LaBeouf 'worked through pain on Transformers'

Shia LaBeouf has admitted that he was forced to work through the pain of his hand injury on the set of Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

The actor recently revealed that he would never regain full use of his left hand after crushing it so badly in a car accident that he was left with no bone in one finger.

Speaking at the film's UK press conference, he said: "When you break your hand it's hard to button your pants. But, something like this, you buck up and you do it.

"There's only so much you can fake. We had three cameras going at once and it takes a long time to redo the stunts."

Director Michael Bay added that a special contraption was designed in order to help LaBeouf cope with the film's energetic content.

"Shia's a great athlete, he does a lot of his own stunts," he explained. "We invented a special Kevlar cast for his fingers that's very thin so he was able to perform stunts."

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is released on June 19.

Michael Bay: 'Obama likes my movies'

Action movie director Michael Bay has claimed that US President Barack Obama admires his work.

The filmmaker told journalists at the press conference for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen that he included Obama in the movie because of a brief meeting with the President.

Bay said: "The Obama thing? I met him in an airport where he was carrying his bag by himself and we talked about movies and apparently he likes my movies. So I figured we'll just put him in."

The director joked that he was able to include the up-to-date reference because he had only completed making the film last Wednesday.

Sean Penn 'quits acting for a year'

Sean Penn has reportedly decided to quit acting for a year.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Milk Oscar winner will take a break from Hollywood to dedicate time to his marriage to Robin Wright Penn. The couple have been close to splitting twice in the last two years, with Penn filing for divorce on two occasions only to later dismiss them.

The move means that Penn will not appear in action thriller Cartel and may also bow out of The Three Stooges, the Farrelly Brothers' revival of the famed comedy trio that will star Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro.

Cartel is expected to move ahead without Penn, while MGM is considering whether to wait for the 48-year-old to return to acting or replace him. Paul Giamatti, Adrien Brody, Simon Pegg, Zach Galifianakis and Larry David are allegedly being considered to take on Penn's role as Larry Fine, says Hollywood Elsewhere.

Penn can next be seen in Terrence Malick's The Tree Of Life and in Fair Game, the story of outed CIA spy Valerie Plame.

Elton John snubs 'Bruno' song request

Sir Elton John has rejected Sacha Baron Cohen's request to use 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' in Bruno.

According to The New York Times, Cohen wanted to play the Lion King track in a scene where his flamboyant Austrian fashion guru takes part in a cage fight, then pulls down his opponent's trousers and kisses him.

Cohen's efforts to clear the song for use in the film were turned down by John and copyright owners Disney, with both objecting to its use in such a risqué scene.

However, John has reportedly agreed to let Cohen use another of his songs towards the end of the movie.

Bruno, Cohen's eagerly-awaited follow-up to his 2006 hit Borat, opens in cinemas on July 10.

Cera 'not good enough' for 'Ghostbusters 3'

Michael Cera has claimed that he is not important enough to star in Ghostbusters 3.

The Superbad actor, who next appears in biblical comedy Year One, told Moviefone that he doesn't rate his chances of winning a role in the planned Ghostbusters sequel.

"No. I don't think so," Cera remarked. "Ghostbusters is too important for me to try and be one. I would feel like a phony. I would feel like an impostor."

However, Cera's Year One co-star Jack Black admitted that he would like to get involved in the sci-fi comedy, which will see the four original Ghostbusters return to train new recruits.

"Could I see myself in it?" Black said. "Yeah, I can bust some ghosts! I ain't afraid of no ghosts, buster!"

Year One scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are penning the new Ghostbusters movie, while director Harold Ramis starred in and co-wrote the first two franchise instalments.

Radcliffe 'tried not to laugh on Potter set'

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed that he had a hard time trying not to laugh while shooting the latest Harry Potter movie.

The 19-year-old admitted that Sir Michael Gambon, who plays his wizard mentor Albus Dumbledore, attempted to crack him up during takes, Contactmusic reports.

He said: "All the scenes with Dumbledore were quite difficult, but they were great fun. [Gambon] is wonderful and I love him and he's one of the greatest actors I've ever worked with.

"But it is amazing because he will be actively trying to make you laugh right up until the point the director says, 'Action'."

Radcliffe also hopes that his camaraderie with the 68-year-old will translate onto the screen.

He added: "I think I'll be vaguely happy with the scenes between myself and Michael. I think they'll be good. Because we got to like each other very much off screen, I'm hoping on screen that'll come across."

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince arrives in US cinemas on July 14 and in the UK on July 15.

'Mission: Impossible IV': Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams to return for 2011 release

Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams have agreed to co-produce Mission: Impossible IV for Paramount, Variety reports. The film is scheduled for a 2011 release. Abrams is currently at work on a Star Trek sequel -- he has not decided if he will direct or just produce that film -- and Cruise is committed to make an untitled film with Cameron Diaz for 20th Century Fox, directed by James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma). No writers have been assigned to M:I4 yet, but a decision is likely soon. Abrams will not decide if will direct M:I4 until after he sees a finished script. Reports surfaced last week that Cruise and Abrams had met to discuss the project.

M:I4 would be Cruise's first film at Paramount since his production company left the lot in August 2006. Sumner Redstone, the head of Paramount parent company, Viacom, had made disparaging public comments about the star, saying that Cruise's now-infamous couch-jumping on Oprah and the resulting media firestorm had cost the studio between $100 million and $150 million on M:I3 because Cruise had turned off women. (The film earned $398 million worldwide, the lowest-grossing installment of the franchise.) Cruise's 14-year relationship with the studio ended soon afterward. Cruise took over United Artists in the wake of the break-up. In March 2008, Redstone began trying to mend fences and invited Cruise to lunch in Beverly Hills. Redstone said of the meeting that he and Cruise "agreed the past is the past and we would put it behind us and renew our relationship." Which is not to say that they'll be taking family vacations together anytime soon. "I wouldn't exactly say that they 'made-up,'" a source familiar with the situation tells EW.com. "It was more like a gentlemen's handshake." At recent appearance, Redstone reportedly described Cruise as a "great actor and a good friend."

'Ghostbusters 3' to avoid 'Indy' problems

Harold Ramis has said that he is hoping the new Ghostbusters movie will avoid the problems of last summer's Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

Ramis, who starred as Egon Spengler and co-wrote the first two movies with Dan Aykroyd, told Movieline that he does not want to disappoint fans of the popular franchise.

"The Star Trek reinvention worked great because they were able to project back in time," Ramis said. "We're not going to tell an origin story of who the Ghostbusters were before you met them in the first movie.

"But I would hate to do Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull. It didn't seem like there was a lot new going on there - just more of the same and not as interesting."

The 64-year-old refused to comment on speculation about new cast members, but said that Michael Cera and Seth Rogen "would be great" as younger spook hunters.

Ramis's Year One, penned by Ghostbusters 3 writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, opens in US cinemas this Friday and on June 26 in the UK.

Rathbone 'not prepared' for 'Twilight'

Jackson Rathbone has admitted that he was "not prepared" for the international frenzy surrounding the Twilight franchise.

The actor, who plays vampire Jasper Hale in the saga, told Shock Till You Drop that he was stunned by the interest in sequel New Moon, despite it not being released for another six months.

"We started making this movie and people are already loving it and it's not even out yet," he explained.

"That was an experience in and of itself. I wasn't really prepared for it, but I was really thankful for it, because they're so supportive of what we do. As an actor, you need an audience."

Rathbone went on to say that the New Moon trailer, which depicts a scene from the start of the book, is just a hint of what fans can expect.

"That's only the beginning of it. They didn't show the entire thing. It's gonna be a really action-packed movie," he said.

New Moon will hit cinemas in November.

Bay: 'I've had enough of Transformers world'

Michael Bay has reportedly revealed that he does not plan to return for Transformers 3.

Paramount and DreamWorks greenlit a third cinematic outing for the Autobots and Decepticons in March, giving the film a July 1, 2011 release date.

A proposed sequel is now in development, but the director of the first two instalments has "had enough of the Transformers world", Total Film reports.

He said: "It's easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers.

"After the three-and-a-half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world."

He added: "I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."

Bay will next serve as producer on the Nightmare On Elm Street remake.

Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, opens in cinemas on June 24.

Nolan 'may still direct Batman 3'

Screenwriter David Goyer has revealed that Christopher Nolan may still return to the Batman franchise.

However, Goyer, who penned both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, said that Nolan would come back to the film series if the right plotline was presented to him.

Speaking to IGN, he said: "Well, I believe he said if we can find the story that he's happy with, that he would return. And unfortunately, respecting Chris... You know, talk to him after he finishes Inception, which he's shooting right now. That just started shooting."

Woody Allen 'wants to cast Carla Bruni'

Woody Allen has said that he would like to cast former supermodel Carla Bruni in one of his movies.

The director told AFP in Paris that he would "without question" pick the wife of French president Nicolas Sarkozy to appear in a future film.

Allen said: "I'm sure she would be wonderful. She has charisma, and she performs, so she's not a stranger to an audience, and I would cast her in many different ways.

"I don't have a story at the moment, but you know, maybe even I'll ask her, if she's interested."
