I missed this when it originally aired, but there was mention of it on tonight's episode. I don't know about you, but this made me laugh. There are a few weird (as in uncomfortable moments) but for the most part it's just stinkin' funny.

I just saw Frozen River today, and thought the movie is quite grim, her performance was definitely award worthy.  I've always liked her.  I first noticed her in the series Young Guns, and then on Homicide: Life on the Streets.  She's a very good actress - one who's always believable in the roles she plays.

I REALLY hope that it's just gossip.  What a tragedy for her family if it's true.   

I guess we'll know soon enough.

I know.  It's just so sad - especially when there are children left behind.   But every death is sad for the family of the person who died.  Accidents just seem to strike harder because they are so unexpected.

Oscar winner Karl Malden has died at his home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, three years shy of his 100th birthday. The Streets of San Francisco star was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1912 and raised in Gary, Indiana - coincidentally the birthplace of Michael Jackson, who died last week.

A former steelworker and teacher, Malden studied acting at the Goodman Theater Dramatic School in Chicago and chose to take his talents to New York, where he became involved with the fabled Group Theater.

He made his stage debut in 1937 and struck up a theatrical partnership with legendary director Elia Kazan, who cast Malden in a host of successful Broadway shows.

After serving in World War Two, the actor landed his big movie break in 1940's They Knew What They Wanted and he quickly became an in-demand film star, winning an Oscar for his performance as Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1951.

He also landed roles in classics like On the Waterfront and Baby Doll.

Malden became a household name in America when he teamed up with Michael Douglas in TV cop drama The Streets of San Francisco in the early 1970s.

He also became the pitchman for American Express - a position he held for 21 years.

In 1988, he was elected President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - a title he held for five years.

Malden's memoir is called When Do I Start?: A Memoir.

As well as his Best Supporting Actor Oscar win in 1951, the actor also claimed an Outstanding Supporting Actor Emmy in 1985 for the TV series Fatal Vision.

Malden was honoured with Life Achievement Awards at the Temecula Valley International Film Festival in 1998 and the Screen Actors Guild Awards of 2004.

His star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame can be found at 6231 Hollywood Boulevard.

I liked Mollie Sugden.  My Mum & I used to watch the repeats of Are You Being Served? at night on PBS.  We would try to guess what colour her hair would be each episode. LOL!

Some will be too young to remember, but I was a big fan of the TV show "The Jeffersons" when I was younger.  Sherman Hemsley played George Jefferson, the male lead.  Here is a link to one of the press releases regarding his passing:

Actor Chad Everett - known recently for portraying an older version of Jensen Ackles' character Dean Winchester on "Supernatural", died after a year and a half battle with lung cancer.  Here is a link to one of the news reports of his passing:

So sad to hear and report that Robin Williams, 63 years old, was found dead this morning, and that it is an apparent suicide.  Depression is so prevalent, and the stigma needs to erased.

Depression is not necessarily caused by anything external.  In fact, most clinical depression has absolutely nothing to do with what is going on in one's life.  A person can have a happy marriage, a beautiful family, a good job, enough money, and even be spiritually active, then wake up one day to find that they can't find joy in anything.  One of the things I admired about Robin was how candid he was in discussing his struggles with addiction, and also that he suffered from bouts of depression.  What made this bout cause him to feel such despair that death was the only way to escape it is something we will likely never know.  I feel such sadness for his family, and hope that the media leaves them to grieve in peace.  

I also hope that this opens up more discussion about depression, especially in men.  Too many suffer quietly, often using drugs and alcohol to self-medicate, because there is still a lot of stigma around depression.  There are still people who mistakenly think that depression is some sort of character weakness, and that people can just snap themselves out of it.  If only it were that simple.

They can continue to report the story without infringing on his family's privacy.  The media seemed to show some respect for the family of Philip Seymour Hoffman and still report the story.

I didn't find that helpful at all.  His financial situation wasn't a secret.  I'm sure he went through other serious financial setbacks before, because of the divorces, and probably when he was still doing drugs.  There's really no good that can come of speculating as to why he took his life.  Unless he left a note, he took the reason with him.

He brought joy to millions throughout the years.  He was an outstanding actor, a brilliant comedian, and, from all accounts, a kind and gentle man.  He used his talent to help raise funds for the homeless through the Comic Relief USA charity.

He was married with children, but he had been married twice before.  I remember quite well when he divorced his first wife, and then married their nanny.  It was a fairly high profile divorce.  They were married for nearly 20 years.  All of his children were from the first two marriages.  He was married to the woman who is now his widow for a few years.  He actually did a very good job of keeping his family life fairly private.  I remembered that he remarried a few years ago, but I don't recall there being a lot of press about his divorce from his 2nd wife.

Mark Salling was best known for his role as Noah "Puck" Puckerman. I know that he was a deeply flawed man, who was awaiting sentencing after serious child pornography charges, but my heart goes out to his family.
