Carlyle hints at Boyle 'Porno' plans

Robert Carlyle has revealed that Danny Boyle is "edging closer" to making the sequel to Trainspotting.

The actor, who played thug Begbie in the 1996 classic, also claimed that he would "jump through hoops of fire backwards" for the Slumdog Millionaire director.

Trainspotting was based on the bestselling novel by Scottish author Irvine Welsh. He also wrote a follow-up in 2002 titled Porno, which included the same characters ten years in the future.

"For me personally, I would jump through hoops of fire backwards for Danny Boyle. I would do Porno tomorrow for nothing," he told the BBC.

"[Begbie] was probably the only character I would ever want to revisit because I do believe that there's an awful lot more mileage there.

"I think there is lots more entertainment to be had from that group of people so I would be up for it, and I know Danny seems to be edging more towards it. After his success at the Oscars, he should be able to pretty much do as he wants."

Ewan McGregor, who portrayed Renton in the first movie, has previously claimed that he isn't interested in a sequel. He is also rumoured to have fallen out with Boyle after they worked on 1997's A Life Less Ordinary.

Boyle said in 2008 that he would consider the project once the central original cast - Carlyle, McGregor, Ewen Bremner and Jonny Lee Miller - began to look older.

"Actors stay suspended in that timeless moment where they're moisturising and looking after themselves and making sure they keep fit and healthy, because it's their work, it's their future employment," he said. "But when time ravages them, we will be waiting for them."

Jennifer Aniston: 'I can carry a tune'

Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she is able to "carry a tune".

The former Friends star is reportedly working on her singing for a role in forthcoming film project Goree Girls.

Director Michael Sucsy previously said that the actress is also learning how to play the Dobro guitar for the true-life story about a group of female inmates who form a prison band in the 1940s.

The 40-year-old told People that she can "carry a tune" and explained that the movie's plotline will facilitate her novice singing skills.

She said: "[The singing] won't be bad. Here's the good news: the band - they weren't musicians. They basically created a band in prison in order to get paroled.

"So you're dealing with new singing voices and new instrument playing and somehow they find a way and become a huge phenomenon."

Aniston will next star in romantic drama Love Happens, which will open in US cinemas on September 18 and in the UK on October 9.

Stewart: 'Vampire submission is sexy'

Kristen Stewart has claimed that the sexiness of vampires is connected to the way they classically inspire submission in their victims.

The Twilight actress told Metro that she was never "particularly fixated" on the creatures but that her mother dressed her as Dracula every year for Halloween.

Stewart said: "Vampires are interesting; they present interesting questions about mortality. What would it be like to live forever and have that control over people?

"And what is it like to give yourself to something like that? Interesting."

She added: "Classically they are meant to draw you in to the point where they have you in a complete state of submission so they can then kill you.

"So that's sexy a little bit - to give yourself to something, to completely let something take over. It's forbidden fruit, something you can’t have but just want more."

Stewart described upcoming sequel New Moon as "much more quaint" than its predecessor, as well as "really tragic".

Wilson, Page sign for 'Super' comedy

Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page have been cast in superhero comedy Super, reports Variety.

Liv Tyler has also signed up for the project, which will poke fun at traditional superhero movies. James Gunn (Dawn of the Dead, Scooby-Doo) will direct from his own script.

Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute in the American version of The Office, will portray an average Joe who takes on the alter ego Crimson Bolt after his wife (Tyler) falls in love with a drug dealer. However, he doesn't actually have super powers and has to make do with using a wrench as a weapon.

Writing on his webiste, Gunn claimed that the film will be "dark, comedic, gritty, very unusual, and grounded".

He added: "It's not a spoof. It's an examination of what it means to try to be something more than human. I think of it as The Passion for rebels, oddballs, fanboys, and freaks everywhere. I've never been more excited or committed to any project in my life, and I can't wait to share more with you all."

Page and Wilson last teamed up in Diablo Cody's Juno.

Creators talk 'Whiteout', 'Surrogates' films

The creators of Whiteout and The Surrogates have revealed their thoughts on the comics’ big-screen adaptations.

Whiteout was originally released as a graphic novel by Oni Press in 1998, written by Greg Rucka and drawn by Steve Lieber.

Rucka told Newsarama: "The film has a great sense of the environment and never really loses it.

"They did a beautiful job of not only capturing Steve's visuals literally, but even the feel of his visuals."

The Surrogates writer Robert Venditti appeared equally pleased with the translation of his Top Shelf-published comic.

"I wanted my characters to be there. And I wanted the subtext and commentary that I was driving for in the comics to be there. And the relationship between the main character and his wife was very central to the story, and the effect that the surrogates had on their marriage, I wanted that to be in the film," Venditti said.

"So obviously they changed some things, added characters and subplots, but basically, the core story is the same."

Whiteout, starring Kate Beckinsale, is out now, while the Bruce Willis vehicle Surrogates is due out September 25.

Crew: 'Megan Fox is unbearable, ungracious'

Megan Fox has been blasted by the crew of her movie Transformers.

Three members of the film crew have posted an open letter defending director Michael Bay. In the letter, the crew has highlighted Fox's Wonderland magazine interview where she compared Bay to "Hitler" and accused him of running an "unsafe" set, reports Radar Online.

They have said that they all had "the tedious experience of working with the dumb-as-a-rock Megan Fox", that they "had the unbearable time of watching her try to act on set" and that she is "as ungracious a person as you can fathom".

The crew members have also insisted that Bay "plucked her out of obscurity thus giving her the biggest shot of any young actress' life".

The Bay defenders have added that they never hear a "thank you" from the 23-year-old actress even after her "awful, silly Marilyn Monroe tattoo plastered on her arm that we cover up".

Defoe: 'I see darkness in a lot of my roles'

Willem Defoe has said that many of his roles are casted with "darkness".

The 54-year-old actor, who recently talked to DS about his new Lars Von Trier-directed film Antichrist, has insisted that the most "interesting" stories lack conventional plotlines and instead steer "outside of the mainstream".

Dafoe told Indie Wire: "I see darkness in a lot of my roles. I think a lot of the interesting stories come from outside the mainstream. Things are built to keep us in lockstep. I’m not a paranoid person, but darkness gets you in touch with life overall.

"It’s good for me to get in tune with the beauty and mystery of life. I think if you’re in denial of that, then you just get in this game of striving to be 'happy, happy, happy, happy'."

He added: "I’m a happy guy, but I also think about death all the time. And I also think about eating, sex, getting old… Who doesn’t look in the mirror and see these things?"
