I would like to know what Angela's NAME is!  I've been watching older epis in repeats at night here, and catching the new epis - but how bad could it be? < me thinking of some hideous names a woman could have lol

Like you, I've recently watched the entire series (up to now).  That's a good point.  I didn't notice, but you're right.  I prefer her being tough too.  It suits her character better.

I agree - it was nice to see brennan more like her old self.  I enjoyed the epi & look forward to see how the season progresses.

While I watched the show last night, I had missed the first 5 minutes, which I just watched.

We are now 7 months after they left.  I'm curious if on the 1 year anniversary of their leaving if Brennan & Booth will meet for coffee as they originally planned.  It would allow time for this season to develop (along with Booth's relationship with his new lady love), and also allow for situations to change & evolve.  In 5 months time, Angela will be much nearer to having her baby, which may cause Brennan to revisit that idea for herself again.  I think a lot will depend on how the season goes and if this will be the final season or not.  If not, I doubt they will involve Brennan & Booth romantically, as that often kills a show, since the tension is gone.

On another note - Daisy & Lance made me laugh.  I was with him, and thought they were no longer engaged.  he looks awfully cute this season with his new look.  Much less like the kid he looked like before.  I had to laugh out loud  - 1st, when Daisy stripped to her undies to show she was a woman, and 2nd when she & Lance starting making out in front of the elevator.  Too funny.    I'm also glad Wendell is back, as the show needs a "normal" cool guy - Angela being the "normal" cool girl.

As for the pregnancy, I think last season it was a way to let Angela see that Hodges was really the man for her.  I don't know if she's really preggers, but I LOVED his reaction.

SUPER season opener.  Can't wait to see more.

I preferred the "piano player look" too, but I don't suppose it meets FBI dress code criteria.

It will be interesting to see how Bones comes to terms with how she's feeling.  I felt a little sorry for her when she told Angela that she's the only one living the life she expected - meaning alone.  I quite liked Hannah, which surprised me a little.  I think her issue will be more the boredom of life in Washington, since she's been a war reporter, and that may be the thing that causes her & Booth to break up, since he is going to stay where his son is.

I figured out the murderer quite quickly, but the back-story for the couple was interesting & not one I foresaw.

I haven't laughed so much during a Bones episode in a while, maybe ever.  Brennan's take on the anthropology of the "Guido Tribe" of the Jersey Shore was hysterical!

I agree that Booth & Hannah won't be a long-lasting relationship, but I thought it was sweet that Brennan gave Hannah the idea for the phone as a gift, and that she is trying to stifle her feelings so Booth can be happy.  She WILL have to deal with them eventually, but her intentions are good.

And now nearly everyone knows that Angela's preggers.  I wonder if they'll be able to feign surprise convincingly when Hodgins makes the big announcement. haha

Like Sweets. I agree most relationships that begin inan adreniline fueled atmosphere have a much lower success rate.  I think Booth deserves to be happy too, and if Brennan can't bring herself to be honest about her feelings, or trust that love is possible, then I think he will meet someone who will be compatible with him, and not someone who, though compatible, won't be satisfied for long living a quiet life.

I'm finding this season's humour very refreshing.  Though they still deal with some awful stuff, Bones' sense of humour, along with the return of her kicking butt ways, is making the show a lot of fun to watch.

David Alan Grier as The Science Dude was spot on!

I must concur - those were my favourite parts of the epi too.

I kind of like the revolving interns, though it seems the depressed/depressing one (Colin) may remove himself.  Mr. Nigel-Murray is already gone (isn't he?), and too much of Daisy would drive me crazy - rhyme unintended.  That only leaves Wendell, Clark and Arastoo (though I don't remember seeing him this season)...not to mention Daisy, and I like them all, in smaller doses.  I DID really like Zack though.

I tend to agree with you re: the Hannah/Booth relationship - I can't see them killing her, as it wouldn't serve the show.  I like how it's going now.  I have a feeling that if the show is ever going to try a Booth/Bones romantic relationship it will have something to do with Booth's Grandpa's death & what he told Bones to tell Seeley.  There's a level of intimacy in that, and though Bones is a self-sufficiant woman, she doesn't seem to be intentionally putting herself in harm's way for the sake of her work - which Hannah is doing, and which, in the end, might be too much for Booth to take, since he is innately a protector.

I didn't notice anything off between Angela & Hodgins either.  I just don't think they were really featured in this epi as there was a lot of other things going on - including the return of Aristoo.

Angela's idea of how to make the skeleton was very cool!

I think the issue is more that TV writers know that once they put a couple together that have had good chemistry it's often the death-knell of the show.  The sexual tension is gone, and for some reason, people don't stick around for a relationship like they do for the "will they get together?" phase.  That's why I think they won't be a couple until the show is definitely in it's last season.  It's unfortunate, because, if well-written & acted, a relationship can be just as interesting (if not more) to explore and watch, as an audience.

@ sanggye:
Have we not seen the Angelator? I watch repeats regularly, as they air on a local channel, so I can't remember when we last saw it on the show.

I like that they seem to be becoming friends too.  I hate it when they make women catty because of a man.  That just wouldn't fit, especially with a character like Bones, who is SO pragmatic.

I agree - it had a good mix of drama, comic relief & real heartfelt emotion.  I enjoyed it...too tired to really say more.

I agree - it was a fair to middling epi.  I read somewhere that most good series' will have a couple excellent epis per season, at least one stinker, and the rest would be average - and it's a rarity they know which will be which when they shoot them.  I found that interesting, as it shows that good shows strive for excellence pretty much of the time, but know it's not always achievable. As long as the good outweighs the bad, they do alright.

This episode - I agree with Bala, hiding a body in the chocolate was not a good idea, especially since it was always going to be cut open.  I guess with crimes of passion, which I guess this was, people don't really think clearly.

Nigel was as annoying as ever.  Idiot blew his whole winnigs!

I loved how they tried to fake not knowing for Hodgins...all 4 of them.

This was a really good episode.  I knew Bones what Bones was seeing obviously wasn't real, but the fact she so identified with this victim really made her take a look at her own life.  I thought it was very brave of her to admit her feelings to Booth, especially as she knows he's in a relationship, and would most likely turn her down.  The fact that she did it so she wouldn't have the regret of him not knowing was touching.

Unless this is the final season arksongbird, I don't see them putting the two of them together as a couple.  I do think Hannah will eventually leave, even though she loves Booth.  I think her career means too much to her to keep her tied to one place, which will eventually become a big problem in their relationship - OR, she will get killed while investigating that case she was told not to.

As much as we'd like to see B&B together, TV is very different than books, and it's unlikely the writers & execs of the show will allow it unless the show is nearing it's end.  I think it's too bad because I think it would make for good television, as it would be a good story, but at the same time, they wouldn't be allowed to work together if they were a couple (and it was known by anyone at the FBI).

i think they'll address it again, though in any episodes coming right up, they'll probably try to just go on like normal, like when Booth told Brennan his feelings for her.

Yes it was - on both counts.  I think Hodgins was completely justified in his reaction.  Unfortunately, I've been in the position to feel nothing but relief when someone died, and I totally understood where he was coming from.  Angela's perspective is different, and also - she's pregnant, which, no doubt, would cause her to feel a little more compassion - in spite of how evil the "Gravedigger" was.

One question - did Booth tell anyone that he didn't take the shot when he had the chance?  I couldn't tell if he put that in his report or not.

On another note - you mentioned they don't use the "Angelator" anymore.  I wonder if it was too expensive of an effect, since they now mostly use the computer to similar effect.

I really hope drinking doesn't become a big problem for him - though alcoholism runs in his family, so they definitely might write it in.  I found it sad, and also a bit cruel, even though Hannah said she had told him she isn't the marrying kind.  Why stay with someone you know will eventually want to get married if you know you never will - or why stay with someone you know won't ever marry you?  It's a recipe for disaster and heartbreak.  I find it even more upsetting because when someone has a kid, that kid has an emotional investment in the relationship too - even though children are resilient.

I thought it was kind of Hannah to call Bones so she could check on Booth, but a little unkind at the same time, knowing how Bones feels.  I guess we'll just have to wait & see how they decide to play this out.

They are. I saw Michael Clarke Duncan on a chat show talking about it.  I think it would be a pretty good show, and I liked the characters.  There's a lot of room for character development and story telling with them.
