Summit plays down 'Twilight 5' rumours

Summit Entertainment has played down recent speculation that there will be five films in the complete Twilight franchise.

The rumour was fuelled by actor BooBoo Stewart (Seth Clearwater), who told Access Hollywood that the studio is planning to make a further two movies after the third instalment Eclipse, which recently began filming in Vancouver.

However, in a statement to Us Weekly, the studio said: "We appreciate our young actor's enthusiasm for the franchise and his role, but his comments about the number of films were unfortunately uninformed and not accurate.

"However, the fans should rest assured that we're working with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen."

Breaking Dawn is the fourth and final instalment in the successful novel series. Meyer previously announced that she had no plans to finish Midnight Sun, a tentative fifth title in the popular saga.

James McTeigue talks 'Superman' origins

Director James McTeigue, rumoured to be the director of the next Superman film, has explained what he would like to do with the DC Comics character.

The Ninja Assassin and V For Vendetta director refused to confirm or deny his involvement in the project during an interview with MTV News, but did describe which direction he would take Superman if given the chance.

"I think if I was ever going to go near Superman, I would do a complete reboot - take it in a direction that you would absolutely not expect," he said. "So, that would be my thinking on it, if I was ever going to go near Superman.

"I think it's good that they just had a court case where, basically, if you make another Superman movie, you can't touch Superman growing up - that's part of the story that you can't touch anymore. That wouldn't be a bad thing. I think everybody's a bit sick of seeing the origin story."

McTeigue’s latest film Ninja Assassin is released in November.

Grint: 'I'd love to play a baddie'

Rupert Grint has announced that he is keen to play a villain after he completes work on the Harry Potter movies.

The 21-year-old actor confirmed that he wants his next big role to be as far removed from schoolboy wizard Ron Weasley as possible.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, he explained: "I have always played the good guys so far.

"I'd love to play a baddie and maybe beat some people up - do something different. I'm definitely a character actor."

Grint added that he would like to land theatre projects in the future but currently feels too inexperienced for a high-profile role on stage.

He commented: "I would love to do some theatre but I've really only done school plays."

The star is currently filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which will be released in two parts in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Worthington: 'I want to be Captain Nemo'

Sam Worthington has admitted that he would like to play Captain Nemo in the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea remake.

The Terminator Salvation star was recently mentioned by director McG as a possible lead in the update. The helmer had previously expressed a desire for Will Smith to portray the part, which the actor reportedly turned down.

Worthington, 33, said that he has sent the filmmaker an email about the possibility of taking on the role in the origin film.

"I actually saw that online [that McG said he wanted me]," he told Movie Hole. "Am I like, 'Hey [McG], how come you've never talked to me about this?'"

He added: "The next thing you know it's online - he's saying, 'I want Sam I want Sam'. I started laughing. I might get into it a bit more and start writing online saying I want this job and this job and this job.

"We haven't discussed it seriously. I wrote him an email and he wrote back saying, 'I don't think you have these qualities, blah, blah…' and I wrote back saying, 'It's your job as a director to bring it out of me'."

Christian Bale ‘Emaciated’

Christian Bale has gotten super-skinny for his role in new movie The Fighter — and his friend and costar Mark Wahlberg is worried about the British actor’s health.

The 35-year-old has continued to starve himself after dropping more than 40 pounds.

“Christian IS a method actor,” a Hollywood insider told the National Enquirer.

“If a role calls for him to look like a drug dealer, or he has to play someone who hasn’t slept in a year, he’ll go without food to look the part.

“But the danger comes after he takes off all that weight, and then eats everything in sight to put it back on for the next role. That kind of yo-yo dieting can be deadly. Mark and Christian are friends, and Mark is concerned about him.”

“It’s crazy. Christian has been living on fruit and water. He’s emaciated,” the insider added.

“Besides eating practically nothing, he exercises a lot to keep the weight off.

“Mark feels Christian is taking the whole ‘in character’ thing too far. He’s afraid Christian is getting Karen Carpenter-thin, and he’s worried about his heart.

“He wants Christian to realize that acting is a job, and it’s not worth risking your health.”

New Moon' won't have 'too much Pattinson'

New Moon director Chris Weitz has announced that Robert Pattinson is not overused in the forthcoming Twilight sequel.

The helmer confirmed that he tried to strike the right balance between pleasing the actor's army of fans and staying true to Stephenie Meyer's novel when he worked on the movie.

For much of the film, Pattinson's character Edward Cullen is seen only as a figment of his love interest Bella Swan's (Kristen Stewart) imagination as she grows closer to her old friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).

Speaking to MTV, Weitz explained: "[We wanted to avoid] just randomly inserting Rob throughout the movie in a back-at-the-ranch sort of way, which would just be about box office and us being worried about whether people would deal with the darkness of the second book. People are actually very ready for [the dark] aspect of it."

He continued: "You'll see quite a lot of Rob in the film, but it's seen subjectively, through Bella's eyes. It's also in dreams that she has of him as well.

"It strikes this very fine balance between too much Rob and too little Rob... Well, I know for a lot of people there's no such thing as too much Rob. But we've got a nice dose of Taylor to sweeten any Rob deficiencies. It is a disease that can only be treated with Vitamin T, for Taylor."

New Moon will be released to cinemas in November.

Simpsons' team still "in therapy" after film

The Simpsons producer David Mirkin has confessed that the animated show's production team is still "in therapy" after making the 2007 movie.

Speaking to DS, Mirkin reiterated plans to make a follow-up to the first big screen Simpsons outing, but admitted that it is several years away.

"We're in therapy to get over the last one and once that therapy is completed, we will sit down and do it again," Mirkin said. "But don't expect it to arrive as quickly as the last one!"

He added that bringing the long-running cartoon family to cinemas was a time-consuming and challenging experience.

"Writing that film was supposed to take us two years, but it took us four!" he noted. "It was a challenge for our stamina! So it was a relief that it was received as well as it was by the fans. And more importantly, that it made as much money as it did!"

The actor, who plays Ron Weasley in the wizard fantasy series, told BBC Newsbeat that there is still much work to be done to complete the final two films.

"Emma's going to university and she'll be busy and stuff but hopefully we'll all stay in touch. We all get on."

Grint previously compared acting in the series to "living in a bubble", which can hinder stars' independence.

Adam Sandler laughs off Oscar talk

Adam Sandler has said that he does not think he will win an Oscar for his role in Judd Apatow's upcoming movie Funny People.

Speaking at the UK press conference for the movie, the star explained that he did not take the part to widen his appeal.

Sandler said: "I like the movies that I've done in the past and I work really hard at those movies. It is not a conscious effort to say I need to broaden my audience.

"It was just, this is the movie that Judd wrote, I was excited to do the movie with Judd and whoever clicks with it I'm happy they click with it."

He added: "It was all Judd. He had this idea, he told me he had four different ideas for four different movies and he put them all together and created this story.

"It did require comedy and stuff that I was comfortable doing and it required stuff that I wasn't too comfortable doing. We all got to do stuff that we hadn't necessarily done too much and it was exciting."

Regarding talk of a possible acting Oscar, he said: "I don't really think about that. That would be hilarious if it ever happened, believe me."

Fox is Catwoman

MEGAN FOX has signed up to play Catwoman in the next Batman movie.

And I have a strong feline she is the purrfect choice for the part - and thanks to a spot of computer wizardry here's how she might look.

Megan will need to get into practice with her talcum powder application.

Slipping into the famous PVC catsuit always looked like a tricky business to me.

And I would like to be the first person to offer my services as a wardrobe assistant, should she need one.

The Transformers stunner follows in the pawprints of MICHELLE PFEIFFER and HALLE BERRY.

But Megan, who has a slightly darker edge than her two predecessors, will be brilliant as Selina Kyle.

All the other stars who have reinvented the Batman films are back on board - CHRISTIAN BALE, MICHAEL CAINE and director CHRISTOPHER NOLAN.

Shooting starts next year but the film is not expected to be released until 2011.
