Call The Midwife is a drama series adapted for television by Heidi Thomas from Jennifer Worth's best selling memoir, book of the same name. The series is a colourful look at the world of midwifery and family life in 1950's East End London. Jenny joins an eccentric community of nursing nuns having just qualified.

Jenny's first call was amusing considering the mother was Spanish and didn't speak English so asking one of her daughters about her last period was embarrassing but the husband saying it's been 11 years was incredible because she's had one after another with a few twins in between totaling 24 children and them both surviving the premature birth was incredible

Jenny running into Mary was interesting and seeing the unfamiliar side of life following her encounter with the runaway was a bit of an eye opener and the new girl Chummy learning to ride a bike was amusing but the way she delivered the breach birth was incredible

Jenny being put on the district nursing roster for a few weeks was different and looking after Joe, the old soldier with awful leg ulcers was disgusting to start with but taking him to the reunion was beyond the call of duty and very nice of her but tragic that he lost his legs and died shortly afterwards and as this is set in the 1950's no wonder she didn't want to give birth to a black baby but the doctor telling the husband the good news i thought was crazy as he isn't the father and his reaction was amazingly good

The girls trying to listen to Jenny's phone call was amusing and how tragic that Margaret lost the baby and fighting a death sentence herself because she had eclampsia but the baby girl being snatched from her pram was sad but leaving her outside was asking for trouble and asking the mother to go easy on the girl who took her baby was asking a lot

Peggy's brother, Frank, being diagnosed with cancer was sad but their relationship was strange and Jenny offering him the care that he needs was nice but leaving the morphine behind was a accident but a blessing in disguise when Peggy decided to join him when he died and what a place to deliver the baby when the smell of fish makes you sick

Sister Monica Joan refusing to take Penicillin because Nostradamus hadn't foreseen it was amusing but also being caught steeling and then returned to Nonnatus House by the local police was interesting but Jenny getting in trouble for trying to protect her was predictable, poor Cathy having triplets at such a young age and all boys as well and ending with Chummy's wedding was nice

Having to give birth it the toilet with the neighbours watching was a little bizarre and Mrs Jenkins was bound to be an awkward patient but her strong right hook was amusing, Jenny Lee ending up getting caught up in the mystery that surrounded her was nice, the young girl knowing what to do after giving birth was a surprise and abandoning the baby with the nun's was predictable but being reunited at the end was great

I thought Chummy had taken too much gas when she was demonstrating it but it's a good job the doctor had it in his car as the patient was one hell of a screamer and Jenny standing up to the abusive husband was brave but no surprise the both end up in prison for neglect, going aboard a Swedish cargo ship to deliver the captain’s daughter's baby was interesting as her father was using her like a hooker for the sailors which was diabolical

That was tragic when the Kelly family's new-born son, Thomas died in what looked like cot death and sad to think Cynthia came under intense pressure from the police, Chummy leaving to work as a missionary was brave
