About the Show:
RIZZOLI & ISLES follows Boston detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), complete opposites and good friends who solve crimes and bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. Growing up at opposite ends of the economic spectrum, the two remain strikingly different from one another in many ways. Jane, the only female detective in Boston’s homicide division, is a tough and gutsy cop who doesn’t let her guard down (except with Maura), dodges her overprotective mother and is better at basketball than her brother. Maura, meanwhile, is usually more comfortable among the dead than the living. She is always impeccably dressed in designer duds with a steady, sometimes icy temperament. And she is working on curbing her tendency to diagnose the people she meets – including her first dates. Jane and Maura often find themselves working together as both use their brilliant minds and expertise to figure out the “who done it” as well as the “how done it” of Boston’s most complex cases.

Despite their many differences, Jane and Maura are best friends, with a quirky and supportive relationship. As Tamaro explains, “That Jane and Maura are so different and yet so effective as a team makes them unusual.… There’s something rare about their relationship that I see in the world but not enough on television: two smart, strong, competent women who instinctively drop the protective shield when they’re with each other.”

A shooter targets runners at The Boston Marathon. Jane and Maura must conduct their investigation in secret to avoid a panic and catch the killer before another shooting.

8. I'm Your Boogie Man
Jane was once abducted and neared killed by imprisoned serial killer Charles Hoyt. Now a body found in a park has all the indications of being his work. Jane must do her best to keep her fear of this man in check while Maura attempts to get inside the mind of the killer.

1. We Don't Need Another Hero
After taking a bullet in the Season Finale during a siege of the precinct, Jane Rizzoli is honored as a hero at a public event. The celebration is short-lived, however, when disaster strikes. The ensuing case reunites Jane with an old high-school flame, Sgt. Major Casey Jones (guest star Chris Vance), who may be just the person she needs to heal her emotional scars.

2. Living Proof
Jane and Maura’s relaxing day at an outdoor spa is anything but when they discover the murder of a pregnant woman serving as a surrogate mother. Soon the hunt is on to find the baby’s biological parents.

5. Don’t Hate the Player
Jane and Maura investigate after the coach of the Boston Pilgrims baseball team is found dead in the locker room. The death comes as a star player and the team owners battle for control of the team. Meanwhile, Jane’s brother Tommy (guest star Colin Egglesfield – Something Borrowed, Melrose Place) returns home after being released from jail.

6. Rebel Without a Pause
A Revolutionary War re-enactment becomes the scene of a real killing when a soldier turns up dead. Maura’s extensive knowledge of American history becomes important as she and Jane try to solve the case. And Maura’s brilliant mother, Constance Isles (guest star Jacqueline Bisset – nip/tuck, Joan of Arc), comes to Boston for an art exhibit.

7. Bloodlines
Jane and the team investigate what appears to be a modern-day witch hunt in Salem. Meanwhile, Frankie's old girlfriend returns to town with a surprise, and Jane has no problem speaking her mind about the situation.

8. My Own Worst Enemy
Jane and Maura delve into a family's background when a man is killed in what appears to be a mugging gone wrong. Meanwhile, a romantic and mysterious figure from Maura's past shows up, causing a rift when Jane suspects Maura is hiding something.

9. Gone Daddy Gone
When a young, female dockworker is found dead, the team discovers that the dock has mob connections that may lead to Maura's biological father (guest star John Doman - The Wire). Jane tries to evade sensitivity training. And Maura starts spending time with Jane’s brother Tommy (guest star Colin Egglesfield - Melrose Place), much to Jane's dismay. Meanwhile, after months of preparation, Frankie Jr. is ready to take the detective's exam.

When a community activist is gunned down, one brave witness comes forward to testify against a well-known gang member who is thought to have murdered 15 people. While the detectives work diligently to put him away, television host Bill O'Reilly comes to town for a book signing and criticizes the police department on-air. Roselyn Sanchez guest-stars as the gorgeous-and-driven Assistant District Attorney Valerie Hudson.

12. He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother
Boston Homicide teams up with the FBI after a bank manager is shot during a robbery. Jane's brother Tommy (guest star Colin Egglesfield) may be facing more trouble just as his relationship with Maura begins to grow. Tessa Thompson guest-stars as by-the-book FBI Agent Anna Farrell, who has a complicated history with Detective Frost.

13. Seventeen Ain't So Sweet
Jane attends her high school reunion and brings Maura along for the ride, but the fun is cut short when one of her old classmates turns up dead on the football field. Jane must focus on the past when she realizes everyone in her class is a potential suspect. Meanwhile, Korsak gets a visit from ex-wife Melody Patterson (guest star Lolita Davidovich), who hopes he'll invest in her new business. Chris Vance returns as Sgt. Guest star Lolita Davidovich returns as Korsak's ex-wife Melody.

15. Burning Down the House
When a warehouse fire kills a firefighter, Jane and Maura must investigate whether it was arson or an accident. But the investigation hits a snag when a hit-and-run leaves someone in the hospital. Guest star Billy Burke returns as FBI Agent Gabriel Dean, who hopes to rekindle his relationship with Jane. And guest star Jacqueline Bissett reprises her role as Maura's mother, Constance Isles.

A boy band star returns to his roots for a show and winds up murdered. Jane and Frankie, who grew up with the victim, work hard to solve the case. 10. Melt My Heart to Stone
When a statue breaks open to reveal a dead woman inside, Jane and Maura must find the killer quickly as the body count begins to rise. Meanwhile, Tommy wants proof that he's the biological father of Lydia's baby as she returns to take the baby back. And Detective Korsak is reunited with one of his ex-wives.

12. Love the Way You Lie
A famous young writer of memoirs is found dead in an apparent suicide, but Jane and Maura soon discover there's more to the story. Meanwhile, Frost becomes obsessed with an old case involving a young African American student as his final appeal is denied. And Jane discovers Angela is involved in a secret romance.

13. Virtual Love
The virtual world and the real world collide when a microbrewer is killed. Angela tries to move on from a failed romance by seeing someone new. And Jane and the team begin to mentor underprivileged teenagers, a move that ends in near disaster.
