Farrell to replace Depp in 'Quixote'?

Colin Farrell has been tipped to replace Johnny Depp as Toby Grisoni in Terry Gilliam's long-awaited Don Quixote movie.

The film, initially titled The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, originally started filming in October 2000, but it was abandoned after a series of on-set mishaps.

A source told the Daily Express: "Terry is a fan of Colin and it's felt he's one of the few people capable of filling Johnny's shoes."

The story of the failed production was chronicled in 2002's Jeff Bridges-narrated documentary Lost In La Mancha, directed by Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe.

Together with Jude Law, Farrell and Depp were both cast as physically transformed versions of Heath Ledger's Tony in Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when the film was completed following his death.

Leterrier: 'I want an Avengers summer'

Louis Leterrier has revealed that he would like to see four Avengers movies released at the same time

Marvel previously pushed the release dates for its film adaptations of Thor as well as the superhero ensemble piece back to 2011 and 2012, respectively. Iron Man director Jon Favreau recently said that he believes his third instalment in the franchise would be completed before the Avengers project goes into production.

However, Leterrier told the Los Angeles Times that he feels he can solve the problem of bringing together some of Marvel's best-loved characters.

He said: "I'll tell you my real dream: To work with [Captain America director] Joe Johnston and [Thor director] Kenneth Branagh and Jon Favreau and make like a triptych.

"We do four movies. We release them one a month for the summer. Or even every two weeks or three weeks. And the whole summer would be Avengers summer."

The Incredible Hulk helmer added: "So we do it the way they make television shows. One story arc but told in instalments by different directors. So all of the directors that touch part of the Avengers world would do a part."

Leterrier is currently filming the remake of Clash Of The Titans, the 1981 film that told the story of Perseus, the son of Zeus, who attempted to rescue Princess Andromeda from being sacrificed to a sea creature known as the Kraken

McG: 'I want Worthington as Captain Nemo'

Director McG has revealed that he wants Sam Worthington to portray Captain Nemo in his 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea film.

The filmmaker signed on in January to update the Jules Verne novel that was turned into a classic 1954 Disney movie featuring James Mason as the captain of the Nautilus submarine.

The Terminator Salvation helmer had previously suggested that he was hoping actor Will Smith would take on the role for his origin picture.

However, McG told IGN that he would love to reteam with Worthington, who co-starred with Christian Bale in the recent sci-fi blockbuster.

He said: "I take a lot of satisfaction in playing a role in breaking the great Sam Worthington, who I think is one of the best actors out there. He's all over the place, and I might cast him as Nemo if it's in the cards. We'll see."

McG is also attached to direct the film adaptation of stage musical Spring Awakening.

McG: 'T5 will be a better film'

McG has revealed that he wants his follow-up to Terminator Salvation  to be a "better film".

The director claimed that he did "a lot of things right... and we did many things wrong" in the latest instalment of the sci-fi franchise, revealing that eliminating the time travel element from the previous pictures was a mistake.

"And we can't wait to get back at it and show the world what becomes of that war and how we master time travel, because we stayed away from time travel in Salvation and I missed it," he told IGN." I think the next movie is going to be even more exciting and a better film."

The 41-year-old previously said that the proposed sequel could be set in the present, while he gave out more details on the plotline.

He added: "It's very, very likely that John Connor is going to end up running through rooms like this where he knows something that none of us know. And I think that is a platform for great storytelling. It will be more of a chase movie with a new Terminator that is on your ass."

The filmmaker recently admitted that he would like Sam Worthington to play Captain Nemo in his remake of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.

Kudrow: 'It's not easy being a cougar'

Lisa Kudrow has said that her character in new musical romantic comedy Bandslam is not a "cougar".

The former Friends star told Parade that her character does not instigate a kiss with a teenager in the film, adding that it would be hard to be a cougar in real life.

Kudrow said: "My character is getting hit on by a 17-year-old. But it's all his initiative, it's not like this woman was trying to seduce him. That's an important distinction.

"I would imagine it's not easy being a cougar. Men age well and they are capable of being attractive to women that are a lot younger, and it just doesn't work the other way most of the time."

She added: "The actor, Ryan Donowho, is not 17. I'm happy to say he's well over 21. That was like some consolation because I'm not into kissing teenagers.

"But I've done quite a bit of kissing in films. It's not real, and maybe that's why it's fun for me."

Kudrow's former Friends colleague Courteney Cox currently stars in ABC's Cougar Town, while Jennifer Aniston plays a thematically similar role in upcoming romantic comedy Pumas.

According to website HitFix, the X-Men and Superman Returns helmer is being courted for the new big screen take on Glen A. Larson's science fiction property.
