly infuriated by their mere existence, not to mention their annoying quirks and songs, but his patience and Fran's nerves are tested when it's revealed that Manny's letters home have greatly embellished his actual accomplishments in life.

Guest stars: Annette Crosbie as Moo-Ma, Sam Kelly as Moo-Pa, and Nick Frost as an answerphone voice.

Episode 4: A Little Flutter (Apr/01/2004)
After a small win on the Grand National, Bernard becomes addicted to gambling, leaving Fran and Manny in a bitter competition to sell as many books as possible. Soon horses aren't enough and Bernard lands in an illegal poker game against a group of ruthless, successful gamblers, including Dave 'Mouse Ear' Smith. Being utterly hopeless at cards, Bernard (now nicknamed The Gold Mine) loses everything, and Fran and Manny need to hatch a plan to obtain the money before Bernard's debtors "evict" him from his shop, £20,000, and/or his legs.

Guest stars: Keith Allen as 'Mouse Ears' Smith and Craig Parkinson as Martin the Tout.

Episode 5: Travel Writer (Apr/08/2004)
Manny organises a book launch party at the shop with charismatic-but-smug travel writer Jason, and everyone starts falling for him and his stories of far-away adventure. Meanwhile, Bernard's landlord has died and a small cat now owns the building. Driven to destroy the cat's burgeoning real-estate empire, he attempts to persuade an animal-loving pest exterminator to turn kitty hitman. His attempts fail and cause the exterminator to commit suicide. When Bernard tries to finish the job, Manny is injured.

Guest stars: Julian Rhind-Tutt as Jason and Catherine Shepherd as Bridget.

Episode 6: Party (Apr/15/2004)
On a slow Friday night, Manny suggests that the gang go to a party which will be attended by Rowena, a girl he likes. Instantly jealous, Bernard overcomes his natural reluctance with curiosity to see what kind of "so-called person" could find Manny attractive. Manny arms himself with an array of items to strategically leave about the house to give him an excuse to call her, and Fran checks her perfect new hairstyle. They return much later armed with a bizarre selection of alcohol, messed-up hair, and a desire to dance badly. An excess of beetroot liqueur gives Manny the courage to confront Bernard regarding his disdain for Manny's affection for Rowena — this brings forth a shocking revelation from Bernard, which is soon tarnished as Fran tells Manny the truth about Bernard.

In New Hampshire, Jim finds himself the Romney campaign bus' resident punching bag.

In the wake of Leona’s (Jane Fonda) refusal to accept the resignations of three top ACN talents, “News Night” goes forward with its 2012 election night coverage, featuring Will (Jeff Daniels) in the unlikely role of director of morale. Sloan (Olivia Munn) is perturbed that her book was auctioned off with a forged signature, while Mac (Emily Mortimer) tasks Neal (Dev Patel) to fix a faulty Wikipedia page. 9. Election Night, Part 2

About Get Out Alive (2013)

Get Out Alive (2013) Premiered on NBC on July 08, 2013

About the Show:
"Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls" is a larger-than-life adventure reality competition series hosted by world-renowned survivalist Bear Grylls.

Grylls leads this non-stop extreme survival journey that tests 10 teams of two beyond their wildest imaginations as they venture into the unforgiving and dramatic landscape of New Zealand's South Island. Their mission is threefold: survive the wild, journey as a group and avoid elimination. Each week, Bear will send home another team. In the end, only one duo will remain - the team that he believes has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" and claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

From dense forests and sheer mountain drop-offs, to freezing cold rivers and unforgiving glacier crevasses, the landscapes tackled will be harsh, remote and physically and emotionally draining. Having to navigate the worst that the wild can throw at them every step of the way, the contestants will be battling to survive like never before.

Every team is assigned a task to take charge of throughout each leg of the journey - including food, fire shelter and obstacles. This is not a race, but is a life-changing adventure to reveal the raw survival spirit needed to "get out alive."

All along the way, Bear, the ultimate adventure survival expert, will be watching, either from vantage points or while traveling with the group. He is looking for that survival spirit, resourceful skill and heart-led determination that he knows the wild demands. If the situation requires, Bear will step in, but all the time, the duos must work together to overcome the cold, fatigue and hardships. And at the end of each leg of the journey, there are difficult and emotional decisions to be made by Bear as he chooses who should leave the expedition.

As the stakes get higher, the obstacles become more unyielding. As civilization gets closer, the journeys get harder, until ultimately only one duo remains. That team will have endured and survived the ultimate test of character and fortitude - walking away with the grand prize, along with the scars and pride that they proved themselves capable to "Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls."

This series marks the first time international television star Grylls will debut on network television.

"Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls" is co-produced by Bear Grylls Ventures and Ben Silverman's multimedia studio, Electus. Grylls, Silverman, Chris Grant, Laura Caraccioli and Doug McCallie serve as executive producers.

World-renowned survivalist Bear Grylls ("Man vs. Wild," "Born Survivor") leads a non-stop extreme survival journey that tests 10 teams of two beyond their wildest imaginations as they venture into the unforgiving and dramatic landscape of New Zealand's South Island. Their mission is threefold: survive the wild, journey as a group and avoid elimination. Each week, Bear will send home one team. The nine remaining teams face their fears in their first challenge after being transported via helicopter into dangerous alpine terrain, where they must climb to the top of a jagged cliff. Meanwhile, tempers flare on one team, and with little food, some contestants are running out of steam. In the end, one team will be sent home and only one duo will remain - the team that has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" will claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

Episode 3: Leave No Man Behind (Jul/22/2013)

Once completed, they must face the challenge of navigating waterfalls, where things take an unexpected turn. Episode 4: The Mountains Will Give You Strength (Jul/29/2013)
The seven remaining teams are taken by a door-less helicopter to the base of a raging waterfall and instructed to ascend. Meanwhile, hunger sets in, and teams rely on Bear for strength to continue. Elsewhere, one team reaches their breaking point. In the end, one team will be sent home and only one duo will remain - the team that has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" will claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

Episode 5: Don't Look Down (Aug/05/2013)
The six remaining teams are flown by helicopter to their next journey where they must cross a rope suspended one hundred feet above a deep gorge. The extreme height and harsh camping conditions test the teams mentally and physically. In the end, one team will be sent home and only one duo will remain - the team that has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" will claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

Episode 6: The Tough Get Going (Aug/12/2013)
With morale waning, the five remaining teams join forces to safely rappel down a dangerous cliff while encountering their coldest night thus far. Meanwhile, the competition steps up a notch in their quest to stay in the game. In the end, one team will be sent home and only one duo will remain - the team that has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" will claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

Episode 7: Frozen Planet (Aug/19/2013)
The four remaining teams confront their next challenge as they get helicoptered to the top of a glacier, where they must navigate unforgiving terrain and dangerous crevasses. With high altitudes and fewer resources, the tasks become more demanding. In the end, the three teams that remain will compete in the final journey and the one team that has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" will claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

Episode 8: No Guts, No Glory / Finale (Aug/26/2013)
In the season finale, the three remaining teams encounter their final challenge -- a wet rainforest amidst torrential downpour that pushes each of them to their limits. In the end, survival expert Bear Grylls selects the winning team that has shown the most heart, courage, initiative and resolve in their quest to "get out alive" and will claim a life-changing grand prize of $500,000.

Naked and Afraid Premiered on Discovery Channel on July 23, 2013

About the Show:
Naked and Afraid takes "survival of the fittest" to the next level. Each week, a new pair of complete and total strangers - one man and one woman - will find themselves stranded in and, quite literally, exposed to some of the world's most extreme weather environments. Each duo will be left high and dry with no food, no water...and no clothes. They must survive on their own for a full 21 days, with nothing but one personal item each and the knowledge that the only prize is their pride and sense of accomplishment.

In Naked and Afraid, these brazen and bold couples will get acquainted with each other and their new surroundings very quickly, forcing them to question and test everything they may think they know about their acquired survival skills and instincts.

Will the nude castaways have the brains and brawn to endure the harsh conditions? Or will the challenges prove to be overbare-ing? Watch as each couple battles the elements, each other, and their own inner weakness to see who will triumph over the terrain or fail under the force of nature.
