Jackson film will have two-week run
A film featuring footage from Michael Jackson's final tour rehearsals will have a limited two-week run worldwide, it has been announced.
The movie, which was first approved by a judge nearly two weeks ago, sees the late singer preparing for his planned concerts at London's O2 arena.
Distributor Sony Pictures added that the release date for the This Is It project has been brought forward by two days to October 28. Tickets will go on sale from September 27.
In a statement, director Kenny Ortega commented: "This film is Michael's gift to his fans. It's a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius's world. For the first time ever, fans will see Michael as they have never seen him before - this great artist at work.
"It is raw, emotional, moving and powerful footage that captures his interactions with the 'This Is It' collaborators that he had personally assembled for this once-in-a-lifetime project."
Ortega had been working as a choreographer on the gigs before Jackson passed away in Los Angeles on June 25. The first concert was scheduled to take place on July 13.
Sony, which reportedly paid $60m (£36.4m) for rights to the film, is said to be anticipating a "huge demand" for tickets.
