Chuck' star Zachary Levi for new Fox comedy pilot 'Let It Go'

Zachary Levi has signed up to play the lead role in Fox pilot Let It Go.

The comedy project - written by Traffic Light's DJ Nash - will focus on a married couple, as well as the husband's best friend and the wife's sister.

Chuck star Levi will play the husband, according to Deadline.

The actor appeared in half-hour ABC sitcom Less Then Perfect between 2002 and 2006, before playing the title role in NBC's Chuck from September 2007 to January of this year.

Let It Go was picked up to pilot by Fox earlier this month, on the proviso that it would only enter production if the network was satisfied with casting.

Levi joining the project has now lifted the contingency. The project will be executive produced with Rescue Me's Peter Tolan and 2012's Michael Wimer.

Other comedy projects in the works at Fox include John Stamos sitcom Little Brother, Prodigy Bully from Glee star Mike O'Malley and The Goodwin Games from the creators of How I Met Your Mother.

Elementary': Jonny Lee Miller to play Sherlock Holmes in CBS pilot

Jonny Lee Miller has been cast in the lead role of CBS's upcoming Sherlock Holmes pilot Elementary.

The modern-day retelling of the classic detective was announced last month, and will take place in New York.

The former Trainspotting and Eli Stone actor is the first confirmed casting for the project, reports Deadline.

Robert Doherty has written the pilot's script, and will also executive produce alongside Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly, with Michael Cuesta directing.

Miller recently appeared on stage in Danny Boyle's Frankenstein opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective in the BBC's present-day, London-based Sherlock.

Sherlock executive Sue Vertue recently stated that she was "extremely worried" about the prospect of an American adaptation.

If picked up to a full series, Elementary will most likely arrive as part of the CBS 2012 fall schedule.

NBC orders 'Hannibal' series, 'Notorious' pilot

New drama Hannibal has been picked up for 13 episodes by NBC.

The Bryan Fuller-helmed contemporary thriller - which features characters from Thomas Harris's best-selling novel Red Dragon - will tell the story of FBI agent Will Graham and his mentor Dr Hannibal Lecter.

Lecter was originally played by Sir Anthony Hopkins in the movies The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Red Dragon.

It has previously been reported that Fuller, who is writing and executive producing the series, was "attracted to the dark, sick side" of the Hannibal character.

Fuller is best known for his work on Pushing Daisies. He is also currently working on the Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane for the Peacock Network.

His reworking of the 1960s comedy has previously been tipped by NBC to be a "potential summer or event series" and will mix "striking visuals" with "classic Munsters archetypes".

Mockingbird Lane was reportedly postponed by NBC last week in order to give it extra attention, which would put it in contention for the 2013 midseason.

According to Deadline, NBC has also ordered a pilot episode of Notorious.

The show is a soap about a female detective who returns to the home of her childhood to investigate the murder of her childhood friend, the daughter of the wealthy family that her mother served as a maid.

Notorious is created by Liz Heldens, who is best known for Prime Suspect and Friday Night Lights.

TBS Orders 35 More Episodes Of ‘Tyler Perry’s For Better Or Worse’

TBS has ordered 35 additional episodes of Tyler Perry’s latest sitcom, Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse, which revolves around three couples at various stages of their relationships. “Tyler Perry’s shows have proven to be a popular draw for TBS on Friday nights,” said TNT and TBS’ head of original programming Michael Wright. “We’re very happy to keep that trend going by ordering more episodes of Tyler Perry’s For Better Or Worse.” Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse, produced by Tyler Perry Studios and distributed by Debmar-Mercury, premiered on TBS on Nov. 25, 2011 and averaged 2.9 million viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49 for its 10-episode first season. Despite tracking lower than Perry’s previous 2 TBS sitcoms, House Of Payne and Meet The Browns, For Better Or Worse still ranked as basic cable’s No.1 sitcom of 2011 and the No.1 show on all of television with African-American adults. The pickup means that all 3 Perry shows produced under the Debmar-Mercury 10-90 model have gone beyond the initial 10-epsiode run on TBS. (However, the backup orders have varied, with 35 episodes being the smallest so far.) Based on the Perry’s Why Did I Get Married movies, For Better Or Worse features an ensemble cast that includes Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, Kiki Haynes and Jason Olive. Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse will return to its Friday night timeslot this summer.
